Methuselah OST sound as language 2021
Manchester-based composer/performer Will Robinson's soundtrack to METHUSELAH, an interactive digital narrative by artist Elle Bulger. The story guides the reader-player through a series of vignettes taking place in the non-human world, exploring the often unseen connections, competitions and collaborations between flora, fauna, landmasses, weather systems and celestial bodies. It's also a celebration of the history of digital narratives, with influences ranging from dating simulators and text-based adventure games to classic JRPGs. This music is intended not only to be a backdrop to the artwork but an aesthetic, narrative and conceptual response to it.

Hello Hello! It's good to be back!
Number 6 5:01:04 PM
Greetings!
Lizbot (host) 5:01:16 PM
Hi Number 6!
thomas hatch 5:01:59 PM
Hello in there
Number 6 5:02:12 PM
The familiar intro is playing!
Lizbot (host) 5:02:21 PM
Hi thomas hatch!
thomas hatch 5:04:47 PM
Is that the Brazilian Nico?
Number 6 5:05:17 PM
I will be going to Smithville Synth Night soon, but I will listen in the car.
thomas hatch 5:06:08 PM
I like Smithtown. Where do they have events like that?
thomas hatch 5:06:25 PM
Smithville
Lizbot (host) 5:06:27 PM
@thomas hatch - oh man, basically! Yeah, Ney does sound a LOT like Nico, now that you mention it! He'd been around for a while by '73, but didn't get local fame in Brazil until that time.
Lizbot (host) 5:06:49 PM
@Number 6 - Have fun!
thomas hatch 5:07:06 PM
Oh it’s a man ok
Lizbot (host) 5:07:30 PM
@thomas hatch - His countertenor voice is almost falsetto but not quite, which does land it right smack dab in that Nico range
Lizbot (host) 5:08:04 PM
@thomas hatch - He was known for his high voice, and Nico for her low voice, and they sorta meet in the middle!
thomas hatch 5:08:15 PM
Yeah I was getting a little femme fatal vibe
Lizbot (host) 5:10:06 PM
@thomas hatch - That's actually pretty on brand for Ney Matogrosso! He is still kicking, in his 70s now, and he was a very expressive dancer with over the top costumes when he sang. He's an homme fatal! But yeah, he could cover Nico's Femme Fatal well I'm sure
thomas hatch 5:13:24 PM
an homme fatal, nice
thomas hatch 5:16:00 PM
Kinda bummed #6 left I have a friend who makes music I think he might like
thomas hatch 5:16:30 PM
Wondering if he’d be interested in checking it out
Lizbot (host) 5:16:39 PM
@thomas Hatch - He's usually here at the beginning of the show, so I imagine he'll be back next week!
thomas hatch 5:17:49 PM
Really like his show especially the mini drama series he plays
thomas hatch 5:18:21 PM
But I can’t ever chat because I’m always driving when he’s on
thomas hatch 5:19:34 PM

