This Kamasi Washington track really is a standout.

DSM, check out the song African Rhythms by them. There was an album version, and a totally different 45 version. Both outstanding and fun

@Brian, agree re: Cymande. DJs Mike Lupica & Esoterica playing Cymande this week really brought it to my attention.

Readie has played Oneness of Juju recently. And yes on the Kamasi being awesome! Get his discography! So many gems. He has an epic 3 cd release from a few yrs back wow

Cymande grew from a "funk hit" in the early 70s to a kind of legendary status. Other than their first album, I never really listened to Cymande other than that first album, but it was hot.

Cymande i also learned is was a popular source of samples. The "crate diggers " n dj's etc love them. Juju too probably

"Bra" was a big R&B hit in the early 70s. The label went out of business and I got big $$$ for that album.

Patrick, they were on Janus as I can recall. That's off the top of my head, I may be wrong. The valuable records I hid on my second floor. It created additional allure, also

Christine, I may have been misleading, they are the composers, the main guys, but they did use a couple of other musicians on this record.

Morris Mok, I did find out there is a THREE CD version of Shine on Brightly which is later than and sounds better than the v ersion I play

One of my most favorite bands...I was at that infamous Fillmore East concert to specifically see LOVE but the audience came to see The Kinks sing "Lola" and kept booing Love to get off stage...until Bill Graham came out and stopped the show and scolded the audience for their behavior telling them to go out and hang out in the lobby and let the Love fans enjoy the show...I was a Kinks fan anyway but it was Love I wanted/needed to see

Jerry....LOVE was everything I wanted and more....Ironically, it was the Kinks that had the magical moment....Ray had a problem with Dave being unable to play the lead parts of Kinks songs (that were done by Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck or Clapton on the singles) they would fight on stage and sometimes Ray would punch his brother...but that night managed to play everything well and after one of the more complicated riffs Ray walked over and hugged Dave and it brought the house down
