Lizbot (host) 5:02:51 PM
Hi Roffle!
Adam from News and Culture. 5:03:13 PM
loving the show already lizbot
Rofflestomp 5:03:15 PM
Hey you!~
Lizbot (host) 5:03:52 PM
@Rofflestomp - about a decade and a half ago, this program had a subtitle (Monkey Vs. Robot) and it's a long story how that came about, but it involved listener art!
Brian D 5:03:58 PM
Hello
Lizbot (host) 5:04:13 PM
Hi Adam from News and Culture! Thanks!
Lizbot (host) 5:04:20 PM
Hi Brian D!

Lizbot (host) 5:07:28 PM
Hi Lee! Happy to help revitalize you! Arise from the dead and shout G L O R I A !
Lizbot (host) 5:07:59 PM
Hi Stephen Bluhm! I will be playing a couple of tunes by Bacharach later in the program!
Lizbot (host) 5:09:15 PM
I hope the album printing preparation is coming along nicely, Stephen!
Lizbot (host) 5:09:50 PM
@Stephen - One thing I found out today is that Burt Bacharach wrote that bonkers theme song to The Blob by "The Five Blobs"! haha
Casey 5:11:04 PM
Off to an excellent start today
Francis 5:11:07 PM
If you play St. Vincent next, you'll have hit all my crushes I have on singers
Lizbot (host) 5:11:14 PM
Hi Casey! Thanks for tuning in!
Lizbot (host) 5:11:59 PM
Hi Francis! haha, we'll see! I have a lotta music queued up! Maybe some Annie Clark in a little bit

@Roffle - I love her. She is also just fascinating on screen.
Rofflestomp 5:22:55 PM
OMG yes!
Rofflestomp 5:24:00 PM
That is where I noticed her!
Rofflestomp 5:26:36 PM
Fuck yes! Thank you. Brillent shit!
Lizbot (host) 5:26:43 PM
I have stretches of heavy PJ Harvey listening and this week was one of those stretches
Lizbot (host) 5:27:37 PM
@Rofflestomp - To Bring You My Love has been one of my favorite albums since its release. It's a perfect album. I love Is This Desire too, but the age I was when this came out was just right
Number 6 5:27:50 PM
Greetings all Lizbetters!
Lizbot (host) 5:28:00 PM
Hi Number 6!
Lizbot (host) 5:28:12 PM
I'm glad that's catching on! Thx, Teresa!
Rofflestomp 5:28:32 PM
PJ Harvey!?! So you are just going to rip me apart love by love?
Lizbot (host) 5:29:03 PM
@Roffle - ha!
Rofflestomp 5:29:42 PM
Hi 6!
Lizbot (host) 5:29:48 PM
soundcheck - Anyone hearing occasional very brief glitches? Only like 1 per song, but I am wondering if I'm just hearing that on my end or if it's going out over the air. It's pretty minor, but it hasn't done this before so I am thinking I need to run some diagnostics before next show
Number 6 5:30:41 PM
A okay here so far.
Mike Tropiano 5:32:09 PM
Have you hacked my old ipod nano playlist?
Mike Tropiano 5:33:30 PM
If you play some crimson and misfits, I'm gonna get freaked out.
Lizbot (host) 5:33:52 PM
Hi Mike Tropiano - Ha, I wish I could hack my OWN old dying iPod! It won't start up but I refuse to give up on it yet. It's an iPod classic
Mike Tropiano 5:34:38 PM
Mine is irretrievably gone but I can't bring myself to throw it out.
Mike Tropiano 5:34:50 PM
This sends shivers down my spine.
Lizbot (host) 5:35:07 PM
@Mike Tropiano - I played Petra Haden of That Dog singing an a cappella version of Crimson's Red from her "Sing Crimson" project last week!
Mike Tropiano 5:36:03 PM
I saw it in the playlist but didn't have the opportunity to listen last week...I always check the playlists.
Ambrose Hughes 5:37:21 PM
@Lizbot, all good here, enjoying this set loads!
