That's nice of you to say. Definite ups and downs but mostly ups. She has been sending me a list of the movies she watches in class and I'm trying to keep pace. Last week, Sunset Boulevard (maybe had not actually seen prior). This week, Y Tu Mama Tambien.

I thought I had seen it but I only knew the two famous lines (one of which I actually got wrong in my mind). Was super.

She loved it.

Maggie has good taste. The first time I saw Sunset Blvd. on TV as a kid it blew my mind. That final scene - just the best.

Every shot is so well lit.

the photography is insane. That pool shot at the beginning is amazing.

On the DVD they had script (and a revised script) for an alternate opening that would have taken place in a morgue where all the dead bodies are talking to each other. Think cutting it was the right choice but it was also pretty funny on a quick read-through.

The first glimpse of the beach in Y Tu Mama was astounding

It has been so many years since I saw Y Tu Mama I remember almost nothing, which is ultimately good for this second viewing.

Ha that is exactly what I was thinking - I don't think I saw Y Tu since it came out.

No idea why both of these films are the films that were picked but better than her film class in high school that began with American Beauty.

I do remember liking it. My memory for some things is not what it was.

The letters "fr-rem" commonly abbreviate "final recall removal" or "firm-initiated recall remedy" within logistics databases.

I'm guessing those are dates.

Jackie Chan's Police Story from 1985 has some of the most insane sickest live practical stunts I've ever seen. Very action-y action!

More Yakuza. Stylistically, had a great 60's vibe but it was modern.

I did not hear the Dolly tribute but I have been hearing alot of Dolly everywhere. There's just not many people on planet earth that generally everyone can agree is a good person. We were once in Dollywood around Xmas time years ago, and of course there's music playing all throughout the park. But every once in a while the music would cut out and Dolly's voice would come on, all through the park, just to tell everyone that she loved them.

When I was recently nearly not allowed in Canada, the promoter said this was the first time in 16 years this happened to a band trying to cross the border.

I do that all the time, I’m a yank but my childhood benefitted from Canada’s education and healthcare systems.

@Jon it happened to my friend many years ago on tour...she ended up getting off the bus so the band could go on...

They claimed it was a paperwork issue with the itemized list of merch we were bringing but they never popped the back of the van to inspect.

We even dropped the majority of the overflow merch at a hotel in Bellingham prior so everything listed was what we possessed. Had to wait for 45-50 minutes while one of us was run ragged. Then he came out said "don't say a word, get in the van now" and we were off to Vancouver.

The Bellingham motel was aces. Went right back there post-Vancouver. Zero issues crossing back into our United States.
