"Bombay" Jayashri Ramnath was born in Kolkata in 1964 or 1965. She is a Carnatic vocalist, singer and musician, trained by Lalgudi Jayaraman and T. R. Balamani. She has also received training in Hindustani music from K. Mahavir Jaipurwale and Ajay Pohankar. Plus she studied bharatanatyam dance and learned to play the veena.

The Hyderabad Brothers are D. Raghavachari and D. Seshachari. They got their initial formal training from their father Daroor Ratnamacharyulu. Their mother Daroor Sulochana Devi was also a Carnatic classical musician.

Dhruba Ghosh (1957 - 2017) was a sarangi player from Mumbai. His father is tabla maestro Nikhil Ghosh. He is the nephew of flute maestro Pannalal Ghosh.

Uppalapu Srinivas (1969 – 2014) pioneered the mandolin in Carnatic classical music. Because he was a child prodigy, he was sometimes called the Mozart of classical Indian music. He modified the electric western instrument, using five single strings instead of the traditional four doubled strings to suit the Carnatic playing style (sustained notes and musical ornamentation).

Malini Rajurkar (1941-2023) represented the Gwalior gharana. She had been teaching high school mathematics in Ajmer, Rajasthan. She received a scholarship to study music at Ajmer Music College, where she learnt from Govindrao Rajurkar, and his nephew Vasantrao Rajurkar, who became her husband.

Maharajapuram Santhanam (1928-1992) followed in his father's footsteps. Besides studying with his father, he was also a disciple of Melattur Sama Dikshitar. He and several other family members died in an automobile collision in Kooteripattu in 1992. His sons and his primary disciple Dr. R. Ganesh are now carrying on his musical tradition.

"The Violin Trio" was a short-lived trio comprised of brothers L. Vaidyanathan (1942-2007), L. Subramaniam (b. 1947), L. Shankar (b. 1950). Active during the early years of their recording careers, they released two records in the mid 1970s. They are sons of V. Lakshminarayana (1911-1990), and nephews of Ramnad Krishnan and Ramnad Raghavan.

Vilayat Khan (1928-2004) was born in Gouripur, Mymensingh, East Bengal (now Bangladesh). Son of Enayat Khan, he represents the Imdadkhani gharana of instrumental music. Vilayat Khan is credited with developing the "gayaki ang", a style that emulates the melismatic style of Hindustani vocal music, and is considered one of the greatest sitarists of his generation.

Vilayat Khan was recording on 78 rpm discs at least as far back as 1945. This recording comes from his 2nd LP issued in 1961, with Mohammad Ahmad on tabla.

Madras Lalitangi Vasanthakumari (popularly referred to as MLV) (1928 – 1990), was a contemporary of D.K. Pattammal and M.S. Subbulakshmi, and was a prime disciple of G.N. Balasubramaniam.

Ranjani and Gayatri are sisters who were born into a musical family in 1973 and 1976 respectively. They started their training on violin, but have been singing together since 1997. They have been students of P.S. Narayanswamy.