Lizbot (host) 5:37:38 PM
@Mike Tropiano - Same! It was slowing down for the past few years, had a little delay and you could literally hear it struggling a bit, but it still served me well on countless roadtrips and flights. I'm so mad Apple discontinued the iPod, amongst other things
Rofflestomp 5:37:42 PM
I love this Lizbot! So smart. My weirdo neighborhood for sure.
Lizbot (host) 5:37:44 PM
@Ambrose - Thank you!
Mike Tropiano 5:39:32 PM
I loved to put it in shuffle mode during work-outs. It was perfect- small and easy to use. Using the phone for this is so clumsy.
Number 6 5:40:29 PM
I still have an old Sony one somewhere that used OMG files.
Number 6 5:41:18 PM
Might have been 1 gig.
Mike Tropiano 5:41:31 PM
Remember Zune? Did anyone ever really buy those...showing our age!
Stephen Bluhm 5:41:49 PM
haven't noticed any weird skips
Number 6 5:42:21 PM
I remember Zune. I have a Zen one somewhere also that died.
Mike Tropiano 5:42:56 PM
I have to make the trek home but I can't tear myself away. This set is amazing!
Lizbot (host) 5:43:02 PM
@Stephen Bluhm - Okay, I suspected it was just on this end. Gotta figure out what's causing it later.
richard lyons 5:43:06 PM
Great show, Lizbot! Loved the Scout Niblet and this Diamanda Galás!
Lizbot (host) 5:43:22 PM
Hello Richard Lyons! Thanks! Diamanda is a FORCE
richard lyons 5:43:51 PM
Yes!
Lizbot (host) 5:44:00 PM
@Mike Tropiano - oh no, I hope you can tune back in later! Thanks! No way to listen on yr commute?
Mike Tropiano 5:44:16 PM
And she's really synergistically melding with the rhythm section.
Number 6 5:44:27 PM
Her song Litany For Satan reminds me of music for riots and insurrections.
Mike Tropiano 5:45:03 PM
Oh yes, PRB comes in loud and clear in the car, I just don't want to miss anything, it's TOO GOOD.
Lizbot (host) 5:45:36 PM
@Number 6 - oh yeah, I never had Zune, but I have friends who have bought retooled iPods. one of the problems is that it needs to be compatible with whatever version of iTunes, which isn't even iTunes anymore, but "Apple Music" or whatever! They just wanna make everyone stream so they made it hard to play pre-owned MP3s, along with forcing us all to buy a million dongles...
Mike Tropiano 5:45:47 PM
I'm going to rush to the car at the next mic break!
Lizbot (host) 5:46:12 PM
This tune lurks and creeps
DSM 5:46:37 PM
Good evening Lizbot and everyone!
Number 6 5:46:38 PM
Sandisk makes some good MP3 players.
Lizbot (host) 5:46:44 PM
@Mike Tropiano - haha, good plan. I THINK I'll go on mic after this song, with a bed of Helena Hauff
Lizbot (host) 5:46:48 PM
Hi DSM!
Mike Tropiano 5:47:31 PM
I will have to check them out No. 6. I almost exclusively use SanDisc flash drives.
Lizbot (host) 5:47:38 PM
@Number 6 - I mean, Diamanda's music is like resistance! What a way to score a protest! Imagine The Litanies of Satan blaring out of a huge PA!
Lizbot (host) 5:48:03 PM
@number 6 - Noted! I gotta look into that
Ambrose Hughes 5:48:19 PM
@Lizbot, love that description.
Ambrose Hughes 5:48:33 PM
Hi DSM!
DSM 5:51:23 PM
Qualm or No Qualms, which is it eh?!
Rofflestomp 5:53:38 PM
I have a 450 watt PA in my living room. If the idiots is my building challenge me I wlli destroy them! LOL
Lizbot (host) 5:54:49 PM
I am thoroughly digging these orchestra hits
Lizbot (host) 5:55:23 PM
@DSM - BOTH! and there is a "Qualm" track on the album as well
DSM 5:57:23 PM
Lizbot, I was just being a silly goose, not a real question LOL
Lizbot (host) 5:57:41 PM
@Rofflestomp - haha, thankfully the small apartment building I lived in in my 20s had all equally loud neighbors so none of us complained! I had a sleeping loft, so slept very close to the ceiling and the neighbor directly above me worked the late shift as an EMS worker and used to come home at 3 or 4 AM and start rearranging his furniture to house music!