JimmyCarter IsMy Hero 5:20:51 PM
Hi, Welcome Back
thomas hatch 5:22:06 PM
Thought we should be saying that to you @j carter
Lizbot (host) 5:22:19 PM
Hi JimmyCarter IsMy Hero!
thomas hatch 5:22:50 PM
We were already here it’s you who came back
Lizbot (host) 5:23:04 PM
@thomas hatch - Fishing with John was SO great. I rewatch my DVD of that show at least once every 3 years or so
Lizbot (host) 5:23:39 PM
@thomas hatch - Re: @JimmyCarter IsMy Hero's welcome - It's probably because i had a sub last week
thomas hatch 5:23:42 PM
Tom Waits is my favorite episode
Lizbot (host) 5:24:09 PM
@thomas hatch - That episode is great, and I think about that "Fishers of Men" song a lot, especially near rivers!
thomas hatch 5:24:15 PM
I see now
Number 6 5:24:16 PM
I'll be leaving in a few mins., so say it now and loud. :)
Lizbot (host) 5:24:58 PM
@thomas hatch - Apparently shooting that episode killed Lurie and Waits friendship for many years! A lot went wrong and allegedly Tom Waits blamed John for that.
Lizbot (host) 5:26:56 PM
@thomas hatch - This is like an old-school late 90s Prodigy . net bulletin board for forming bands now! @Number 6 is here if you have that synth friend's name!
thomas hatch 5:27:12 PM
Claw of Midnight is one of his projects I think you might like @#6
thomas hatch 5:27:55 PM
Oh there was a lot of tension there you could see
Number 6 5:30:36 PM
Okay, I'll look it up, thanks!
Lizbot (host) 5:31:50 PM
@thomas hatch - I loved Lurie & Waits together in Down By Law, but yeah, Waits was clearly not having a good time on that episode! The tension was palpable. That river adventure they went on also looked the least fun of all the Fishing with John excursions. Looked like it was swarming with mosquitos!
thomas hatch 5:32:09 PM
Great I’ll let him know thanks have fun
Number 6 5:33:24 PM

Hello Lizbot et al!
Lizbot (host) 5:33:52 PM
@JimmyCarter IsMy Hero - I really wish I could've come in last week and I was looking forward to my show, but my uncle died that morning. Other than my mom, he was the last blood relative left in that generation of my family.
Lizbot (host) 5:34:14 PM

addie “5 snakes” plum 🐍 5:34:49 PM

Aloooo BOT 🤖
Lizbot (host) 5:38:56 PM
@addie “5 snakes” plum 🐍 - Yr longer commute = more time for listening to WPRB! I'd also hit up some longer audiobooks on the longer drives. I liked Barkskins by Annie Proulx, that was friggin long but enjoyable historical fiction about north amercian/canadian logging and its longterm effects
Lizbot (host) 5:39:05 PM
Hi jimbooooo!
Lizbot (host) 5:40:50 PM
@jimbooooo - How's Western Massachusetts autumn coming along?
Richard of Rocky Hill 5:42:32 PM
@ Lizbot (host) Frances Chang's "No avatar" is a sterling example of WPRB playing our favorite music that we didn't know we liked. ;-D
addie “5 snakes” plum 🐍 5:43:05 PM
@Lizbot too true about more WPRB listening time! I have loved Annie P before, will see about some audio books!
Lizbot (host) 5:43:14 PM
Hi Richard of Rocky Hill!
Lizbot (host) 5:43:43 PM
@Richard of Rocky Hill - Glad you liked it! Yeah, I'm really digging that whole new album of hers.
Lizbot (host) 5:46:47 PM
@addie “5 snakes” plum 🐍 - I love The Shipping News, and tried one of her nonfiction books, Bird Cloud, (i admit I was influenced by the title,) but couldn't get into that one. It was about her travails trying to build a house. Then during the pandemic I took on longer books and Barkskins was one of the more memorable ones
addie “5 snakes” plum 🐍 5:48:23 PM
I loooooved Shipping News! I have Accordion Crimes on the TBR pile at the moment.
JimmyCarter IsMy Hero 5:48:24 PM
Sorry to WB and run, you are on from 2-5 in my time zone so I'm working and get called away over and over. My parents gen is thinning out fast too. At least we get to hang with our family at the services.
Lizbot (host) 5:49:15 PM
@addie “5 snakes” plum 🐍 - I also learned there were myriad ways to die whilst logging in the 19th century, not limited to getting crushed by a tree!
Lizbot (host) 5:49:45 PM
@addie “5 snakes” plum 🐍 - haha, I have Accordion Crimes in the pile too! I just reminded myself to start that one this fall or winter!
addie “5 snakes” plum 🐍 5:49:49 PM

