I had a cat who liked to shred shades. Plus I don't like most shades. But I'm paying the price now. My show starts right as the sun hits this window next to my home studio computer at this time of year. I have weird-shaped super long windows too, but looks like I gotta break down and find something for them

@Ambrose - I have ac, which is not that strong right now. I am tempted to put one of those standing fans in here right next to the mic and back-announce songs into, making a electronic fluttery robot-voice

@Ossy - I hope you are staying cool! My home studio computer is right next to a shadeless window where the sun is blaring in on my face! Not as strong as it was at 5, thankfully!

I am, in my room with cool ac lol to neutralize the heat. I hate that feel of shadeless windows to have sun rays in your face! Thankfully your ac has been keeping you cooling company!

@Ossy - My AC is stronger in this room than the rest of my place, thankfully! I just need blinds/curtains! I have odd-shaped windows so I either need to make curtains or get them custom-made, and I've never bothered - I honestly don't like the look of most curtains anyway! But yeah, I'm starting to realize I need them!

@Ossy - At the top of the show I played the soundtrack to Studio Ghibli's Whisper of the Heart and it has a sort of ambient video game vibe

@Liz - Oh that Chibli's Whisper song, I heard that as well! It was beautiful and didn't know what it was at the time you played it. It does have an ambient game vibe and Stevie Wonder feel. Yeah curtains are a person's and animal's friend against hot sunray's!

@DTO - I am kind of amazed at just how much I hated Van der Graaf Generator when I tried listening as a teen, and it wasn't the music, it was all Hammill's voice. I thought, "WHO is this bombastic guy with these ridiculous vocals?!", but beginning in my late 20s I began to love him!

@Rob In Maryland - My parrots are loving the heat, but they aren't in the direct sunlight!

@Rob - Re: Mr. Catbird - It's been too hot for me to hang on the deck, so I don't know! As much as he gets on my last nerve, I wish him health and respite from the heat this week!

@Liz, Same. Only last year started appreciating VDGG.

@Ossy - Re: Curtains - true, but also gatherers of dust and enemy of my deceased cats, who used to shred them! I am currently cat-less, so I guess it's time I put some up in this room!

@Ossy - Yeah, I guess it had a bit of a Stevie feel. It was played during a scene where a large cat rides the bullet train alone

@DTO - Yeah, it took my getting into Peter Hammill's solo work first and then expanding to VDGG to appreciate it. So glad he played NEARFest Apocalypse!

@Addie - It's a really good show. I don't watch a ton of animated shows, but this one is great. Gets deep into female friendships, mental health, etc, but is also just absolutely delightful, funny and filled with surrealist scenes in a world called BirdTown, inhabited by birds and talking plants

@Addie - Definitely do! It's partway through its 3rd season right now. It keeps changing streamers, but it's currently on both HBO Max and I think Adult Swim Sundays at midnight.

Have been catching up on Tuca and Bertie now that it’s on HBO. Started with The Flood.

@DTO - I kinda wish I saw Phil just the once during his farewell tour several years ago. He has a serious terminal condition and sat for most of the sets apparently, but stood for "Take Me Home." It would've been corny to hear his cover of "can't hurry love" and whatnot, but I can't deny he left his mark on my childhood music experiences

@Wes - Oh wow! The Main Point! I used to live in Ardmore in the Haverford College Apartments in the late 90s. The Main Point had just been revived under new ownership and renamed simply The Point. I mostly only remember seeing the folk duo Rockwell Church there because a friend of mine wanted to go. One of the members of that duo was attending Haverford at the time. My parents saw some shows at The Main Point in the 70s

I got to perform at the old Main Point a couple of times with my acoustic folk trio. We got to open once for my banjo hero, John Hartford. He was very nice and complimentary to us! 🪕

@Dennis - If you like circuit bending, did you ever get to those Data Garden events that happened at Bartram's Garden in West Philly about a decade ago? Those were really fun and had an installation of circuit-bent toy instruments everyone could walk up and play