Lizbot (host) 5:58:05 PM
@DSM - and YET, Helena can answer with tunes for both!
DSM 5:58:56 PM
All Qualmed Up!
Lizbot (host) 6:02:00 PM
@DSM - some qualms are balms for the ears!
Lee Chandler 6:02:08 PM
I really like the Holly Herndon I’ve heard.
Rofflestomp 6:02:50 PM
@Lizbot! Correct living! I have new neighbors that are not real bad, but At two in the morning they need to know I have very powerful guitar amps. It's a weird game. lol
Lizbot (host) 6:04:14 PM
@Lee Chandler - I like Holly Herndon's music and her process is really fascinating. She and her partner invented software to manipulate vocals
Lizbot (host) 6:06:23 PM
@Rofflestomp - Yeah, I mean I basically leave neighbors alone and they leave me alone, except usually there's always one nosy annoying neighbor on pretty much every block I've ever lived on. There was one on my old block that loved to keep tabs on everyone and collect gossip so I avoided her like the plague
Lizbot (host) 6:07:27 PM
@Rofflestomp - I also have lived on blocks with self-appointed "Block captains." One was fun and just liked throwing block parties. the other was completely crazy
Ossy 6:07:49 PM
The last song was so 80s Michael, Rebbie, Jermaine and Janet Jackson
Lizbot (host) 6:09:27 PM
Hi Ossy!
Rofflestomp 6:10:28 PM
@Lizbot, For sure! I am down with my old neighbors. I will fuck with my new ones though, Idiots need lessons. Sad to say.
Lizbot (host) 6:12:02 PM
@Rofflestomp - I have one awful neighbor, but for the most part my block is pretty chill. New next door neighbors moved in a year and a half ago and they LOVE to party and have loud outdoor parties, so I don't feel bad if I occasionally play music in the yard or watch a movie outside on the portable screen
Ossy 6:12:44 PM
Something random and funny 💛🧡🟡🟠https://www.deviantart.com/yoshiman1118/art/Different-Daisys-197693576
Lizbot (host) 6:15:18 PM
@Ossy - I wanna be the princess peach who can float over everything in Mario 2
Rofflestomp 6:16:25 PM
@Lizbot, I also have insane watts at my command. You and the hubby are welcome to them should you need! lol
DSM 6:16:26 PM
ha, skipping entire levels with Peach felt so wrong, but I also could not resist doing it
Lizbot (host) 6:16:40 PM
@Ossy - I don't know why anyone would chose Toad, Mario or Luigi when PP can friggin' float over 2/3 of the obstacles/killer sprites, plus my 10 year-old self found it kinda soothing to watch her float
Brian D 6:16:55 PM
Lovin the show tonight LizBot
Lizbot (host) 6:17:03 PM
Thanks, Brian D!
Lizbot (host) 6:18:24 PM
@DSM - yeah, I mean come on! Luigi was super hard to control and fluttered all over like a dumbass and was kinda weak! Toad couldn't jump for ish and Mario was meh. The only boys I knew who wouldnt play as PP were just refusing to be pink princesses in a game, but come on, she was the obvious choice!
Lizbot (host) 6:18:44 PM
@Rofflestomp - Thank you, good to know!
Rofflestomp 6:19:37 PM
You Bet!
DSM 6:19:48 PM
Ha! Yeah Luigi in Mario 2 always felt "slippery". Fluttered all over like a dumbass made me lol, that is a great way to put it
Brian D 6:21:11 PM
mp3 player history: years after they came out , I found the Sansa Fuze+ on eBay. Bought a couple 16GB ones real cheap (less than $20 ea). And an 8GB one later. And all have added storage capabilities w/the micro SD slot (but that does slow the load up... ). I still like the look of them. Use them occasionally. Going back in time. They sound great. Drag & drop files in them. Easy easy easy
Brian D 6:21:52 PM
they play all sorts of file types too
Brian D 6:22:33 PM
feel good too, like a little black bar of soap with cool album cover art showing up on a 1 1/2 inch size ha
Ossy 6:23:40 PM
Liz - Haven't played SM2 for long, since lent season and Luigi is hard to control there. Love that Baby Daisy calls her older selves idiots. She's so scary
Lizbot (host) 6:24:27 PM
@Brian D - Good to know...Ease of file transfer is a big plus for MP3 players. I loved my iPod, but sometimes it wasn't very compatible with certain versions of iTunes
Ossy 6:24:30 PM
I was playing some Super Mario World 2 and a little of Wario Land 1
Rofflestomp 6:24:42 PM
I have storage issues Keep buying bigger, I wonder about reliability across time.
