| Lou Reed Walk on the Wild Side Transformer RCA/Legacy 1972 In 1970, Lou Reed left the Velvet Underground during the recording of "Loaded". "Transformer" was his solo debut. "Walk On The Wild Side" is a countercultural anthem, Lou Reed's biggest hit and his signature song. Surprisingly, it got wide radio airplay, despite dealing with subjects considered taboo at the time, including transgender people, drugs, male prostitution, and oral sex. The song's risqué lyrics refer to real people he met at Andy Warhol's New York studio. Wikipedia And I'm sorry, but despite commercial airplay, I still had to edit this track for the FCC. |
