Hi Ambrose!
Ambrose Hughes 8:15:50 PM
Liked that Rare Breed song, rarely heard!
Rob from Maryland 🦀 🇺🇦 🌻 🇮🇷 8:17:22 PM
The Rare Breed song was nice. And Heino too
Commie Francis (host) 8:18:24 PM
i had a ball listening to like 10 different versions of come on down to my boat (which weirdly often has slightly varying titles)
Commie Francis (host) 8:18:28 PM
love that song!
richard lyons 8:21:26 PM
You are probably full up but just thought of The Saints 'Ghost Ships"
Scooter France 8:22:51 PM
My band practice was cancelled at the last minute, but at least I can listen to Uneasy Listening in real time.
richard lyons 8:23:31 PM
Hi Scooter :)
Commie Francis (host) 8:24:40 PM
nice to have you here!
Alan Pasnyk 8:26:45 PM
Hi Commie!! ....I can't help but wonder if "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" by Gordon Lightfoot is on tonoght's menu...so many ship/boat songs...
Commie Francis (host) 8:27:38 PM
there are tons! i did a show about the ocean a few years ago and played a bunch of my favorite boat songs but there are tons more!
Alan Pasnyk 8:28:22 PM
@ Commie: I always enjoy theme based shows...Carry On!!!
Commie Francis (host) 8:29:27 PM
ok ONE more sad shipwreck song for now
Ambrose Hughes 8:29:31 PM
I know of a pub called The Heart Of Oak.
Alan Pasnyk 8:34:00 PM
Maybe somebody should write a song about that "Duck" that went down in the Delaware just a few years back.....I was on it only a few months earlier..Whew!
Commie Francis (host) 8:34:56 PM
omg there were multiple ducky tour accidents, that was so wild
Commie Francis (host) 8:35:25 PM
my only experience with that duck is being part of a group of punks waiting for vegan cheesesteaks at gianna's and getting heckled by the duck
Alan Pasnyk 8:36:06 PM
@Commie: That darn thing was so unstable that It even gave me the Willies!
Commie Francis (host) 8:37:11 PM
i remember there kept being terrible accidents and they just kept duckin' for years
Alan Pasnyk 8:37:37 PM
"Heckled by the Duck" that's a new one for even me!
Commie Francis (host) 8:38:16 PM
the duck driver was just like "never know what you're gonna see on south street!" or something. there was a big punk fest happening so there were a LOT of punks on the sidewalk
Ambrose Hughes 8:38:59 PM
Fuck those particular ducks!😠
Ambrose Hughes 8:39:34 PM
TOMMY
Commie Francis (host) 8:39:56 PM
the AAs at the beginnings of lines just kill me. this rips so hard
Alan Pasnyk 8:40:15 PM
@Commie: Write a song: "I was heckled by the Duck before she went dowwwwn, Arrrr"
Commie Francis (host) 8:40:37 PM
i've probably told this story before but once as a teen i was making my dad listen to the pogues in the car and he was like "this is just the clancy brothers with swears"
Commie Francis (host) 8:40:42 PM
he was NOT WRONG
Ambrose Hughes 8:41:09 PM
Duck down ...good pillow stufffing!
Ambrose Hughes 8:41:57 PM
@Commie, your Dad's funny!😝
Alan Pasnyk 8:43:19 PM
I was heckled by the Duck, Before she went down, But I neverr went on board, 'cause I didn't want to drowwwn...
richard lyons 8:46:23 PM
I was an unaware tourist when I went out on one. Luckily, it stayed afloat.
richard lyons 8:47:15 PM
kudos to Marvin!
Michael Shakarjian 8:49:32 PM

Ambrose Hughes 8:57:25 PM
@richard, yes, there's a book about it!
richard lyons 8:59:15 PM
What is that book title?
Ambrose Hughes 9:02:50 PM
@richard, Republican Internment and The Prison Ship Argenta.
Rofflestomp 9:03:55 PM
Well shiver me timbers. Five 'ish years on a fishing boat out of Alaska. Mixed feeling fer shure. A prison boat though. Eeegads!
richard lyons 9:06:35 PM
Dang! Thanks for that, Ambrose!!
Commie Francis (host) 9:07:01 PM
a friend of mine worked on a fishing boat for a long time too, it sounded terrible. he has wild stories though

Ambrose Hughes 9:10:15 PM
❤ Jon Langford!
richard lyons 9:11:04 PM
That book is a bit of a collector's item too. Checking my libraries.
