A music in which each member’s singularity is never smoothed away, but instead becomes the very driving force of the group."

Hello Hello!
Number 6 5:00:17 PM
Greetings!
Lizbot (host) 5:00:38 PM
Hi Number 6!
Number 6 5:02:50 PM
The familiar music is starting!
Lizbot (host) 5:05:08 PM
@Number 6 - I am hoping you mean my transition music and not doom funk! But yeah, I heard my transition music on the little radio so I think we're good!
addie “5 snakes” plum 🐍 5:05:47 PM
Good evening!
Lizbot (host) 5:06:18 PM
Hi addie “5 snakes” plum 🐍!
addie “5 snakes” plum 🐍 5:06:44 PM
Hope you’ve been enjoying this gorgeous day!
Lizbot (host) 5:07:13 PM
@Hi addie “5 snakes” plum 🐍 - How're you and yours? I sadly did not get a lot of time outside today, other than driving! But it was pretty to drive in!
Lizbot (host) 5:08:32 PM
@Hi addie “5 snakes” plum 🐍 - And crucially, I had a rad dream just before waking this morning that George had intentionally flooded our yard and invited neighborhood dogs to swim in it and it became a popular dog swimming pool!
Lizbot (host) 5:08:50 PM
@Hi addie “5 snakes” plum 🐍 - So that was a good start to the day!
Number 6 5:10:42 PM
Doomfunk is always hopefully the unfamiliar music.
thomas hatch 5:11:25 PM
Hello LB & co! Beautiful day it is!
Lizbot (host) 5:11:27 PM
@Number 6 - Yes! It is the bizarro music from the opposite of airwaves!...groundlines??
Lizbot (host) 5:11:33 PM
Hi thomas hatch!
Danosaur🦖 5:11:44 PM
Hi Lizbot and chatters!
Lizbot (host) 5:11:58 PM
@thomas hatch - Windows open, gorgeous sky on drive here!
Lizbot (host) 5:12:04 PM
Hi Danosaur🦖!
thomas hatch 5:12:24 PM
Speaking of doom funk Jon played Al Cisneros dub doom. It was very interesting
Danosaur🦖 5:12:34 PM
I miss those days of cool album art
Lizbot (host) 5:12:41 PM
@addie “5 snakes” plum 🐍 - Hoping yr new commute is going smoothly!
Lizbot (host) 5:13:29 PM
@thomas hatch - oooh, yeah I got to tune in for the last hour of his show last night. I caught all that Sonic Liberation Front live set from the early aughts!
addie “5 snakes” plum 🐍 5:14:18 PM
@Lizbot Yard dog swimming pool sounds like something George would really do for some reason.
addie “5 snakes” plum 🐍 5:14:39 PM
@lizbot commute starts monday!
Danosaur🦖 5:14:47 PM
Album art always became linked to the music in my mind
Lizbot (host) 5:14:49 PM
@Danosaur🦖 - Yes! Well you could do more with the 12" LP covers, although at least those are coming back to some extent!
Lizbot (host) 5:15:14 PM
@addie “5 snakes” plum 🐍 - Yard Dog Swimming Pool is my new band
Lizbot (host) 5:15:53 PM
@addie “5 snakes” plum 🐍 - I woke up very happy about that doggo situation. Dogs were having a blast! I was on a deck watching em splash!
Danosaur🦖 5:15:57 PM
Yes, good band name 😄
Lizbot (host) 5:16:11 PM
@addie “5 snakes” plum 🐍 - Ah, I wish you well! Happy for you!
Lizbot (host) 5:16:28 PM
@Danosaur🦖- Yard Dog already probably is the name of something!
thomas hatch 5:16:34 PM
Doggy paddle
Danosaur🦖 5:17:39 PM
Don't you love waking up to a fun dream like that?
Lizbot (host) 5:17:41 PM
@thomas hatch - Maybe I should open a summer camp for dogs and stick them in canoes in my yard. Teach 'em to doggie paddle for real!
Lizbot (host) 5:18:19 PM
And this Louis Armstrong song would be the soundtrack to Yard Dog Swimming Pool!
Lizbot (host) 5:18:55 PM
@Danosaur🦖- It makes the day much better! Ironically, I was woken from this dream by my dog wanting her breakfast
thomas hatch 5:20:12 PM
Doggy canoes would be a hoot
Danosaur🦖 5:21:17 PM
@Lizbot I like waking up from a dream humming music that was playing in the dream
Danosaur🦖 5:22:42 PM
@thomas hatch - I'm assuming they would be bark canoes
Lizbot (host) 5:22:54 PM
