Hello!!
TAndy 9:09:01 AM
Good morning! Fancy hearing you on today, excellent :)
Stitching Pink (host) 9:09:30 AM
Glad you are here!
dan Cochrane 9:10:06 AM
Good morning SP, all other listeners, stitchers. Crochet hanging speaker stands have gone the way of the back to school satchel, with locking (adjustable) clasp.
Stitching Pink (host) 9:11:16 AM
nice!
Stitching Pink (host) 9:11:33 AM
Those hanging speaker stands sound amazing btw
dan Cochrane 9:12:28 AM
Late ‘80’s
dan Cochrane 9:15:07 AM
Ideal steamy Sunday morning selections…
Stitching Pink (host) 9:15:28 AM

dan Cochrane 9:19:59 AM
🎼🎷🪡🧵🧶
dan Cochrane 9:21:25 AM
I forgot what macrame is. Decoupage I know.
Stitching Pink (host) 9:21:42 AM
Kind of like crochet.
Stitching Pink (host) 9:21:56 AM
basically tying knots into shapes
dan Cochrane 9:23:50 AM
🪢 got it!
dan Cochrane 9:25:40 AM
I wonder how tie dye is done these days?we actually did batik with bees wax in HS art class, early ‘70’s.
Stitching Pink (host) 9:26:39 AM
good question! The last time I did it with my daughter we just used rubberbands and knots. it looked like a clown massacre on my driveway!
dan Cochrane 9:27:25 AM
Funny scene!
dan Cochrane 9:28:06 AM
What a voice, my goodness!
TAndy 9:28:11 AM
In 10th grade we just used rubber bands too, I kept that shirt till a few years after I graduated. Looked pretty gnarly after a point 😄
dan Cochrane 9:30:13 AM
HS art class these days is copying Tim Burton film characters, or possibly doing a self-portrait based on one.
dan Cochrane 9:34:06 AM
I actually noticed leaves beginning to fall yesterday morning. Weaving is incredible! In art school I was weaving cassette tape, and VHS tape on hand loom. Ann Wilson professor loved it!
dan Cochrane 9:35:31 AM
Yes! Plants with labels, “Propagation Prohibited!”
Tyler B. 9:36:30 AM
Good morning y'all
dan Cochrane 9:36:37 AM
Dust magnets unfortunately
dan Cochrane 9:37:59 AM
Collage, my #1! Mail Art!
dan Cochrane 9:39:31 AM
I love to modify Hallmark greeting cards, obliterating the original, pop ups, etc.
Stitching Pink (host) 9:41:02 AM
Embroidery on cards and photographs is also popular these days! I went to a workshop at Princeton Museum to learn how.
dan Cochrane 9:42:30 AM
I’m sure you’ve seen Warhol’s stitched (machine) together b& w photos, threads hanging from them. Totally cool!
dan Cochrane 9:43:33 AM
Ann Wilson hand-stitches human hair in white fabric, they resemble pen and ink drawings.
dan Cochrane 9:44:12 AM
Abstract designs
Stitching Pink (host) 9:44:19 AM
I need to check those out. As a Warhol fan I am embarrassed to admit that I have not seen those!
Beth O'Brien 9:46:30 AM
What a wonderful surprise! Good Morning!
Stitching Pink (host) 9:46:42 AM
Hello Beth!
dan Cochrane 9:48:11 AM
Years ago Studio Sew Sew made handl made clothes, mostly for rock, jazz musicians. Incredible creations!
dan Cochrane 9:48:44 AM
In Chicago
dan Cochrane 9:50:01 AM
I’m working on one of a kind guitar straps. Like golf shoes, the “uglier” the better, if you know what I mean.
Stitching Pink (host) 9:50:29 AM
love it
dan Cochrane 9:51:27 AM
Vogue Fabrics in Chicago has crazy selection of vinyl.