Ossy 6:25:01 PM
This song felt like Aretha's Say A Prayer with some Nina Simone
Rofflestomp 6:25:25 PM
Back at Brian on that one.
Ossy 6:25:32 PM
Feels like Aretha's song in Nina's own
Lizbot (host) 6:26:00 PM
@Ossy - huh, you know Burt Bacharach, who just died yesterday, wrote Say a Little Prayer, which of course Aretha did an awesome version of
Number 6 6:26:31 PM
I'm glad that this is the edited version, or that wouldn't be good.
Rofflestomp 6:26:33 PM
So epic Ossy! I get it!
Rofflestomp 6:27:16 PM
No horse gonna pull this wagon.
Lizbot (host) 6:27:58 PM
Sorry, Patti, but I had to edit you a little!
Lizbot (host) 6:28:54 PM
@Ossy - I had an emulator on my old iMac in the early 2000s that had Mario, mario 2, a buncha other original NES stuff. That got taken down, but now I have an NES someone hacked to make it play hundreds of games. It's not one of the old og NES consoles, it's one of those mini ones from a few years back that was meant to just have a few games on it
Number 6 6:30:03 PM
Is Pissed Off okay? Or is that a DNP too?
Rofflestomp 6:30:19 PM
Modigliani does not care.
Ossy 6:30:26 PM
Liz- I heard this morning on the Patty Jackson of philly's wdas station and later from Esoterica of Burth's passing. Found out he wrote the song theme of Arthur as well. I love both Aretha and Dionne's versions!
Ossy 6:31:38 PM
I have some of that too Liz, but nothing hacked. I played Kirby's Adventure, Maniac Mansion and Ninja Gaiden on there as well.
Rofflestomp 6:34:06 PM
Broken English was amazing for sure.
Lizbot (host) 6:34:46 PM
@Number 6 - that's gray area, but should be fine. The issue is bodily fluids/functions of a "prurient nature"! THat's all I'm gonna say on here about our beloved ef cee cee
Lizbot (host) 6:35:52 PM
@Rofflestomp - for real. I love Witches' Song and the title track, and Why D'Ya Do It is amazing but yeah, not for air play!
Number 6 6:35:56 PM
Mike L is always the final authority on that.
Lizbot (host) 6:36:12 PM
@Stephen - a Burt Bacharach tune next! RIP
Brian D 6:36:39 PM
UK "pissed" as in drunk should be ok too eh?
Lizbot (host) 6:37:29 PM
@Brian D - yeah should be
Rofflestomp 6:38:52 PM
Way too FCC, and I have so, so many requests that you would just play otherwise. Kinda funny/
Stephen Bluhm (1) 6:39:15 PM
hey she changed the lyric from "broken and blue" to "broken in two." It's much better that way, I always thought I'd do that if I ever covered this song.
Stephen Bluhm (1) 6:39:57 PM
love Laura Nyro too
Lizbot (host) 6:40:20 PM
@Stephen Bluhm - oh yeah! huh, I hadn't noticed! I have a lot of versions of that song and almost played Brenda and The Tabulations' version instead
Number 6 6:40:48 PM
If the station ever gets the second internet stream up, it will be anything goes.
Rob from Maryland 6:43:13 PM
Good evening everyone
Lizbot (host) 6:43:16 PM
@Number 6 - hmmmmmmmmmm, I have some songs in mind for a free-for-all!
Lizbot (host) 6:43:21 PM
Hello Rob from Maryland!
