With Readie Righteous

Shake off the week, oh Righteous Ones! It's everything from Acid-Folk to Ziglibithy. Light the candles, drape your scarfand feather boa, and do your interpretive dance to ambient, Afrobeat, international, Tuareg, Tuvan throat singing, queercore, gnawa, pop, disco, post-punk, jazz, soul, R 'n' B, obit-core and more. Opportunistic singing-along with your DJ is de rigeur. Your lagniappe: historical perspective, social consciousness, irreverence.

Ossy Hyouka 6:48:44 PM
Hello Matt
Mark Reichard 6:49:40 PM
The Todd Rundgren/Thomas Dolby track is called "I'm Not Your Dog"
Richard from Rocky Hill 6:52:11 PM
Hi Readie & friends! Please help me on this: I was dang-near certain there was a Weird Al Yankovic takeoff on "She Blinded Me with Science" that was the angry lament of a woman against her boyfriend's thoroughly non-romantic gifts titled "He Bought Me an Appliance!" ("And last birthday it was the Pocket Fisherman!") But just googling, I couldn't find it. Maybe it was by a Weird Al wannabe? Or did I dream this brilliant concept, which will now be ripped off by some fellow Righteous One? HELP!
Readie Righteous (host) 6:52:12 PM
Thx, Mark - I'll check it out!
Readie Righteous (host) 6:53:21 PM
@Richard - I'm not familiar - anyone know?
DSM 6:55:11 PM
Richard, maybe an old advert for P.C. Richard & Son?
Matthew Maginley 6:55:17 PM
havent heard LL in years "lucky number" oweh oh! thank RR
Readie Righteous (host) 6:55:35 PM
I do know I don't care for appliance gifts....lol
Readie Righteous (host) 6:56:17 PM
@Matthew - she just happens to have collabed with Dolby!
Matthew Maginley 7:02:18 PM