Stitching Pink (host) 9:52:31 AM
omg. i love sewing with vinyl. just got a 15 yard roll of clear vinyl the other day
dan Cochrane 9:53:05 AM
Thrift store neckties another great source
Stitching Pink (host) 9:53:28 AM
agree
dan Cochrane 9:53:34 AM
Great for clear guitar straps!
Stitching Pink (host) 9:54:11 AM
I think my vinyl is 16 gauge? if it is too thin it will wrinkle and crack
dan Cochrane 9:54:41 AM
When thrift store has dollar a bag day, I fill it with ties
dan Cochrane 9:55:34 AM
I use those fabric backed vinyls, used to be oil cloth
Stitching Pink (host) 9:55:46 AM
ah. also love that
dan Cochrane 9:57:52 AM
I look at sewing machines all the time, but hard to choose. Industrial, commercial best?
dan Cochrane 10:05:37 AM
Old school camo vinyl I love. Not that leafy type so popular now
Stitching Pink (host) 10:05:59 AM
if you are going through a lot of layers, look for a vintage Bernina.
Stitching Pink (host) 10:06:12 AM
mechanical machine.
dan Cochrane 10:07:14 AM
I sub teach HS and I have not seen a clear backpack. But it gives me an idea for wall hanging art. Contraband contents series!
Stitching Pink (host) 10:07:36 AM
nice
dan Cochrane 10:09:05 AM
Thank you for idea
Stitching Pink (host) 10:10:49 AM
my pleasure
dan Cochrane 10:11:43 AM
I do Hallmark Christmas advent calendars, one with silhouettes of automatic weapons in the daily windows.
dan Cochrane 10:12:41 AM
Banned weapons “Here Comes FUN!”
dan Cochrane 10:13:45 AM
Never will own one
Amy Lee 10:18:01 AM
Hello Stitching Pink. Yes, I his is a nice surprise!
Stitching Pink (host) 10:20:24 AM
Hello Amy!
Amy Lee 10:24:25 AM
Damn. Typing w/o readers. This.
dan Cochrane 10:31:31 AM
Dope crafts love it!
dan Cochrane 10:32:37 AM
I discovered Croc colors marked way down, no one buys them. Shitaki
Stitching Pink (host) 10:32:43 AM
I am now officially the crazy aunt with insane amounts of craft supplies
dan Cochrane 10:33:12 AM
Which is flesh Crayola basically
dan Cochrane 10:33:57 AM
I guess I’m (proud) crazy uncle then. Good to know
dan Cochrane 10:34:38 AM
As always… pickers to hoarders with caution
Stitching Pink (host) 10:34:45 AM
hahaha
dan Cochrane 10:36:03 AM
Paper is my particular passion. Career in restoring art on paper, photographs.
dan Cochrane 10:36:22 AM
Originals only
dan Cochrane 10:37:26 AM
So…did home ec. class evolve into crafts?
Stitching Pink (host) 10:38:57 AM
Home ec was cancelled but it is coming back! And they are sewing again!
dan Cochrane 10:39:01 AM
Wow, this is so cool, almost subversive
Stitching Pink (host) 10:39:41 AM
hope it's a reaction to fast fashion
dan Cochrane 10:40:43 AM
You should see, “Buddy” movie. You will find inspiration in the color pallet, and more
dan Cochrane 10:41:36 AM
It’s quite funny too
dan Cochrane 10:42:57 AM
“Strappy” is a talking back pack. No spoiler
dan Cochrane 10:47:22 AM
If you haven’t seen Freitag shoulder bags, take a look. Re purposed vinyl coverings, seat belts. Vinyl from semi trailer covers. Incredible and $$$ unfortunately
Stitching Pink (host) 10:49:07 AM
those are cool!
dan Cochrane 10:50:44 AM
Great cover!
Stitching Pink (host) 10:51:34 AM
a personal fave
dan Cochrane 10:52:12 AM
I discovered them in a great doc. “Helvetica” on the type face. By the “Objectified” film makers. Also great.