Lizbot (host) 5:51:23 PM
@addie “5 snakes” plum 🐍 - Flying off the slippery contraptions by which they send logs down the river, logging co territory disputes, and more! I will just sprinkle that intrigue but no spoilers!
Lizbot (host) 5:51:30 PM
Hi Sean Burns!
Lizbot (host) 5:52:11 PM
@JimmyCarter IsMy Hero - Glad you could stop by!
sean burns 5:52:22 PM
Lizbotnkilling it we're heading into a strange and barely explored cosmic space
Lizbot (host) 5:54:13 PM
@sean burns - Thanks! I think transitional seasons affect my mind in interesting ways, and make me sleepy to boot, and give me more weird dreams, and all of that goes into the shows!
JimmyCarter IsMy Hero 5:54:15 PM
yeah, this set is amazing!!!!
Lizbot (host) 5:54:44 PM
@JimmyCarter IsMy Hero - Thanks!

George Korein 6:13:41 PM
Tom, are you saying you saw Mary Halvorson at Solar Myth?
Lizbot (host) 6:14:51 PM
@George Korein - I think that was last fall
Lizbot (host) 6:16:29 PM
@George Korein / @thomas hatch - And the reason I remember when that Mary Halvorson show was is because I try to see her whenever she's in Philly, but we took our teen daughter to NYC that weekend to see Chappell Roan!
George Korein 6:16:43 PM
I saw her in a living room gallery in fishtown with an upright bass player playing this album: https://stephancrumpintakt.bandcamp.com/album/super-eight

@George Korein Yes indeed I saw her and a great vibes player named Patricia Brennan
George Korein 6:19:18 PM

Lizbot (host) 6:20:55 PM

Lizbot (host) 6:21:12 PM

@thomas hatch - Sad to miss that Solar Myth show, but at least I caught Mary Halvorson perform in Trevor Dunn's trio-convulsant at Roulette in Brooklyn as part of Bang On a Can's Longplay Festival last May. I loved that fest. Would love to get to Big Ears some time too!
Lizbot (host) 6:34:47 PM

Hi Lizbot!
Lizbot (host) 6:36:08 PM
@Kelly Nielsen - Never enough Cure! Well especially certain songs that don't get mainstream airplay! I was really impressed how great they still sound during their last tour. Great show and they played for a long time!
thomas hatch 6:36:29 PM
@George Korein Gonna be fun I’ll be sure to try and come see you since you were prepared with details and all