Rofflestomp 9:14:09 PM
@Ambrose, man I can't imagine being in that situation. It's not like your getting to a life raft in an emergency. That's crazytown.
richard lyons 9:14:26 PM
Love Versey's voice!
Ambrose Hughes 9:14:27 PM
@richard, I'm not too surprised!
Ambrose Hughes 9:16:25 PM
@Rofflestomp, yes and they had rats for company!🤔
Rofflestomp 9:18:20 PM
Yikes! I'll take the SS COVID Cruse Ship anyday compaired to that.
Ambrose Hughes 9:20:14 PM
My next door neighbours played a lot of Boney M late '70's, I could hear it reverberating through the walls, dont6 recall this one though!
Ambrose Hughes 9:21:18 PM
@Rofflestomp, are you sure!?!😜
Rofflestomp 9:22:59 PM
I'm healthy, I'd wing it. And I have no fear of a mask as long as I'm wearing it.
Alan Pasnyk 9:28:43 PM
Wow! I actually have this Carter recording..
Commie Francis (host) 9:29:45 PM
the 78?
Alan Pasnyk 9:31:00 PM
@ Commie: It's on a vinyl compilation, buried in the deep blue sea of dust in the cold cold storage room...
richard lyons 9:34:53 PM
JJ perfect!
Rofflestomp 9:35:28 PM
@Alan, in that storage space no one can hear ya screaming along. Wire it fer sound! :)
Alan Pasnyk 9:40:07 PM
@ Roffelstomp: A few weeks ago it went down to 40 deg. in that storage room, can hardly wait for spring to dig out me vinyl..
Commie Francis (host) 9:45:30 PM
soon Alan!!
Commie Francis (host) 9:45:47 PM
i had to pack up most of my records for a few months when we moved last, it was brutal
Rofflestomp 9:46:09 PM
@Alan, I left my prized Van Wilks vinyl in an attic in Texas and the poor thing will never be right again. LOL Cruel sneaky world.
Ambrose Hughes 9:48:18 PM
THIS
Alan Pasnyk 9:49:28 PM
Best to store vinyl upright on it's side, far from heat and free from silverfish, sadly I have learned the hard way...
Rob from Maryland 🦀 🇺🇦 🌻 🇮🇷 9:49:33 PM
Bo, I agree!
Alan Pasnyk 9:50:00 PM
Yes, this Maddy is Beautiful!!!
Scooter France 9:51:25 PM
I loved that Isuroh Shimoda song. I the name didn't ring a bell, but I googled his name and he was in Tokyo Kid Brothers. I have a grey area reissue/boot of the TKB album Throw Away the Books, We're Going into the Streets, which I love. I also see his solo album just got reissued, but all copies appear to be in Japan, which makes it really expensive.
Commie Francis (host) 9:52:07 PM
that record is great and yeah, very difficult to find here even on reissue
Commie Francis (host) 9:52:29 PM
i think it actually just autoplayed on youtube one time and that's how i learned about it
Rofflestomp 9:53:06 PM
@Alan, yea, my trust in random accommodations have definitely been shattered, Learning curves want that pound O'flesh.
richard lyons 9:53:15 PM
🔥💥
richard lyons 9:54:06 PM
🛟🛟
richard lyons 9:56:05 PM
Commie double shot!
Commie Francis (host) 9:57:14 PM
not a sausage to do!
Rofflestomp 9:57:49 PM
OMG, I would think XTC in a heartbeat on first listen.
Commie Francis (host) 9:58:10 PM
i never thought of that but i can totally see it!
Alan Pasnyk 10:00:11 PM
...Great song...
Commie Francis (host) 10:00:25 PM
all this record talk is making me miss my scratchy record of transistor sister
Commie Francis (host) 10:00:35 PM
i mean i have it but i can't play it on the air
richard lyons 10:00:45 PM
yipee
Commie Francis (host) 10:00:53 PM
i used to let some of the dead wax play at the beginning on purpose :(
richard lyons 10:01:22 PM
love crackle cackle
Alan Pasnyk 10:01:41 PM
same here, better with age..
Alan Pasnyk 10:02:20 PM
....but not on new stuff!
Rofflestomp 10:03:15 PM
Some fingernail filings could breing back the vibe, the precise pops and skips are a much higher level of retro-production for sure.
