@Lee Chandler - The sequence of events was as follows: Dog suddenly whines in such a way she usually reserves for one of two scenarios: Scenario #1: It's her dinnertime and she is mad I haven't fed her yet (It's not her dinnertime for another hour, but she sometimes gets confused by these short days/early sunsets and thinks it's later than it is.

Scenario #2: She heard one of us pull into the driveway and start unlocking the front door, at which point she gets so excited and anxious, she whines urgently

@DSM - Too many mandatory all-school pep rallies during the school day made me fairly resentful of The 'DAWGS, especially since I played soccer for the school but we only had pep rallies for boy's basketball and football. And also, I was forced to play "We Will Rock You" and "Another One Bites the Dust" on clarinet with the school band in the bleachers, and I like Queen, but not those two freakin songs I had to play a million times!

My dog would always need to sit on the couch to look out the window. When I gave away the couch she would go nuts jumping around at any sound going on outside.

@Lee Chandler - I gazed down at her just before going on air and she looked up at me innocently, but I think she's up to something and I couldn't see the whole kitchen and didn't have time to go down there, so we'll see!!

@Number 6 - My mailman has been bribing my dog daily with a biscuit and she never used to freak out or bark at him, but NOW she does cuz she's jonesing for her newly-acquired mid-day biscuit fix

Lizbot, understandable. Forced anything at that age will make one hate the dawg-gone thing!

It's amazing how many people randomly carry biscuits for dogs they don't know! SO many local businesses give her biscuits, and she has memorized each and every one and pulls us towards them until we go in - SNEAKY way to get more business!

I wish the mailman would bring me a buttermilk biscuit everyday

Do you have biscuits in reserve or does she just get the shakes the days he’s off?

@Lee Chandler - Oh, we have a reserve of biscuits, but now she's grown accustomed to MORE biscuits, and particularly the mid-day biscuit!

@Rob - I always name my shows, so even when there isn't a theme, I just come up with whatever strikes me at that moment, and I've always liked that word!

That last track, My Perfect Cousin, is by a Northern Irish band, which reminds me to recommend the show Derry Girls for anyone who hasn't seen it here, esp. if you grew up around catholic nuns and Irish people like I did! A funny show with occasional drama.

@Addie - I'm glad to hear it! Yeah, it was a trying day for me and started out badly, but it turned around for me as soon as I hit the airwaves!

@Brian D - I toured WWOZ, an independent station like PRB, in NOLA and had a great talk with the DJs.

I can imagine getting a furry computer from a Build-A-Bear store. 💻

DOG MYSTERY SOLVED

I just saw that Lisa Marie Presley suffered cardiac arrest. Condition unknown.:(

My husband just got home: I KNEW the dog was up to no good at the beginning of my show but I couldn't go down and check on her and I'm at the top of a spiral staircase, which she refuses to use (for good reason! She'd break herself on it) so I couldn't call her up here or check on her, but APPARENTLY she knocked over a bag that had some books and a tin of hot cocoa mix in it! THANKFULLY she managed to not pry open the tin!

My big sister had a copy of Switched-On Bach (LP of course. We were kids) What a work that recording was. Synthesizers could only play one note at a time, so to record a chord they had to record each note of the chord separately. 🎹

@Number 6- Whoa! I believe she was JUST at the Golden Globes on Tuesday night! She was there because of that Baz Luhrmann Elvis movie getting nominated in some categories, I think best actor? I dunno, I am not a fan of Baz

@Wesley - I have friends who released collage music in the 70s where they had to splice the tape a zillion times with reconnect it. And now...Garage Band! Or Logic or whatever program can do that stuff so quickly! I still enjoy a good audio collage! I really liked the most recent Negativland album

@Lizbot - closest I ever got to something like the collages was splicing leader tape onto my reels of 1/4” tape. Back then cassettes were still only for answering machines - Dolby noise reduction was a few years away.

@Wesley - I miss my old answering machine tapes! I only had an answering machine with a cassette tape in college and for the first half of my 20s, at which point it was pretty much all early cellphone digital voicemail, which sounded so much worse! I used to love recording my outgoing voicemail message on the tapes cuz you could play a song behind yr voice and it actually sounded pretty good. NOT so with the cell voicemail messages!

@Wesley - I saved a some of my favorite voicemail cassettes for years, especially the ones with early messages from my husband from when we were first dating, but those are looooong gone!

@Lizbot - we didn’t own a copy of the Well Tempered Synthesizer. PS - I’d guess that album name might be an inside joke as early synthesizers were notoriously difficult to keep in tune!

@Wes / TAndy - The ultimate would be if you could find an old Tandy company jacket in a thrift market. Back when the Pennsauken Mart still existed, it had my favorite clothing store: it was nameless but we just called it The Work Clothes store and it was just used uniforms and work clothes, most still with their name tags, plus a bonus bin of old used name tags I LOVED digging through! I found such name tags as "Lead Man Handle" in that bin!

My favorite jacket of my 20s came from the work clothes store at the Pennsauken Mart: It was a Firestone Tires jacket with the name "Steve" on it and when I used to go to Madrid a lot to stay with a good friend who lived there, everyone called "Esssteve!!"

The comedian Jo Firestone should have that jacket!

@TAndy - That place was SO much fun to visit! RIP The Mart! It had a giant sign outside that said "45 years strong and still going" and that sign looked at LEAST 40 years old when it closed in 2005/6ish. My husband got his first guitar here when he was 14