@thomas hatch - They think it's ham, but it's not ham cuz it's pork roll, so says Trenton, from whence it comes and where it's still made, so they get the say-so. As we all know, Trenton Makes, the World Takes...pork roll
thomas hatch 6:55:14 PM
@LB so true
Lizbot (host) 6:58:42 PM
@thomas hatch - Speaking of Tom Waits from earlier, I'll be playing something of his in probably the next set
thomas hatch 6:58:58 PM
@LB alright I admit it I lived in Morris county during high school must have been where I picked that up
thomas hatch 7:00:01 PM
@LB can’t wait wonder which era.. don’t tell me it’ll be a surprise
Lizbot (host) 7:00:39 PM
@thomas hatch - Traitor! I throw a disco fry at you!
Lizbot (host) 7:01:52 PM
@thomas hatch - I like many parts of North Jersey, but when I was growing up, it was a vast hinterland to me and the Taylor Ham division line was rarely crossed except when going up to NYC
jimbooooo 7:02:00 PM
Yoyoyoshida💥💥💥
Lizbot (host) 7:02:30 PM
@jimbooooo - I managed to see him three times on that Ruins Alone tour!
jimbooooo 7:03:03 PM
Wow! Only saw Ruins once
thomas hatch 7:03:55 PM
Robyn Hitchcock! LB you’re the best
Lizbot (host) 7:04:19 PM
@jimbooooo - The tour before that he had a different guest bassist from each city he played accompany him, and both Philly bassist (Evan Lipson, no longer in Philly) and the NYC bassist (Jesse Krakow) for that Ruins tour are friends and former bandmembers of George's band
Lizbot (host) 7:04:49 PM
@thomas hatch - I sadly had to miss Robyn H's most recent tour! He always comes to Philly when I'm out of town!
Lizbot (host) 7:05:50 PM
@jimbooooo - I me some spastic energized prog written by a drummer, so Ruins is ideal!
thomas hatch 7:05:59 PM
I hung out with him in Baja Mexico with Peter Buck too!
thomas hatch 7:11:51 PM
Sounds pretty random but they are great friends and do a lot of music together
Lizbot (host) 7:14:14 PM
@thomas hatch - oh what? Robyn?!
Lizbot (host) 7:14:39 PM
@thomas hatch - I know he's played with Peter Buck a buncha times, seen some videos of them together
thomas hatch 7:15:49 PM
Oh yeah LB it was like a two week residency of shows and after parties at the Bucksters house
thomas hatch 7:16:22 PM
REMs bass player too Mike Mills? He was a really nice guy
Lizbot (host) 7:16:38 PM
@thomas hatch - What was the context?! He probably thought i was crazy when I handed him my drawing of a cake I thought he'd find funny, given he has a good number of songs about food! It was a cake they used to sell in NYC Chinatown near where the Chinatown buses from Philly let off passengers in the 2000s and it was a cake labeled "cake" in its own icing. I had to draw it and give it to him!
thomas hatch 7:18:30 PM
I’m sure he appreciated the gesture. Wild times in Baja m’lady wild times
Lizbot (host) 7:18:33 PM
@thomas hatch - Sounds like a blast!
Ossy 7:19:41 PM
loving this sound!
Lizbot (host) 7:20:05 PM
@Ossy - I figured you might! Very chip-tuney!
thomas hatch 7:20:10 PM
@LB it was definitely post REM but can’t remember the exact year. Brain doesn’t work like it used to
thomas hatch 7:22:27 PM
Dinner is ready! Look at me multitasking!
Lizbot (host) 7:23:11 PM
@thomas hatch - Have you been going to those Michael Shannon on vocals, Jason Narducy guitar, and John Wurster on drums R.E.M. cover shows where they have been doing through all the albums one by one each tour? I've caught a few of them at this point. I am generally not a big cover band person, but these are fun and the next best thing to REM since we're not seeing them live again...probably!
Lizbot (host) 7:23:37 PM
@thomas hatch - Dinner with Tom Waits for no one!
thomas hatch 7:24:07 PM
So gooood
Lizbot (host) 7:24:13 PM
@thomas hatch - The Shannon/Narducy/Wurster R.E.M. is coming back to Union Transfer in Philly to cover t
Ossy 7:24:18 PM
liz - oh yeah, like nerdy dj tis from her mostly video gaming show ' it is what it is!"..ooo i recall sparks few years back!
Lizbot (host) 7:24:30 PM
...the album Document in February.
thomas hatch 7:25:05 PM
My band at porchfest with most likely be playing Tom Waits Clap Hands