Richard from Rocky Hill 6:43:43 PM
@ Lizbot (host) Great playlist as always. Special thanks for the Bertolt Brecht/Kurt Weill- and Hal David/Burt Bacharach-composed songs. Two of the truly colossal songwriting duos of the 20th century! RIP, BB ...
Rofflestomp 6:44:03 PM

Lizbot (host) 6:46:26 PM
Hi Richard from Rocky Hill! Thanks for listening! Another BB coming soon on the program
Lizbot (host) 6:47:18 PM
@Dennisons - Did you make it to The City Museum??? Something tells me your schedule was too tight. You guys fit a LOT of driving into that weekend!
Rofflestomp 6:47:41 PM
All good #6! Love the inclusiveness for sure!
Lizbot (host) 6:48:07 PM

I keep thinking Weyes Blood was part of the Philly scene around the same time I was there. Is that right? Like I think she might have played in Clark Park.
Lizbot (host) 6:50:07 PM
@Stephen Bluhm - YES! She was! She sang in my friends' band, Satanized, with roommates of my husband (well, you know George!) She played my friend Jesse's house too
Rofflestomp 6:52:41 PM
My phone that I only use alarms and music should chime in nicely for that. :)
Stephen Bluhm (1) 6:52:58 PM
Sometimes I think I shouldn't have split the Philly scene ha
Lizbot (host) 6:54:26 PM
@Stephen Bluhm - haha, I can see the appeal of Hudson, though! nice place, and etsy and all! Trains to NYC and Montreal! gulches and rivers and whatnot. Yeah, I mean, I do miss that era of Philly music, and maybe also because I could get to more shows back then!
Rofflestomp 6:54:47 PM
Philly is cool Stephen, but it's nice to go home too. And I live in Philly. lol
Lizbot (host) 6:54:57 PM
@Stephen Bluhm - Natalie definitely "hit the big time," so to speak. I knew it was all uphill for her when she got a song on Orange Is the New Black
George Korein 6:57:54 PM
This was a bop I bopped
George Korein 6:58:01 PM
To as a teen
Rofflestomp 6:58:17 PM
@Lizbot the street porch gigs in west Philly are boss!
Ambrose Hughes 6:58:27 PM
Epic show today Lizbot😍
Lizbot (host) 6:58:31 PM
Hey George - I thought of you when I cued this!
Lizbot (host) 6:58:36 PM
Thanks, Ambrose!
Lizbot (host) 6:58:59 PM
@Rofflestomp - I love Porchfest! Great outdoor West Philly times!
Rofflestomp 6:59:18 PM
Hi George! You are still the hippest dude!
Lizbot (host) 6:59:42 PM
@Stephen Bluhm - I am nostalgic for a period of Philly music that includes many musicians who moved away
Mary Jones 7:05:26 PM
@Lizbot hello! We didn’t get to the City Museum, but we get out there every two years or so, so next time.
Lizbot (host) 7:05:57 PM
@Rofflestomp - Re: George - hip-pest hip that ever did break and get pinned back together!
Lizbot (host) 7:08:01 PM
Hi Mary Jones! I kinda figured or I probably would've seen photos! You guys had so much driving in such a short time span, I figured you'd only be doing wedding things, but man, I cannot recommend it enough. I have dreams about the place. The whole place honestly follows dream logic. You are meant to get lost in it, there are no maps or signs.
Mary Jones 7:09:35 PM
That sounds ideal—next time we’re out—probably next year or 2025–it will be a destination!
Lizbot (host) 7:10:23 PM
@Mary - Have you or Dennis ever tried that St. Louis regional sandwich, the misleadingly-named St. Paul sandwich? George really wanted to try one but we didn't get to it! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St._Paul_sandwich
Lizbot (host) 7:13:04 PM
More Burt!
Lizbot (host) 7:13:26 PM
@Mary - Burt Bacharach was a Missouri man!
Mary Jones 7:13:28 PM
I’ve never heard of that! that is a wild-sounding sandwich—but I’m up for trying everything, I’ll have to look for it next time we’re out.
Dennisons 7:13:46 PM
That’s a whacky sandwich!
