My cat hasn't been to a beach but occasionally has a neurodivergency while licking himself that leads to him cleaning the floor with his tongue for several minutes at a time

That is mineral knowledge beyond my simple human capacity. Lol

@deirdre - maybe, but I didn’t even see that title. Memory is mysterious. I have a thing about flexatones. Every time I hear one I cannot think of the name for ages and it’s really hard to look up that sound

Do you know if that's Van Dyke Parks at the end of that Beach Boys track? Coming in with vocals? I know I've checked the liner notes in the past but I don't think he's mentioned, but that has to be his voice...

Correct. Here's him speaking about the experience: "I went up there to congratulate them on acting like grown-ups. On continuing to push. Then they had me doing a vocal. I liked that song about the tree just fine. I was just called in to do some singing on one line. It worked out well. Of course I had to stumble out of the studio in pitch darkness. Brian turned out all the lights. Had to crawl out of there on the floor, clutching my wife. (cont.)