@thomas hatch - All canoeing dogs must wear a jaunty handkerchief. It's the law/
Lizbot (host) 5:23:30 PM
@Danosaur🦖 - Bark canoes! Bah-dum-pah!
Danosaur🦖 5:24:24 PM
@Lizbot - of course jaunty kerchiefs are required
thomas hatch 5:24:34 PM
Salty Dogs! Ahoy matey’s!
Lizbot (host) 5:24:47 PM
@Danosaur🦖 - Dream music is great! It's usually something I don't recognize that my brain probably made up, sounds amazing, and then I can't always remember the tune upon waking, sometimes I can. But I rarely remember lyrics
thomas hatch 5:25:04 PM
@dano Lol bark canoe
Lizbot (host) 5:25:30 PM
@thomas hatch - I will salt said dog pool for dog campers to reach the required level of salinity
Richard of Rocky Hill 5:26:14 PM
Ha! "Tips for Teens" ... Sparks is magnificently fun and typically dead center in tweaking society. :-D
Danosaur🦖 5:26:21 PM
@Lizbot - same! Some very catchy tunes
Lizbot (host) 5:26:23 PM
Hi Richard of Rocky Hill!
thomas hatch 5:26:50 PM
I like the dreams where you’re on the way to the best show ever. You never actually reach the show in the dream but you wake up excited about it
Lizbot (host) 5:27:45 PM
@Richard of Rocky Hill - I love Ron's dry humor!
jimbooooo 5:27:51 PM
Tips for Teens: It'll get better, and adults are generally full o' shit
Danosaur🦖 5:27:53 PM
It's all about anticipation
Andrew Gotobed 5:28:51 PM
hi lizbot!
Danosaur🦖 5:29:04 PM
I've come to appreciate Sparks more over the years
Lizbot (host) 5:29:27 PM
@thomas hatch - THat's a pretty good one! Speaking of shows, I at least once a year have a recurring WPRB anxiety dream where I'm about to go on air and realize i have either no music or only a couple songs I don't like!
Lizbot (host) 5:29:43 PM
Hi jimbooooo!
Lizbot (host) 5:29:57 PM
Hi Andrew Gotobed!
Danosaur🦖 5:30:54 PM
@jim-booooo! Spooky
Lizbot (host) 5:30:55 PM
@jimbooooo - true!
Danosaur🦖 5:32:20 PM
@Lizbot - anxiety dreams are the worst. I consider them nightmares
Danosaur🦖 5:34:55 PM
@Lizbot - is Rusty Killbot the Killbots brother?
Lizbot (host) 5:38:35 PM
@jimbooooo - "Don't eat that ice cream! Is it vanilla? Give it to me!
Lizbot (host) 5:39:17 PM
@Danosaur🦖 - In the words of The Delta 5: "Anticipation is so much better"!
Lizbot (host) 5:40:21 PM
@Danosaur🦖 - We shall not speak of Rusty Killbot. I hear they are estranged!
thomas hatch 5:41:39 PM
I’m heading out for the evening y’all. Be listening in the car on the way LB so keep it going. Chats y’all later!
Danosaur🦖 5:42:14 PM
Bye Thomas!
Lizbot (host) 5:42:45 PM
@Danosaur🦖 - Anxiety dreams are my most common nightmares. But i guess all or most nightmares stem from &/or create anxiety! The recurring station one is fairly mild, it's just kind of funny the variations that occur within it. Like in one version of it I remember very vividly, I'm broadcasting from inside a Borders Books & Music circa 1995 or so and the ONLY music is a Celine Dion CD at the bottom of a big box of shredded paper!
Danosaur🦖 5:43:06 PM
Very psychedelic sounding
Lizbot (host) 5:43:46 PM
@thomas hatch - Thanks for stopping by in the chat! Happy to provide yr driving soundtrack!
Danosaur🦖 5:44:20 PM
@Lizbot - that is a very specific anxiety dream
Lizbot (host) 5:45:19 PM
@Danosaur🦖 - Full disclosure: I worked in the Center City Philly Borders Books & Music in the mid-90s and we had to display a Top 40 CD at the checkout counters and I remember specifically for a while it was a Celine Dion album the manager put out.
Lizbot (host) 5:46:05 PM
And I mistyped her name Celion Dion at first just then, so now I'm picturing a SeaLion Dion
Danosaur🦖 5:46:21 PM
@Lizbot - my anxiety dream used to be me working at my old restaurant job during a rush and falling further behind
Lizbot (host) 5:47:07 PM