Mary Jones 7:13:55 PM
@Lizbot I didn’t know that about Bacharach!
Lizbot (host) 7:14:20 PM
@Dennisons - I know! It doesn't appeal to me but George really wanted one, but they proved a bit elusive
Lizbot (host) 7:14:38 PM
@Mary - Kansas City!
Lizbot (host) 7:14:53 PM
@Dennisons - It was sold at corner store and Chinese takeout places
Mary Jones 7:15:09 PM
Oh, so our mortal enemy, a potential Chiefs fan!
Lizbot (host) 7:17:21 PM
@Mary Jones - Right! I thought about that while you two were in Missouri- enemy territory! I don't watch sports pretty much ever, but I got sucked into the eagles' rise this time, largely due to my father in law who is a big fan. I enjoy the ambient excitement in the air
Don Hamp 7:17:41 PM
I love Patti Smith, but man the # of books this gal has written fondly remembering CBGB! I am looking forward to the Patti Smith cookbook or Patti Smith hikes the Appalachian trail miniseries.
Dennisons 7:18:39 PM
@liz we met a lot of Kansas City fans out there, but they were all so darn nice it took all the fun out of trash talking them.
Mary Jones 7:18:54 PM
@Lizbot not only were we in enemy territory, some of our own family (by marriage) are Chiefs fans—Dennis wanted to start an Eagles chant at the wedding, but knew he was outnumbered.
Lizbot (host) 7:20:13 PM
Hi Don Hamp! - haha, I did enjoy Just Kids, but I haven't read all her stuff. I loved her article memorializing Tom Verlaine
Lizbot (host) 7:21:09 PM
@Dennisons - haha, yeah ppl we met in Missouri were super nice!
Teresa Peacock 7:21:13 PM
'Born In Flames' always makes me think of our friend Julia Factorial {*warm, fuzzy sigh*}
Rofflestomp 7:21:49 PM
Totally enjoyed that last tune. Who said sparks vibe?
Francis 7:22:18 PM
Just on vocal qualities, I think the Sparks might be able to be squeezed into todays set
Lizbot (host) 7:22:32 PM
@Teresa - Julia and I were both doing our shows on Thursday nights when Drag City put out the Red Krayola singles collection with that song on it so we played it a lot! Have you seen the Lizzie Borden-directed movie Born In Flames?
Lizbot (host) 7:22:46 PM
Hi Francis! Tempting!
Teresa Peacock 7:22:58 PM
@Rofflestomp -- I didn't but YES, most def!
Francis 7:23:18 PM
Nah - don't do it.. Stay strong
Francis 7:23:56 PM
I do love a themed show.. We need more of them.
Lizbot (host) 7:24:05 PM
@Francis - They're coming to the Keswick in June!
Rofflestomp 7:24:13 PM
I but come before you with these but ears... :)
Lee Chandler 7:24:41 PM
I’d like to pre-order the Patti Smith Appalachian trail miniseries.
Lizbot (host) 7:24:54 PM
@Francis / Rofflestomp - The first Sparks song I ever heard was Pineapple and I mistook Russell's falsetto for a woman
Lizbot (host) 7:25:29 PM
@Lee - Same! Hey, I'd watch! She'd be more engaging than Ken Burns' national parks doc
Lizbot (host) 7:27:18 PM
@Teresa - I just bought myself another copy of that movie. Uses the Red Krayola in the soundtrack!
Mary Jones 7:28:53 PM
@Lizbot are you going to the Sparks show at the Keswick? We just got tickets last week.
Lizbot (host) 7:29:13 PM
@Mary Jones - I wonder what the outcome would be if Dennis had done that...since it's a wedding and not a sports bar, I bet there would be some friendly counter-chanting
Lizbot (host) 7:30:53 PM
@Mary Jones - YES! At first I thought I couldn't go because we're going to be traveling for our 20th anniversary in June, but I realized we have to be back by June 28th to get Hattie to summer camp, and Sparks coming is a good enough reason as well!
Dennisons 7:31:19 PM
@liz we were 16 floors up at the reception, I’d be worried they’d toss me off the roof!