Lizbot (host) 7:25:39 PM
@Ossy - Oh yes, I have subbed for Tis and Tis has subbed for me! I called my Tis subbing show It's Not Tis, It's Liz or something along those lines! Our shows were back to back one season
George Korein 7:25:54 PM
That guitar solo is wild. Marc Rinot
thomas hatch 7:25:58 PM
I LOVE Document
George Korein 7:26:02 PM
I mean Ribot
George Korein 7:26:13 PM
I love Clap Hands!
thomas hatch 7:27:23 PM
Robot can’t not be wierd
Dale Hazelton 7:27:43 PM
evening.....been lurking.
Lizbot (host) 7:27:44 PM
@thomas hatch - Nice! Good song to cover! I like covers, (as you can tell if you listen to this show often!). I'm just not into the whole "we only play one band's music" type bands, like Led Zep cover bands etc, with SOME exceptions, like the Musical Box genesis covers are a whole experience, or this R.E.M. Michael Shannon endeavor
thomas hatch 7:27:45 PM
Ribot darn autocorrect!
Lizbot (host) 7:28:09 PM
@George Korein - Ah! Noted! Love Marc Ribot!
Lizbot (host) 7:28:17 PM
Hi Dale Hazelton!
thomas hatch 7:29:16 PM
70/30 cover original ratio is good
thomas hatch 7:29:41 PM
70 original 30 cover
Lizbot (host) 7:29:47 PM
@thomas hatch - general sale for that REM Document show is tomorrow I believe. They've played Ardmore Music Hall and Union Transfer. It generally sells out or gets close to it. People clearly miss R.E.M.! A lot of dancing happens at those shows, good vibe and Michael Shannon, maybe because he's a good actor, really nails Michael Stipes on-stage demeanor!
Lizbot (host) 7:30:21 PM
@thomas hatch - Yeah I think that's good ratio
thomas hatch 7:30:41 PM
See you there hopefully
Lizbot (host) 7:31:11 PM
@thomas hatch - Marc Ribot or Bark Ribbett, a dog and frog act set to the guitar stylings of Marc Ribot
Lizbot (host) 7:31:37 PM
@thomas hatch - Yeah and I'll be at PorchFest for sure unless we get another Nor'easter!
thomas hatch 7:31:51 PM
Is that real or made up?
thomas hatch 7:32:52 PM
Sorry LOL funny stuff LB
Lizbot (host) 7:33:28 PM
@thomas hatch - If we will it, it can be real...at least in my trippy autumnal dreams of late!
thomas hatch 7:34:04 PM
Follow the scent of Taylor PORK ROLL and you should find me
thomas hatch 7:34:37 PM
I’ve been having mad dreams lately too
Lizbot (host) 7:36:08 PM
@thomas hatch - ha! Yeah, maybe the station should had a scratch-and-sniff panel to the pork roll shirt!
Lizbot (host) 7:37:57 PM
@thomas hatch - I dreamt I was talking to a paper cutout cartoon character last night with a name like Calamity or somehting. Yeah, seasonal change does weird stuff to my dreams!
thomas hatch 7:39:32 PM
I woke up with instructions from the Galactic Elders and was so freaked out I couldn’t go back to sleep
Lizbot (host) 7:40:03 PM
@thomas hatch - Ack!
Ossy 7:40:50 PM
liz for earlier - oh so nice, like this one playing right now!
Lizbot (host) 7:41:57 PM
@Ossy - Glad you're digging it!
thomas hatch 7:42:57 PM
@LB all I could think of was who am I supposed to give the instructions to? Donald Trump?
Lizbot (host) 7:45:04 PM
@thomas hatch - that would probably backfire!
thomas hatch 7:46:56 PM
@LB I know who would he call into the oval office? Pete Hegseth? Kid Rock?
Lizbot (host) 7:47:56 PM
@thomas hatch - Oh god, one can only imagine!
thomas hatch 7:52:43 PM
Smooth and bulbous! Captain Beefheart next show LB?
George Korein 7:54:07 PM
In Albatros hung from the rafters
Lizbot (host) 7:54:31 PM
@thomas hatch - Beefheart is never a bad idea! My last car was a bit bulbous and silver so I named it Shiny Beast (Bat-Chain Puller)
Lizbot (host) 7:54:54 PM
@George Korein - An Albatross. Thank you, I knew that but could not call up their name in my head at that moment!
Lizbot (host) 7:55:42 PM
@George Korein - and the 13 Hedgehogs album tour was Melt Banana, who we also saw at the old iriginal Vox Populi location, but I ALSO could not call up Melt-Banana right then!
Ossy 7:55:45 PM
awesome ambient and mellow smells tonight, tara liz!
Lizbot (host) 7:55:55 PM
Thanks Ossy!
thomas hatch 7:57:11 PM
Had a blast in the chat thanks folks!
Lizbot (host) 7:58:19 PM
Thanks for hanging out, Thomas!