@Danosaur🦖 - oh yeah. falling behind/barely keeping yr head above water during frantic tasks is definitely one I've had!
Danosaur🦖 5:48:36 PM
@Lizbot - so your dream has roots in a past experience too
Lizbot (host) 5:49:12 PM
@Danosaur🦖- I remember the Borders one so clearly, and that one is from like 20 years ago! I had one recently that was more like I was locked in a very 1970s looking studio that was not WPRB and there were only a few records in the studio but I couldn't get to the music library shelves because there was some kind of hostage situation right outside the studio door, so I just had to stay and play the same Bowie album over and over and it was a fictional Bowie album
Ossy 5:49:15 PM
hi liz
Lizbot (host) 5:49:20 PM
Hello Ossy!
Lizbot (host) 5:50:03 PM
@Danosaur🦖- I feel like that 70s station dream was at least partially influenced by having watched a lot of WKRP In Cincinnati as a kid!
Danosaur🦖 5:52:06 PM
@Lizbot - My restaurant job was a very long time ago too. Guess that work trauma sticks with you
Danosaur🦖 5:53:31 PM
@Lizbot - WKRP! Were they dropping turkeys from a helicopter? 😄
Lizbot (host) 5:54:02 PM
@Danosaur🦖- Oh yeah, it definitely does! I STILL think about the knife safety video we had to watch for food prep at my work-study mess hall job in the mid-90s!
Lizbot (host) 5:54:15 PM
@Ossy - Hope you're enjoying this gorgeous day!
Danosaur🦖 5:54:51 PM
Great Irma Thomas song. Love a good soul, story song
Lizbot (host) 5:56:06 PM
@Danosaur🦖- Yes! Turkey Drop! Their most famous episode I would guess! I think it was inspired by the real-life incident where a station decided to try to set a record by releasing the most helium balloons and it backfired spectacularly, which balloons getting caught in wires, grounding planes, etc!
Lizbot (host) 5:56:16 PM
@Danosaur🦖- Glad you enjoyed it!
Lizbot (host) 5:56:34 PM
@Danosaur🦖- I think the balloon incident was also in Cincinnati. Many of the balloons wound up in the river!
Lizbot (host) 5:58:08 PM
@Danosaur🦖- I loved Johnny Fever / Howard Hesseman. Guess I was destined to be a DJ. But the best thing about that show was that theme song! I couldn't resist singing it while visiting Cincinnati for the first time ever this summer
Danosaur🦖 5:58:50 PM
@Lizbot - Les Nessman reporting on the turkey drop like it was the crash of the Hindenburg is another reference
Danosaur🦖 6:00:23 PM
@Lizbot - oh, yeah! Those old theme songs were catchy
Ossy 6:01:13 PM
liz - beautiful gorgeous lovely day, this week for me, not at all.
Mats Sabbath 6:03:49 PM
swampwater mopdown! - doo rag
Lizbot (host) 6:05:15 PM
Hi Mats Sabbath!
Lizbot (host) 6:05:49 PM
@Ossy - SOrry to hear that! I hope your weekend makes up for it!
Danosaur🦖 6:05:57 PM
Ghengis Tron!
jimbooooo 6:06:11 PM
What horror/noir flick were you talking about? Also, I have the occasional Borders Walnut St catacomb dream
Lizbot (host) 6:06:45 PM
@Mats Sabbath - swampwater mopdown is my least favorite closing time task!
Lizbot (host) 6:07:26 PM
@jimbooooo - les diaboliques!
Lizbot (host) 6:08:37 PM
@jimbooooo - haha, oh right! I think in the past we determined that we both at some point worked at the old 1727 Walnut Borders! Ha! I am sure you knew some of the many Steves who worked there.
Danosaur🦖 6:09:11 PM
Any relation to Atilla the Hum?
Lizbot (host) 6:09:47 PM
@jimbooooo - I was there in the late 90s to 2000 or 2001. I opened the store January 1st, 2000 desperately hoping for a Y2K scenario
Lizbot (host) 6:10:26 PM
@Danosaur🦖 - ha, maybe related to Billy Joel's first band Atila!
Lizbot (host) 6:12:01 PM