Mary Jones 7:31:32 PM
@Lizbot awesome! We will see you there!!
Lizbot (host) 7:32:51 PM
@Dennisons - Oh nO! When in Pittsburgh visiting my friend there, I have overheard very loud sports-based altercations and a fan from Ohio was actually killed in a bar in the 'burgh during one of my visits, so def never stir any eagles vs. steelers ish there!
Lizbot (host) 7:34:28 PM
@Mary - Yes! I have my heart set on some Greek pizza from Trio's beforehand, and a Weldon Fountain cone afterwards! Both have outdoor seating and it'll be June! Just hoping for good weather
Ossy 7:35:35 PM
Cool nes sounding
Lizbot (host) 7:36:03 PM
@Mary/Dennisons - Did you guys get a chance to record this week? I have a truly terrible movie for you if you want some awful cheese (I'm really selling this, aren't I?) George is haunted by a bad 80s movie he saw as a kid called Ice Pirates, starring Robert Urich, by the guy who wrote Krull!
Lizbot (host) 7:36:17 PM
@Ossy - Herndon is awesome with electronic manipulations!
Mary Jones 7:36:37 PM
@Lizbot that sounds awesome!
Dennisons 7:36:58 PM
@liz oh boy, do I know ice pirates.
Lizbot (host) 7:37:16 PM
@Mary - I can't tell if you mean the ice cream & pizza or the Ice Pirates!
Mary Jones 7:37:23 PM
Ok, I need to watch Ice Pirates—it’s on our list!—but this week is … Say Anything! Which I can’t believe I never saw
Lizbot (host) 7:37:31 PM
@Dennisons -haha, I detect a knowing groan
Lizbot (host) 7:37:58 PM
@Dennisons - l haven't seen it but have heard George talk about that movie for the past 20 years!
Lizbot (host) 7:38:26 PM
@Mary /Dennisons - I feel like there are Dennis movies like that...some that didn't hold you as well as you remembered them!
Dennisons 7:38:34 PM
@liz perfect for teenage boys at the time.
Dennisons 7:39:05 PM
@liz like Johnny Dangerously
Mary Jones 7:39:28 PM
@Lizbot it’s the movies that don’t hold up that fascinate me
Lizbot (host) 7:40:11 PM
@Dennisons - I'll bet. But George was like 6 when he saw it! He learned the concept of castration from it at a ripe young age!
Rofflestomp 7:40:29 PM
Oh my! That was very good!
Lizbot (host) 7:40:33 PM
@Mary - This one has all the b-movie staples - Urich, at least one Carradine
Mary Jones 7:40:47 PM
WHAT HAPPENS IN THE MOVIE???
Mary Jones 7:41:14 PM
Well, if it has a Carradine, I have to see it!
Lizbot (host) 7:42:02 PM
@MAry - apparently ppl are castrated and lobotomized, but that's all I know...plus pirates? and ice? Ask George! He always tells me how he got freaked out by the castration. He asked his step-mom what was happened and she phrased it "It's when your "goodies" get cut off" and that never left him!
Mary Jones 7:42:40 PM
😮
Dennisons 7:43:17 PM
@liz have you or George seen Spaceship (aka Naked Space) with Leslie Nielsen and Cindy Williams? Another turkey that I loved at the time.
Lizbot (host) 7:43:22 PM
@Mary - I mean, not as bad as when his step-dad watched Erasurehead in the room with him when he was around the same age!
Lizbot (host) 7:44:08 PM
haha, I accidentally typed "Erasurehead" and now I'm imaging Eraserhead set to the music of Erasure! Makes it seem less scary
Mary Jones 7:44:38 PM
@Lizbot I’m actually stretching our time limit to include Eraserhead, a film I’ve been terrified of watching since I was a kid. It will be covered.
Lizbot (host) 7:45:16 PM
@Dennisons - I have not! I don't know about George. I loved The Naked Gun 2 1/2 as a kid, but I am pretty sure it wouldnt hold up! George actually made a song about the Krell from another Leslie Nielsen movie, Forbidden Planet
Lizbot (host) 7:46:09 PM
@Mary Jones - Nice! PhilaMOCA arranged a screening of it in a dark tunnel in the Eraserhood a couple years ago. It was dark and freezing out. That's not how I want to die
Rofflestomp 7:46:12 PM
Erasurehead! LOL
Mary Jones 7:46:26 PM
Forbidden Planet is a pretty good movie!
