Now most picture Linda Manz sitting in on the ol’ trap set. Glorious!

There are a few very naturalistic moments in the movie I adored. This was one of the best. The other is her walking the streets by the dude with the tape recorder / transistor radio who clearly looks in the camera.

I know and have worked with an AD who was the first AD on Terence Malick's The New World. She said they would set up a shot, really involved, lots of extras in period costumes, ships, very complicated set ups. And they would look around for Terrence when it was time and no one could find him. He was off like shooting with his own camera, blades of grass moving in the wind, stuff like that. Drive production up the wall.

I didn't watch all FIFTEEN HOURS of DVD extras, but I did watch the short documentary about Linda Manz that had the drummer from Hole, Weasel Walters (?!) and a member of Death Valley GIrls in it.

Another “fun” Malick fact he listened to Green Day all while editing the thin red line.

So much of Days of Heaven was shot during magic hour (which is really like 20 - 30 minutes) - and sometimes that's all they would shoot. like just for 20 minutes after the sun disappared over the horizon and then call it a day!

Also a classic

Bonnie and Clyde is great, but Badland is up there on my short list of perfect movies. Easily one of the greatest debuts from a director.

Our hosts are trying to get all the footage out of the vaults as each set was recorded in full and the song choices were not made by the bands (and some of the decisions are odd ones).

There was a pretty classic hour long WPRB show called "Provoke The Listener" that one week played "Blinded By The Light" for sixty minutes straight. Each time they would come on and promise a different song next but it was always Manfred Mann.

"The Midnight Heckler what heckles at midnight"

They told listeners they were wrong and what they had heard had not happened. Or say "I'm sorry, I don't know what happened here. That wasn't supposed to play."

Wish I had a recording of it.

I'm the sort of listener who would revel in such. But Guitarzan would be my preferred provocation.

I once heard a college radio show that played nothing but that song for the 2 or so hour set. I think it was, "provoke the listener" on wprb out of princeton (103.3 in the trenton/philly area). That show, and that episode in particular was awesomely hilarious. The dude sang the lyrics wrong, so the chick, who apparently followed manfred man and his earthband around like a deadhead, schooled him on it. The father of a friend of mine in highschool started the magazine (and ran a Mr. Spudnuts shop) for a couple years before any of us were born