@jimbooooo - I'm trying to remember all the people I worked with - There was Stevens, a woman with big black Lene Lovich hair who I looked up to. She always rode a very adorned vintage Schwinn around Center City and to work with a lot of dried flowers attached to her basket
Danosaur🦖 6:12:35 PM
@Lizbot - there used to be a club in LA called Ghengis Cohen
jimbooooo 6:14:49 PM
There were at least 5 steve/stephens I think!
Space Cowboy 6:15:10 PM
@ danosaur nice! The emile massoud was epic
Danosaur🦖 6:15:18 PM
@Lizbot - is this very emotional music a genre?
Lizbot (host) 6:15:22 PM
@jimbooooo - There were so many Steves, I remember them all using last initials
Lizbot (host) 6:15:28 PM
Hi Space Cowboy!
Lizbot (host) 6:15:43 PM
@Space Cowboy - Glad you enjoyed it!
jimbooooo 6:16:35 PM
Three Jim's when I was there, too!
Lizbot (host) 6:16:36 PM
@Danosaur🦖 - Ghengis Cohen? Fun!
Danosaur🦖 6:16:48 PM
Oh, yeah! Gettin' funky
Lizbot (host) 6:17:13 PM
@jimbooooo - What years? I was '98 to 2000 or 2001. I think I had left for Penn by late 2000
jimbooooo 6:17:24 PM
Oh 3 Jims, one James
Danosaur🦖 6:17:48 PM
Beware the vulture
jimbooooo 6:18:11 PM
I was 1992-99 I think
Lizbot (host) 6:18:38 PM
@jimbooooo - Did you work with Tom Concannon?
Danosaur🦖 6:20:22 PM
Great variety in today's playlist
Lizbot (host) 6:20:42 PM
@jimbooooo - I started around late '98, might have been early '99. I was in a string of bookstore jobs in my 20s, including The Owl Bookshop in Bryn Mawr, Atlantic Books in Cherry Hill, Bookline International on Pine St, Philly, Barbara's Books in the airport (worst location, best funnest staff!)
Lizbot (host) 6:22:30 PM
@jimbooooo - We might have overlapped, the place was big, but I don't remember a Jimbo, so we probably just missed each other. I was usually on registers
Danosaur🦖 6:22:36 PM
Did you work as a page?
Number 6 6:22:59 PM
I used to go to the old Borders on occasion, many decades ago, but I don't have much memory of who worked there. I used to live downtown.
Lizbot (host) 6:23:22 PM
@Danosaur🦖 - Nah, I was stuck on registers most of the time, and out in Rittenhouse Square on my lunchbreaks in good weather!
Danosaur🦖 6:24:54 PM
The beginning melody reminded me of the beginning of the song Big Country slowed down
Lizbot (host) 6:25:37 PM
@jimbooooo - Management made the cashiers repeat the same irritating sales promotions to every customer when they were just trying to check out, so we got chewed out a lot. I was there during one of those midnight Harry Potter releases and also some sort of goofy Pokemon card promo they had. BUT boy did I have a HUGE stack of 30% off staff discount books I special-ordered for myself always being held for me on the back shelves, so I got my money's worth!
Lizbot (host) 6:26:12 PM
@Number 6 - I lived in a studio at 16th & Spruce at the time
Lizbot (host) 6:27:09 PM
@Number 6 - But when I first started at that Borders, I was living in South Jersey and taking the PATCO to 16th & Locust stop, getting up too damn early when I was a night-owl going to a lot of house shows at the time
Lizbot (host) 6:28:21 PM
@Danosaur🦖 - haha, now I'll have to listen to "Big Country" slowed down!
Number 6 6:30:06 PM
I lived around 23rd and Walnut, so I did a lot of walking downtown.
Dale Hazelton 6:32:26 PM
evening. digging 'the trip' - sounds like 70s prog.
Lizbot (host) 6:33:17 PM
@Number 6 - Ah same! I always had my headphones in. Some girl I met at a party later told me when I ran into her again through mutual friends that she thought I was mad at her because she said Hi to me on the street and I didn't respond at all. I told her I guarantee I not only didn't see her, but was listening to Os Mutantes at hearing damage volume on my discman that got very loud with earbuds!
Rofflelectic TM 6:33:19 PM
Yuppers, great pot music 🎵