Rofflestomp 7:46:33 PM
I like it.
Lizbot (host) 7:47:12 PM
@Mary - I concur. and with a groundbreaking electronic soundtrack by Bebe and Louis Barron! I've played it before on the show!
Lizbot (host) 7:47:29 PM
@Rofflestomp - Yeah, I gotta write that down for later!
Rofflestomp 7:47:36 PM
@Mary, The Krell labs are the best of everything.
Lizbot (host) 7:48:12 PM
Krell Labs > Bell Labs
Mary Jones 7:48:34 PM
Hahah
jimboo 7:49:03 PM
BOT! 🤖
Lizbot (host) 7:49:13 PM
@Rofflestomp - ...to be added to the pile of ideas I've stumbled upon and think would make a good YouTube video and then never do anything with until someone else eventually does years later!
Lizbot (host) 7:49:21 PM
jimBOO!
Mary Jones 7:50:40 PM
Supposedly Lynch lived around the corner from my parents when he was in Philly, on Aspen in Fairmount during a garbage strike, and it was dire for him and influenced Eraserhead
Rofflestomp 7:51:30 PM
Hey Lizbot, Love to just be here and daydream with you. We know where we are going. Lovely when others have a ticket too. Good shit!
Lizbot (host) 7:51:31 PM
@Mary/ Dennisons - A late 80s movie my brother & I liked, Short Time with Dabney Coleman, I am positive didn't hold up well. Even the main plot point is pretty crass!
Mary Jones 7:52:18 PM
@Lizbot that’s one I’ve never seen, but I’ve heard the title of—worth putting on the list just for Dabney Coleman.
Rofflestomp 7:53:16 PM
@Mary, I love that Lynch did his early stuff around here.
Mary Jones 7:54:25 PM
@Rofflestomp I had no idea there was a connection until maybe ten, 15 years ago!
Lizbot (host) 7:54:27 PM
@Rofflestomp - AND the Brothers Quay as well, as far as other creepy Philly art school filmmakers
Ossy 7:54:55 PM
Awesome sounds and chill lounge, Liz!
Lizbot (host) 7:55:21 PM
Thanks, Ossy!
Rofflestomp 7:55:40 PM
"creepy Philly art school" LMAO I just love that concept!
Rofflestomp 7:56:43 PM
I went to an art class in Philly years ago, and the nudes were surely creepy,.
Number 6 7:57:09 PM
Thanks for another great show. BCNU!
Ambrose Hughes 7:58:12 PM
Top Show esoterica, thank you!
Lizbot (host) 7:58:14 PM
@Mary - Here's one from Home of the Brave! If you guys ever get to that one, I'm still interested in participating!
Lizbot (host) 7:58:29 PM
@Ambrose - I'm EsoBotica now?!
Lizbot (host) 7:58:43 PM
Thanks for listening, Number 6!
Ambrose Hughes 7:59:03 PM
Lizoterica😜
Rofflestomp 7:59:16 PM
Thanx Lizbot! Love you! See you across some time.
Lizbot (host) 7:59:20 PM
@Rofflestomp - I love that that neighborhood around Spring Garden will forever be known as "the Eraserhood" thanks for D Lynch
Ambrose Hughes 7:59:36 PM
I'm a wee bit mixed up today!😆
Lizbot (host) 7:59:57 PM
@Ambrose - LizzoTerica!
Ambrose Hughes 8:00:18 PM
😍Lizbot
Lizbot (host) 8:00:20 PM
@Ambrose - Understandable! I am too!
Mary Jones 8:01:22 PM
@Lizbot we stoll want to do that!
Lizbot (host) 8:01:42 PM
@Mary - great! I have a lot to say about Adrian Belew!
Lizbot (host) 8:02:27 PM
@Mary - I haven't seen either "red" movie, and I listened to both episodes, but I've decided I need to finally see Reds. Probably not The Big Red one!
