Jade Warrior was an unconventional British progressive rock band formed in 1970. During their 1974-1978 period ("Island years"), it was mostly Jon Field & Tony Duhig playing all instruments, with assorted guest musicians, including Steve Winwood and Fred Frith. Wikipedia

Jon Field had played flute on Mike Oldfield's "Tubular Bells" in 1973. That, and some networking by Steve Winwood of Traffic, helped get Jade Warrior a 4-LP contract with Island Records. "Way Of The Sun" was the fourth and final LP for Island Records.

This was a Carlos Santana project, but was released under the name "Devadip" (the "spiritual name" given to him by cult leader Sri Chinmoy). Soon, he would start bristling at Chinmoy's demands and restrictions, and ended his association with the cult by 1982.

This LP offers a mix of songs; there are some catchy rock songs, some fusion, and plenty of sappy spirituality.
