RIP Diane Luckey. Also known as Q Lazzarus, was an American singer. She is best known for her 1988 song "Goodbye Horses", which became a cult classic after being prominently featured in a scene from Jonathan Demme's 1991 film The Silence of the Lambs. I read that Q met Jonathan Demme in a cab she was driving and he cast her in Silence.

Back to Elvis director- I’ve never seen a mass walk out of a packed theater like I did after 10 minutes opening night of Moulin Rouge. Astonishing!
David Shortell 4:06:11 PM
It was bold of Sparks’ Ron Mael to revive the toothbrush mustache which was a popular style until that German guy ruined it for everybody (e.g., Charlie Chaplin, Oliver Hardy, Max Fleischer, J. Jonah Jameson).
Jon Solomon 4:06:28 PM
A friend worked on a Baz project and it sounded like...quite the experience. Wildly over-budget, production often halted while the director followed a different muse for a few weeks, etc....

And Don Cheadle/ Ewan M in the loose Miles Davis thing few years ago. That was a fun ride that captured a strained era. Doesn't matter if true or not... it was known that the film was not intended to be a long full life story. Just a "hey this could have happened..." take

@ Esoterica (host) Loved "Oh Marie" by the great Louis "The Wildest" Prima. If you haven't played it yet during Filmscape, how's 'bout "I Wan'na Be Like You (The Monkey Song" from Walt Disney's 1967 version of The Jungle Book ? The song features Prima as King Louie of the monkeys and Phil Harris as Baloo the Bear: two old entertainment pros at the top of their games!
dan Cochrane 4:10:45 PM

Rofflestomp 4:23:28 PM
The original Grimm tales are now within the realm of Disney. They are getting darker with age.
Ossy Hyouka 4:23:48 PM
Dan, that disney movie and Jenny Slate are a huge part of history, nothing unnatural to mention fictional stuff in real life
dan Cochrane 4:24:00 PM
Only 3 hearts? No rainbows, unicorns, mermaids, from a skull?
Brian D 4:24:08 PM
I had a rare lp copy of Marcel Marceau's greatest hits too . Fidelity out of this world.. no really tho that was a fake advert from Games Magazine. They stuck a fake ad in each issue. Fun stuff! Late 1970s early 80s. Not video. Games as in puzzles etc
-ᎷяMΔᏞᏨØИᎢΞNᎢ-💀 4:24:16 PM
this guy right now
Ossy Hyouka 4:24:25 PM
Huge part in Jenny's life, which she's memorable for
dan Cochrane 4:25:15 PM
“Huge” “history”, you better look them both up.
Rofflestomp 4:25:53 PM
Marcel Marceau was the iconic meme Mime.
Brian D 4:25:56 PM
Yup... there is a Reddit for Games Magazine fake ads.... instant Google auto complete... my people are out there!
dan Cochrane 4:26:06 PM
Rimshot Brian! I set you up again.

@ Esoterica (host) Happy to suggest "The Monkey Song." Anything for more Louis Prima airplay! Thanks for playing "Oh Marie," Louis's tradeoffs on that one with longtime band arranger and sax player Sam Butera is a classic. Incidentally, Butera created the medley arrangement of "Just a Gigilo"/ "I Ain't Got Nobody" that was later totally appropriated, riff-for-riff (totally "riffed off" you might say! LOL) by David Lee Roth for his big Top-40 hit. With no credit given to Sam.
Inspector Callahan 4:28:34 PM
Callahan here greetings!
Richard from Rocky Hill 4:29:25 PM
@ David Shortell That's awesome about The Junk Rumblers doing "I Wan'na Be Like You" live. I gotta catch that sometime, thanks!
Richard from Rocky Hill 4:30:13 PM
@ David Shortell And thanks for the Junk Rumblers link.
Brian D 4:30:13 PM
The Onion took Games Magazine's idea and ran with it well. They had some great fake ads. "28 Piece Whisk Set! " "Smoke Alarm Featuring 'Sounds of the Rainforest". And "The Visorganizer" ha
Inspector Callahan 4:30:44 PM
The Friends of Eddie Coyle...one of Anthony Bourdains go to gangster faves!

Small Circle of Friends great song!
David Shortell 4:36:46 PM
Woody Allen’s 1965 sophomore standup album has its own audio-recorded sight gag. The track “Taking A Shower (A Pantomime)” is wordless. We can only guess what the audience is laughing at.
Ossy Hyouka 4:37:06 PM
MrM - Yes....

Esoterica (host) 4:43:51 PM

Brian D 4:44:31 PM
Mentioned many times in chat but, Stephen Bishop is the guitar player in that scene. On and On. Might be You (Tootsie theme) etc....
David Shortell 4:45:02 PM
@Inspector Callahan: I read George V. Higgins‘s “The Friends of Eddie Coyle”. The telephone booth bit where Eddie says “Fuck you, lady… and the horse you rode in on” may be the origin of that popular phrase, but it wasn’t used in the movie.
dan Cochrane 4:45:02 PM
Brian- let’s just say, “Walt” would have never cast a black actress as the “blue fairy” as they have in the new Pinocchio.Definitely not the nicest guy, Boss.
Grink Ashman 4:45:21 PM
Hey hey, you should do another run of this show. So good.
Brian D 4:46:22 PM
Yah never have been a fan of any part of that world Dan. But not because of Walt. Just a life long thing. I like violent R Rated cartoons ha

I believe it was Todd Abramson’s Satan Records’s 1983 anthology “What a Way to Die” that brought much-belated attention to the first record by the Pleasure Seekers (featuring Suzi Quatro and sisters).
Jon Solomon 4:57:21 PM
Incredible picture disc on that one if I am thinking of the same record...