@Space Cowboy - Boogarins craft some good grooves!
TAndy 6:40:10 PM
Hey Liz!
Lizbot (host) 6:40:33 PM
@TAndy - Noise is Art. Art of Noise. Or perhaps a guy named Art from a band called Noise
Mats Sabbath 6:41:07 PM
Merzbox. The art of noise.
Zach 6:42:03 PM
Beep boop whir bzzt

@Mats Sabbath - I saw Weapons streaming last year and Backrooms with my teen in the theater. I liked it more than I thought I would. It definitely seems like it would lend itself to watching while high. I wasn't sure Backrooms would live up to the hype, but I didn't have as much invested in the lore as my teen did. She made me watch a couple loooong deep-dive videos on the lore of Backrooms memes before going to the movie!

Hi Zach!
Zach 6:43:51 PM
lol Hey Lizbot
Lizbot (host) 6:44:50 PM
@Mats Sabbath - Merzbox < Merzcar! When I was in San Francisco visiting a friend in the early 2000s, I REALLY wanted to encounter Merzcar driving around blasting Merzbow! I had a boss at Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts who played Merzbow in his office pretty much all day!
Lizbot (host) 6:45:28 PM
@Zach - Speaking of beeping and boops, my old nemesis Killbot is closing in!
Mats Sabbath 6:46:06 PM
Batboy driving around Merzcar
Lizbot (host) 6:46:50 PM
@Mats Sabbath - Merzcar with Batboy at the helm is peak late 90s/early 2000s lore!
Zach 6:47:23 PM
Killbot! I’ve actually missed the last couple reigns of terror, looking forward to the Ghouls
Rofflelectic TM 6:48:50 PM
OMG, that's right, Kilbot off the charging cable!
Rofflelectic TM 6:49:16 PM
Quick year, again...
Lizbot (host) 6:50:04 PM
@Zach - To quote Kate Bush: It's coming through the trees, Help me, someone, help me, please!
Lizbot (host) 6:50:30 PM
@Rofflelectic TM - Killbot is at the door. It knocks!
Lizbot (host) 6:50:51 PM
@Rofflelectic TM - Yeah, I've only recently accepted that summer is over
Richard of Rocky Hill 6:51:21 PM
Ah, Gal Costa!, our passion flower! My the sun shine ever upon your Flor de Maracujá !
Dale Hazelton 6:51:36 PM
crazy cream cover!
Rofflelectic TM 6:51:52 PM
The knock is coming from inside the house!
Lizbot (host) 6:52:40 PM
@Richard of Rocky Hill - She was the best!! RIP. I did a full-show tribute to her on air when she passed.
Lizbot (host) 6:52:55 PM
@Dale Hazelton - With soaring Minnie Riperton vocals, no less!
Dale Hazelton 6:53:19 PM
cool!
Lizbot (host) 6:53:32 PM
@Rofflelectic TM - From inside the studio storage closet, generally full of tape and mops!
Danosaur🦖 6:55:07 PM
Great cover of that Cream song
Lizbot (host) 6:56:15 PM
@Danosaur🦖 - Rotary Connection was great at giving their own twist on the songs they covered!
Space Cowboy 6:57:14 PM
Frig I stepped away for a second and missed tales of brave Ulysses
Lizbot (host) 6:57:30 PM
@Space Cowboy - Drats!
Rofflelectic TM 6:57:40 PM
Rotary twist...
Andrew Gotobed 6:58:12 PM

