Casey (host) 10:00:59 AM
Alright friends, come on in. The water's fine
TAndy 10:03:37 AM
Woo woo party time!
Chef Emeril Lagasse 🍳 10:03:43 AM
Did you salt the water first?
TAndy 10:05:08 AM
Throw some sodium in there to mix with the chlorine. Instant salt 😎
ROFFLESTOMP 10:06:32 AM
Himalayan pinky salt is cool.
Casey (host) 10:09:45 AM
Gonna have to give that a try but when and how did they start making lamps out of it?
Casey (host) 10:10:59 AM
TAndy is that why the bottom of the pool feels sandy?
ROFFLESTOMP 10:13:24 AM
Those guys were smart before their time. I think wiggling ones toes at the bottom of any body of water is a good survival technique. Water can be sacrry.
TAndy 10:13:58 AM
>;)
Krista 10:21:06 AM
Loved USA incantations
ROFFLESTOMP 10:22:18 AM
I like X, Some of their songs feel so raw. I love it. Thanks for the ditty liner note. I will look at that with my ears for sure.
Casey (host) 10:23:02 AM
@Krista, had to make some edits to that one but yeah it hits hard every time I hear it
Casey (host) 10:24:04 AM
@ROFFLESTOMP I have a cassette of that album somewhere, I wish I was able to dig it out in time for today
ROFFLESTOMP 10:24:59 AM
Dusting off the cassette player is task all in itself. :)
Chef Emeril Lagasse 🍳 10:25:31 AM
Damn I'm late to the pavement game lol
ROFFLESTOMP 10:26:11 AM
Meh, just take it up a notch Chef! :)
Krista 10:27:20 AM
The pavement game is more like Calvinball, come in whenever you want and the rules are flexible
Casey (host) 10:29:59 AM
The one strict rule is never bring up a word that rhymes with Pavement
ROFFLESTOMP 10:30:57 AM
Pavement is hard.
ROFFLESTOMP 10:35:15 AM
Love this Rage tune. Reminds me that my guitar cares not about what is played on it.
Casey (host) 10:35:56 AM
And overall this is probably one of the more conventionally played RATM songs
ROFFLESTOMP 10:36:38 AM
Wisely so.
ROFFLESTOMP 10:37:57 AM
I don't do MSG anymore. But good luck to them.
Casey (host) 10:38:46 AM
Too rich for my blood
ROFFLESTOMP 10:38:55 AM
Yuppers.
Casey (host) 10:39:36 AM
Did get to go once in high school when my friend a ticket raffle and I was like "Enjoy it while it lasts cause it's probably not gonna happen again."
ROFFLESTOMP 10:40:16 AM
Man, you called that one for sure. lol
ROFFLESTOMP 10:41:25 AM
I saw Chuck Barry there in my barely a teen youth. I hate that venue.
Casey (host) 10:45:13 AM
Can't think of the name without my mind going to Carl from Aqua Teen Hunger Force saying "I saw Styx there with the big Mr. Roboto... I got so arrested."
ROFFLESTOMP 10:46:08 AM
LMAO, too good!
ROFFLESTOMP 10:49:59 AM
And yeah, could have been arrested, just never got caught.
Casey (host) 10:51:20 AM
I fortunately have also never been arrested
ROFFLESTOMP 10:51:58 AM
Yup, never do that.
Casey (host) 10:54:41 AM
Strongly discouraged
ROFFLESTOMP 10:55:38 AM
I mean, protesting aside and here we go as a nation again. Just be safe and sane for Pete's sake. Which is a great tune btw.
ROFFLESTOMP 10:57:14 AM
My girlfriend gave me this album when it came out. Pardon my arthritis.
Casey (host) 11:02:23 AM
My Life In The Bush Of Ghosts? You both must been pretty plugged in at the time, or maybe when it came out it wasn't quite as overshadowed by Remain In Light as it seems today
Chef Emeril Lagasse 🍳 11:02:45 AM
"The opening of the album is taken from newsreel footage of policemen being given instructions how to cope with Beatles fans before a Beatles concert in 1966."