Alan Pasnyk 10:06:00 PM
Repeat skips are definitely out, got a linear drive turntable...
Commie Francis (host) 10:06:33 PM
there is a skip on my copy of pink flag by wire, i kinda got used to it. it is in a spot that works
richard lyons 10:06:57 PM
:)
Rofflestomp 10:09:05 PM
Yea Commie, those type of skips are just kinda the song now. Quite personalized for sure. :)
Scooter France 10:15:34 PM
the word underrated is super overused, but I think the Lines are really underrated. Like, deep post punk heads really like them, but they have so many awesome songs, they should be famous on a Wire kind of level, and some of their best songs like "On the Air" and "Nerve Pylon" are like top of the heap post punk songs.
Commie Francis (host) 10:16:53 PM
yeah dana grabbed that record for me for shockingly cheap! i think it was $10?
Colin 10:18:49 PM
i may have only turned up for the 3rd hour but this third hour is fantastic!!
Commie Francis (host) 10:19:10 PM
first 2 hours were chiller and full of DEATh
Colin 10:22:44 PM
2 out of three stereos in the apartment are tuned in! and kinda cranked. i'm the only one in the triplex at the moment
David Shortell 10:27:14 PM
Silverfish don't harm the vinyl itself, do they, Alan Pasnyk?
richard lyons 10:28:15 PM
🤍🔥
Colin 10:28:48 PM
dang man, i just looked at what tonights theme was. I love boats! and yeah, when songs are written about boats, they usually are about them sinkin.
Colin 10:29:35 PM
*note to self, write song about the floatiest boast ever.
Alan Pasnyk 10:30:34 PM
@ David: Hi! No, not directly, but they chew up the paper and cardboard sleeves, and leave droppings on the vinyl which can be brushed off...
Commie Francis (host) 10:30:56 PM
best of friends - sailing is just about having a nice time on a boat but i played it on my ocean show!
Commie Francis (host) 10:32:38 PM
omg i just realized i missed a VERY IMPORTANT SONG in my show!! i think it was a file type problem
Commie Francis (host) 10:32:49 PM
i guess i'll save it for end of the year show
Rofflestomp 10:35:20 PM
Least we forget, vinyl geeks have needle problems. File problems are Fentanyl? Dunno...
David Shortell 10:35:51 PM
Yecch. I wish I bought more polyethylene sleeves.
David Shortell 10:36:24 PM
“Ever notice how much the MC5 sound like Foreigner?” ad-libbed Mark Sultan at an Almighty Defenders (King Khan & BBQ plus the Black Lips) show I attended in 2009.
Colin 10:37:42 PM
🎷🎷🎷
David Shortell 10:38:48 PM
I liked the Stooges but knew nothing about Destroy All Monsters when I went to see Dark Carnival at Maxwell’s in 1997. I wondered who the lady singing was.
Alan Pasnyk 10:40:47 PM
This Goodsons= 🎸🎶
Commie Francis (host) 10:43:20 PM
alert i'm going to play THREE australian bands!!!
Commie Francis (host) 10:43:53 PM
Alan I know their... drummer I think. from when he was in crust bands.
Alan Pasnyk 10:45:45 PM
@ Commie: Yeah, great drums on that one..
Rofflestomp 10:49:12 PM
I do like this one a bunch Commie. I am right back to XTC'ish in the vocal ear. LOL. Nice.
richard lyons 10:56:14 PM
top shelf. thanks CF!
David Shortell 10:57:36 PM
I never knew that Rare Breed single was mistitled “Come AND TAKE A RIDE IN My Boat” instead of “Come ON DOWN TO My Boat”. There may be no authentic concert footage of the song, but Every Mother’s Son mime to it in a “The Man From U.N.C.L.E.” episode.
Rofflestomp 10:57:46 PM
Hey thanks for the show. Nice chat there folks. Interesting stuff. Set the main jib for that darn star, and on till dawn.
David Shortell 10:58:08 PM
Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick & Tich were amazingly huge in Britain–yet if most Americans know them at all, it’s from Quentin Tarantino’s “Death Proof”.
Ambrose Hughes 10:59:43 PM
Fab show Commie, thank you!🙏
Commie Francis (host) 11:00:15 PM
thanks for your suggestions Bo! Thanks everyone for listening!