Mats Sabbath 6:58:18 PM
SWAMPWATER MOPDOWN
Lizbot (host) 6:58:48 PM
@Andrew Gotobed - Yes! There is a good doc about the brothers who made up the band Death, not to be confused with the metal band of the same name!
Lizbot (host) 6:59:28 PM
@Mats Sabbath - Let the swampwaters floooow!
Andrew Gotobed 6:59:57 PM
i remember hearing this when it came out and my mind was blown back then too
Mats Sabbath 7:00:19 PM
ah the mighty Death
Rofflelectic TM 7:04:33 PM
She was on the 1st SNL too...
Dale Hazelton 7:05:24 PM
a band called death is right on youtube.
Lizbot (host) 7:06:41 PM
@Andrew Gotobed - The Winston Brothers "Drift" or Death? Either one is great, but a lot of decades in between, though Winston Brothers' sound is very of the 70s!
Lizbot (host) 7:08:18 PM
@Rofflelectic TM - Minnie Riperton was musical guest on early SNL?? Wow, I never saw heard that! Gonna have to track down a clip
Lizbot (host) 7:08:58 PM
@Dale Hazelton - Good! I saw a screening of it when it came out, but I figured someone must've uploaded it to YouTube. So good!
Rofflelectic TM 7:10:23 PM
Eazy YouTube find these days.... :)
Bob Borowsky 7:21:38 PM
Just tuning in, but I wanted to give a shout out to the former City Gardens in Trenton, which is now a pile of graffiti covered rubble. I saw so many great bands there in the late 70's to mid 80s like 10,000 Maniacs, The Ramones, The Replacements, The Meatpuppets, Johnny Thunders, Cindy Lauper, The Violent Femmes, The Cucumbers, The Dead Kennedys, The Ben Vaughn Combo, The Fall, and even Henny Youngman (yes, Henny Youngman!), and so many, many more!
Lizbot (host) 7:22:18 PM
Hi Bob Borowsky!
Rofflelectic TM 7:22:26 PM
Time to bail from the river. Thanks for stuff if I don't get back soon enough to say goodnight proper. It's only a few blocks, but I am prone to dawdle... :)
Lizbot (host) 7:22:44 PM
@Bob Borowsky - I saw on social media that is was getting completely razed to the ground this week! RIP!
Andrew Gotobed 7:23:26 PM
Cardiacs! praise Tim 🐟
Lizbot (host) 7:23:43 PM
@Bob Borowsky - Central Jersey needs more places like City Gardens in its heyday. I know listener Dan Burke from the band Dinner used to work there
Lizbot (host) 7:23:54 PM
@Bob Borowsky - and of course Jon Stewart, famously!
Bob Borowsky 7:24:07 PM
I may actually drive down this weekend and take a look - what a place!
Lizbot (host) 7:24:18 PM
@Andrew Gotobed - I still need that Cardiacs doc! Praise Tim indeed! Sad end to him

Andrew Gotobed 7:25:25 PM
they were the finest pronkers
Lizbot (host) 7:26:17 PM
@Andrew Gotobed - So true! They did some kind of UK mini-tour after Tim's death in his honor, i believe under a different name
Mats Sabbath 7:29:01 PM
Pank -- Sgt. Papers
Lizbot (host) 7:29:31 PM
@Mats Sabbath - Sgt.'s papers, please!
Andrew Gotobed 7:29:50 PM

Andrew Gotobed 7:30:38 PM

Bob Borowsky 7:31:15 PM

Lizbot (host) 7:38:48 PM

George Korein 7:43:30 PM

Bob Borowsky 7:43:45 PM

Lizbot (host) 7:48:26 PM
@Mats Sabbath - oooh, Ferdinand Richard! He's a founding member of Etron Fou Leloublan, along with saxophonist Chris Chanet! I LOVE Etron Fou and play them on my show, but I have never checked out Ferdinand Richard's solo music, so thanks for pointing me towards that!!
Mats Sabbath 7:49:56 PM