Stitching Pink (host) 10:52:37 AM
omg that sounds awesome
dan Cochrane 10:53:10 AM
My library system had both films
dan Cochrane 10:54:31 AM
Did you ever do paint by numbers paintings or colored pencils?
Stitching Pink (host) 10:55:53 AM
absolutely. some feel that needlepoint is similar but with canvas and thread
dan Cochrane 10:57:36 AM
Look at Don Baum’s art. Chicago artist I knew. He made houses out of found thrift store PBN paintings. Old cutting boards for base.
dan Cochrane 10:58:24 AM
I tried diamond point for about 20 minutes. Forget that
dan Cochrane 11:02:36 AM
“So…er, always look for, the union label”
dan Cochrane 11:07:18 AM
Refreshing philosophy these days, for sure
Stitching Pink (host) 11:08:08 AM
diamond art is not for me but I can appreciate why some people love it.
Stitching Pink (host) 11:08:27 AM
I need my crafts to be somewhat portable.
dan Cochrane 11:09:18 AM
Thrift stores…full of framed finished jigsaw puzzles, and finished framed diamond point.
dan Cochrane 11:09:54 AM
Already, seems soon, after start of craft
dan Cochrane 11:10:29 AM
I would need a Opti Visor
Stitching Pink (host) 11:11:25 AM
At night I do needlepoint with magnifying glasses
dan Cochrane 11:14:23 AM
Off the blue screens, can’t beat that
Stitching Pink (host) 11:14:38 AM
100%
dan Cochrane 11:17:48 AM
Did you mean manual machine, when you said “mechanical”?
Stitching Pink (host) 11:18:14 AM
A machine that is not computerized
dan Cochrane 11:19:04 AM
Ahhh, got it! Of course. I’ll look on craigslist
Stitching Pink (host) 11:19:31 AM
you want it to be electric but probably pretty basic.
dan Cochrane 11:20:24 AM
I need a pattern for neckties too
Stitching Pink (host) 11:20:36 AM
like a bernina 830
dan Cochrane 11:21:05 AM
Cool!
dan Cochrane 11:23:29 AM
Heading to breakfast, many thanks for tunes, chat, tips this am! 🪡☕️🪡☕️🪡☕️

Beth O'Brien 11:30:42 AM
Wonderful music this morning! Thanks for getting our Sunday off to a great start.
Stitching Pink (host) 11:36:52 AM
Have a wonderful holiday weekend
Larry Tenders 11:44:11 AM
Really going to miss your regular shows during the fall season, but you've given a lot of joy to stretch out across the gaps between Stitchin it Good. Thanks a ton!
Stitching Pink (host) 11:45:01 AM
thank you Larry for such a kind message!
Amy Lee 11:49:06 AM
Husband is a union carpenter. On occasion has done work at Campbells. Prior to work being done in the board room, he was told they had just put away an original Warhol soup can painting for safekeeping.
Stitching Pink (host) 11:50:05 AM
amazing
Stitching Pink (host) 11:50:58 AM
I saw them for the first time when i was about 10. There was a display in OKC. I fell instantly in love. In fact, our wedding was at the Warhol Museum
Stitching Pink (host) 11:51:42 AM
There is nothing more iconic than a Campbell's soup can
Amy Lee 11:53:55 AM
No real point to that story. My husbands not a Warhol fan, so can't get much out of him when he mentions, 'they have a few of the can paintings(?)'. Like, which ones? Which are original? Lithos? I need to show him Warhols cats - maybe he'll change his mind on him
Stitching Pink (host) 11:54:32 AM
hahaha
Amy Lee 11:54:58 AM
That is pretty cool. Thats a good reason for a wedding!
Stitching Pink (host) 11:58:16 AM
have a great weekend
TAndy 11:59:09 AM
Thank you so much Stitching for the show today, and for the whole season! I'm really looking forward to all of the wonderful shows tomorrow, enjoy the rest of the weekend 😁