@Matthew Maginley Liz Bot plays Lene Lovich occasionally on their show DoublePlusGood. Thursdays 5-8pm
Shut Up Wesley 7:05:15 PM
SCIENCE!! Happy birthday Thomas Dolby. Glad to know you’re still out there reducing hiss.
Richard from Rocky Hill 7:05:28 PM
@ DSM: No, not an ad. And I do recall a music video with the male singer's voice under a closeup of the distraught woman mouthing the words about "the Pocket Fisherman" and (I think) "the Cuisinart" ...
Shut Up Wesley 7:06:35 PM
Ken Nordine! Flibbidy-jib-bop-a-bippity-bop. How are things in your town?
Matthew Maginley 7:07:01 PM
hi ShutUpWesley, thanks I will check out Liz Bot
TAndy 7:08:11 PM
Hey Readie! I found the side entrance for the chat :)
Readie Righteous (host) 7:09:16 PM
@Wesley- Hi! Yes, Lizbot's show is awesome- my radio sister!!!!
Alan Pasnyk 7:09:18 PM
Lizbot has a parrot named "Fripp"..
Readie Righteous (host) 7:10:14 PM
Hi TAndy! Yes! glad yu found us!
Matthew Maginley 7:10:21 PM
aw hell no~~~about as menacing as lip stick and fishnets~~~~it's HOT! Berlin Style
Readie Righteous (host) 7:10:33 PM
@Alan- yes, I am aware of the lovely Fripp!
Readie Righteous (host) 7:12:07 PM
@Matthew! Yes, not menacing at all - I agree, it's actually very hopeful, back 45 years ago - Bowie was the visionary and peop;e were a bit taken aback!
Matthew Maginley 7:12:17 PM
hi TAndy~~
TAndy 7:12:55 PM
Hi there
Richard from Rocky Hill 7:14:46 PM
Readie Righteous (host) Thanks for all the Thom Dolby career info & trivia. I had no idea he composed "New Toy," so memorably realized by Lene Lovich.
Readie Righteous (host) 7:17:05 PM
@Richard - you are welcome....and your question remains a mystery for now!
Richard from Rocky Hill 7:19:32 PM
@ Readie Righteous (host) If I can perform the golden google or the sterling search that unblinds me, I'll definitely let you know!
Readie Righteous (host) 7:19:32 PM
This Bowie def fits in with the SPOOKY SEASON!
Readie Righteous (host) 7:21:06 PM
@Richard- please do let me know! Then again, it may have been an elaborate, lucid dream!!
Readie Righteous (host) 7:21:24 PM
(They are the best dreams)
TAndy 7:21:52 PM
Ooh love this
Alan Pasnyk 7:22:15 PM
Great Spoooky Music..
Richard from Rocky Hill 7:22:16 PM
@ Readie Righteous (host) (True, true. I never thought I really had them, but maybe ...)
Readie Righteous (host) 7:22:43 PM
@Alan - Bowie and Eno, of course!!
Alan Pasnyk 7:23:11 PM
@ Readie: What a combination!
Readie Righteous (host) 7:23:52 PM
@Richard - I try to remember dreams...in native American culture, there are times in the morning when they sit in a circle and relate their dreams....
Brian D 7:35:07 PM
The Brian Eno ideas are great on paper (ha ha)
Alan Pasnyk 7:38:58 PM
@ Readie: So it's back to Dr.Terenzia taking visual astronomy and put to music, kinda like the opposite of "Synesthesia" which is hearing music and seeing images, any comment??? Is there a word for that??
Ossy Hyouka 7:39:45 PM
Cute
Alan Pasnyk 7:40:05 PM
BTW Love this Glass..
Readie Righteous (host) 7:40:14 PM
@Brian D! Oh no! are you giving ENo the side-eye?!?!? LOL!
Brian D 7:40:24 PM
I think synesthesia includes a possible mix of any senses. Smelling colors, tasting sounds, hearing textures/touch
Readie Righteous (host) 7:40:50 PM
@Alan, Dr. T calls it "Acoustic Astronomy"
Ossy Hyouka 7:41:06 PM
Sounds like something quite off from Nightmare Before Christmas
Brian D 7:41:09 PM
David could give Eno 2 diff color side eyes. Talented cat that
Alan Pasnyk 7:42:00 PM
What Great Music, never heard this!!
Readie Righteous (host) 7:42:11 PM
@Brian- funny! actually, Bowie didn't have 2 different color eyes - he suffered an injury which caused the effect (fight over a girl in grammar school)
Brian D 7:42:20 PM
Yes read that in the bio
Readie Righteous (host) 7:42:31 PM
@Ossy- sure does!!
Brian D 7:42:45 PM
Ought to read that one again.
Readie Righteous (host) 7:42:54 PM
Did you read the Pegg bio, Brian D??
Matt Maginley 7:42:58 PM
First part of the main melody reminds me of "The letter" from Eugene Onegin by Tchaikovsky
Brian D 7:43:11 PM
This is very Glass sounding yes. Very nice.
Readie Righteous (host) 7:43:21 PM
@Matt- you are our classical interpreter tonight, thanks!
Ossy Hyouka 7:43:40 PM
Saw that 1993 movie last night on the Freeform channel, Readie! Cute scary movie!
Alan Pasnyk 7:44:04 PM
Just 5 Sec. into the track i recognized his "hand"..
TAndy 7:44:17 PM
Dat hair
Brian D 7:44:27 PM
Yes pretty sure the main one I read was the Pegg book. And some others that were more song by song album by album instead of full life bio
Brian D 7:45:13 PM
Yep checked the ebook files.. definitely Pegg. Good read
Readie Righteous (host) 7:45:59 PM
I will def have to check that one out!
Readie Righteous (host) 7:47:00 PM
@Ossy- I will check that movie, thanks for the tip!
Readie Righteous (host) 7:47:18 PM
@TAndy ALL hail the hair of the 80's

Readie Righteous (host) 7:47:48 PM
Cool, Wesley- good times!
Alan Pasnyk 7:48:44 PM
BTW I incorrectly identified Lizbot's pet as a parrot, actually Fripp is a "Crimson Bellied Conure"....Sorry Liz!!
Alan Pasnyk 7:49:42 PM
...and coming up, Dancing Conure music!!
Readie Righteous (host) 7:50:28 PM
AHHH, I kinda thought it wasn't a parrot- cool! A crimson-bellied conure! I would love to see Fripp dance to these 80's gems!
Shut Up Wesley 7:50:30 PM
@Readie Righteous Yes, Bowie had one pupil that was permanently dilated. Not a different color iris.
Shut Up Wesley 7:52:00 PM
Ms Bot posts pics of her birdies on FB occasionally. Fripp is very cute! And apparently loves her hubby George K.
