But they often played at the Court Tavern. Sadly, their singer (Tom Price) is no longer with us. He was an amazing singer, and also known (and feared) as someone with a nasty habit of beating up soundmen.

I stand corrected!

He called me on the air once, utterly bewildered that anyone was (still) playing his band on the radio in 2000-whenever-it-was.

Right on, Colin. Tom was a big and very imposing dude who owned his girth like a badge of honor. If I remember the lore correctly, "Ff" stood for "fucking fat".

Seriously, why the hell did I drink that stuff in the 90s? I don't think I could choke one down today, but it was THEE beer of gigs at Brownies, Mercury Lounge, Maxwells, Under Acme, etc. Thank god for progress.

The bar I managed in the 1990s had high end root beer on tap but that stopped after it was realized the employees were all drinking it for free.

I always thought the point of Grolsch was the novelty bottles it came in. And Ambrose, yes! Jenny Cream Ale, the official beer of every Bad Karma gig!

i delivered pizzas for pizzeria uno in philly in 93, the grolsch bottles were recycled as salad dressing bottles for the tables there. italian looking and stuff

I love this record so much. Believe that Mike found the CD for me in the budget bin at PREX and then another person found me a vinyl copy for $0.50 at a The Wiz that was going out of business.

Rewind to Mike L: Rolling Rock was "band practice beer" for me for a while. Good to quench, rest of guys did not like good stuff (1/2 Dingaling Lag fans , 1/2 RR fans in that band). So I did not tote the good stuff to practice. And then RR got bought. Another band friend hoarded a case from the end of the Latrobe PA era brewing. The Newark Rollin Rock is not good.

And Grolsch "clay top"" big bottles were a once in a while band beer too. The red/orange rubber rings are well known among guitar and bass players for an added straplock you put outside the strap after you attach it to the knob, Jen RR = Rolling Rock

Yes. Very much different when it was brewed in PA at the Latrobe brewery. I mean it was not grand cru champagne then but... it is really bad now. Like most mass produced beers
