Patrick Blanco 12:44:34 PM
For the Third Hour drinking segment you should play an hour of Frankie Valli . Whenever I hear that voice I need a strong drink.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:44:49 PM
Yeah, Brian. I couldn't squeeze it into today's show as great as it is. Will be playing it next week.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:46:40 PM
Yes, Patrick, that picture on my Facebook page is a current picture of Franki Valli. His voice did that to himself
Brian D 12:47:08 PM
Mira este pajarito alla
Christine 𓅓 12:48:50 PM
Maybe Dhafer Youssef will come to the east coast at some point. He's about to play a series of dates in Germany and France starting in a few weeks.

Rob F 12:50:39 PM

Patrick Blanco 1:24:19 PM
Every time I take Jerry’s advice to introduce myself to artists it ends up with them yelling Security Security!!!
Brian D 1:24:53 PM
Yup. You get a free case of Ruddles Rutland Ale when you buy that overseas version
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 1:24:56 PM
Your Klaatu joke makes me want to hide away and perhaps also call security
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 1:25:07 PM
Very obscure.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 1:25:20 PM

A priest a rabbi and KLAATU walk into a bar ….
dhingston 1:43:09 PM
Greetings, Jerry, from Portland, Maine! Great show, as always! I got another spectacular WPRB tee shirt recently, to add to my collection--I wear them proudly up here (although not much in this weather) and it's amazing how often someone says, "Hey--I love that station!"
Patrick Blanco 1:43:45 PM
Help me out here Mike C.
Huey Lewis and The Mok 1:43:54 PM
Jane Burnett sounds great. Is that show local?
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 1:44:41 PM
Hey DHingston. Thanks, and thanks for contributing to WPRB. I would definitely move to Portland and join you if it wasn't so cold. Love that place, although I would be the oldest person there!
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 1:45:28 PM
Hi Huey the Mok! Yes, at Chris Jazz Cafe in Philly at I believe Broad and Locust.

Huey Lewis and The Mok 1:47:15 PM

Christine 𓅓 1:47:30 PM
Not a Klaatu joke, just an Alien linguistic interpretation.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 1:48:48 PM
Huey the Mok, it will be enjoyable.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 1:49:51 PM
I want everyone to know that Christine has read a million books, a consistent reader . I know Russ also.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 1:50:39 PM

Huey Lewis and The Mok 1:55:41 PM

dhingston 1:56:53 PM

Whiskey You're the Devil. Streams of Whiskey.
Russell Woessner 2:27:19 PM
Frank is back!
David Shortell 2:27:42 PM
I was referring to B.B. Arnold’s “I Wish You Would”, Jerry. Jersey Shore underground music veteran Mad Lee (Lost in Aggression, Mad Lee and the Rough Mix, Mad Lee’s Union) played it the last few times I’ve seen him. Now that his longtime performing space (the Brighton Bar) is demolished, his gig future is in question. I have seen him play at Atlantic Highlands’ The Chubby Pickle, which has served to be something of a refugee camp for Brighton Bar “orphans”.
Brian D 2:28:03 PM
I thought we would hear the WPLJ origin song
Christine 𓅓 2:28:38 PM
Tonewood is a good, welcoming place with a lot of variety. Nowadays it seems like most people have at least 3 microbreweries within a 5-mile radius, so we may be getting a little spolied.
Brian D 2:29:56 PM
Well done hot dogs, cigarettes and coffee. The Zappa diet. Keep well supplied with them and lock self in home studio for hours at a time
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 2:30:20 PM
Russ won a beer contest and appeared on TV as a result
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 2:30:45 PM
he's remaining modest
David Shortell 2:30:48 PM
Does the New York radio station WPLJ still exist? They took their call letters from that 1955 Four Deuces song.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 2:31:03 PM
That is amazing!
Patrick Blanco 2:33:11 PM
They don’t make Country Songs like She’s acting Single I’m drinking doubles Anymore
Brian D 2:35:02 PM
I Miss You (But My Aim Is Getting Better). If Your Phone Doesn't Ring, It's Me.

Ha!
Patrick Blanco 2:36:25 PM
Inspiring show today Jerry Ready to head out to a bar . Now to find one I am not banned from !!
Brian D 2:36:44 PM
WPRB has played a great cover of that Billy Crash Craddock song lately (She's Acting Single...)
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 2:36:51 PM
Are you meeting up with the Rabbi?
Patrick Blanco 2:37:13 PM
Tom Waits actually had a piano with a drinking problem
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 2:37:46 PM
You know it!
Patrick Blanco 2:38:30 PM
The Manishewitz Inn is very quiet on Friday evenings
David Shortell 2:38:52 PM
The late great Nick Tosches wrote that spo-dee-o-dee in that 1949 Sticks McGee song was a market-friendly substitute for motherfucker, which was how they sang it live.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 2:38:57 PM
Very sweet!
Brian D 2:39:21 PM
I think the cover was done by the band named Wednesday
Brian D 2:41:34 PM
Jack Kerouac spoken word audio had a great bit about Slim Gaillard and his liking wine spo-dee o-dees. Maybe the audio book of On The Road. Back before they called it an audio book
Patrick Blanco 2:41:36 PM

Huey Lewis and The Mok 2:45:13 PM

Brian D 2:45:22 PM
Big box set of Wattstax performances came out. Heard Isadora DJ play a track on the show before Jerry. Tons of great music on there. Maybe a future Jerry's Room.... ??
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 2:45:52 PM

Huey Lewis and The Mok 2:47:07 PM

Patrick Blanco 2:47:09 PM
Stand in line Brian !!! My Starland vocal Band tribute comes first
David Shortell 2:47:29 PM
I never heard that Monterey performance of “Wine” before, only the later studio version which name-drops Janis Joplin (from their album “A Long Time Comin'”).

I haven’t watched “The Trip” in years. I can’t remember its use of the Electric Flag’s “Flash, Bam, Pow”, though I well know its use in the “Easy Rider” scene where Wyatt and Billy ride out of New Orleans after Mardi Gras’ conclusion.
