Divine Shadows Back Beat Edition 2006

Composer, singer and oud player, born 1967 in Teboulba, Tunisia. His grandfather was a muezzin.

He developed an interest in jazz at an early age and clandestinely listened to it during his education at a Qur'anic school. But he calls the radio "the most important school" for him. He left Tunisia to start a jazz career and has lived in Europe since 1990, usually in Paris or Vienna.

Miles from India Four Quarters Records 2008

I have been led to believe that Miles Davis performed in India. (The internet disputes this.) The concept of "Miles From India" is to have Indian and western musicians collaborate on rearrangements of his music. This track features Gary Bartz (jazz saxophonist born in Baltimore MD, based in Oakland CA), and Kala Ramnath (violinist from India).