Casey (host) 11:04:28 AM
Oh really? The narrative I heard around this record is similar to the Brian Eno one that it used samples from 70s/80s televangelists
Chef Emeril Lagasse 🍳 11:07:41 AM
Sorry! I meant the cabaret voltaire track
Casey (host) 11:08:30 AM
Oh yeah I got that much I was just saying the reason why I played them back to back
ROFFLESTOMP 11:08:41 AM
She went to Julliard. Thanks to her I know every inch of that building. The third floor library is where the the dancers where in danskins. What a place.
ROFFLESTOMP 11:09:19 AM
She was always on top of music. Wonderful person.
David Shortell 11:13:34 AM
I think the Clash had to explain to oversensitive American listeners that that song wasn't so bad. It was nicer than the Exploited's USA song.
Casey (host) 11:14:48 AM
@David could not agree more. That Exploited song is a little too spicy for broadcast radio
ROFFLESTOMP 11:16:00 AM
@David Shortell - Totally agree, much import stuff was warped. But the cutoff bins were golden.
ROFFLESTOMP 11:32:19 AM
"When your movin' in the positive" Geez, Stevie Wonder could nail it hard at times.
Casey (host) 11:36:33 AM
He is truly an incredible talent
Casey (host) 11:37:38 AM
On a note completely unrelated to music, Pennsylvania still uses posters about drunk driving from a campaign he did in the '80s
Casey (host) 11:39:33 AM
One of the state stores near me has a poster that says "Before I'll ride with a drunk I'll drive myself" in the window
ROFFLESTOMP 11:41:04 AM
I only do bike trails and west Philly on my cool AF ebike these days, so no more billboards, just skylines these days. Now though, I feel that I am missing out on the new Americana.
Casey (host) 11:43:02 AM
The billboards and TV spots are long gone but the Commonwealth never seemed to stop printing the flyers
Casey (host) 11:44:05 AM
What kind of e-bike do you have? I got to try the ones from the bikeshare program in NOLA a few months back and I really want to get one
ROFFLESTOMP 11:44:21 AM
Yeah, and the wannabe town cryers are more than happy to pass them out.
Casey (host) 11:45:04 AM
Better yet, mod the hybrid I already have so I could flip the motor on for hills
ROFFLESTOMP 11:45:05 AM
I have a Lectric 2.0 with a shit ton of mods.
ROFFLESTOMP 11:47:03 AM
I bought an extra battery that was stolen from Fedex last week. Would have at least doubled my range. Arg!
Casey (host) 11:47:27 AM
I'll check it out. I think one of the student DJs here made a custom build and said they got up to 30 mph
Casey (host) 11:48:39 AM
Ooof that sucks. You can charge the batteries at home with a normal outlet I assume? Guess I hadn't considered that since you dock the bikeshare ones at a charging station
Richard from Rocky Hill 11:49:03 AM
@ Casey (host) As always, the Downer Party pix today has been an upper for me. Thanks! PS -- The "Scientist Encounters Pac-Man" art triumphantly wins the title of Greatest 1980s LP Art That I'd Never Seen Before ... :-))
ROFFLESTOMP 11:49:49 AM
Oh yes, moding will get great results. #0mph is awesome, I am good with 20 on demand and I just bought a freewheel that will give me the 30 MPH. I don't need to go faster than that.
Casey (host) 11:49:51 AM
@ Richard thank you thank you and I'm sure Scientist makes up most of the top 10 on that list
Casey (host) 11:51:38 AM
Yeah I really only need it for an assist. I have some nice bike trails around me but more big hills than I'd like. NOLA on the other hand was the easiest biking I've ever done in my life.
ROFFLESTOMP 11:52:53 AM
Yuppers, we ge to climb hills with ease. It's super cool!
Richard from Rocky Hill 11:53:16 AM
@ Casey (host) Right! And of course I meant to type "the Downer Party MIX today" ... but as I said, the pix have been awesome too ...
ROFFLESTOMP 11:57:41 AM
Thanks for the cool tunes and stuff Casey! Have a great day.
Casey (host) 11:58:36 AM
Thank you all for listening! Enjoy your holiday!
