This playlist was very much conceived of during the storm in Philly, so I feel like there's a rainy day element to it

At least I did not have to leave my kid as a security depisit. It's getting crazy.

I was in Jersey last week. Ate some hogies, Burnett BBQ, K&Z pickles, drank tequila, went to wedding, saw old friends, and brought 4 hogies back to OR. I missed General Tso's chicken and Pizza/Wings, perhaps next time. Had a fun visit.

@Rofflelectic - I did not go so far as to buy a coffee. I am too sensitive to that much caffeine. I did supply myself with black tea

Good hoagies in OR are made by east coast natives I have found. But the NW has the best coffees/esspresso going.

@Rofflelectic - I love the taste of black tea, but have never been a fan of the taste of green tea, though I used to drink it on days I had to get up particularly early because I thought it gave me more energy. Then I realized it just made me kinda loopy and unfocused!

I just love Burnett BBQ, the Portuguese BBQ has been an inspiration for much of my meat cooking. We stopped by while going from cherry hill to easton, since it was on the way......

I am rather susceptible to vague suggestions. :)

@Rofflelectic - We had big Pacific Northwest trip when I was in high school in the early 90s - went to Portland, Seattle, Victoria, Vancouver, and several islands including Bainbridge and Orcas. My mom was utterly THRILLED to find good coffee on the Washington Ferry System. That coffee was the as-yet-unheard-of-on-the-East-Coast Starbucks, which these days is basically considered garbage coffee by her and many others. I assume the quality went down considerably when it expanded so rapidly!

Starbucks took off on the backs of those local coffee joints. They saw how popular they were.

I lived on Bainbridge for a while. I loved taking the ferry to Seattle at sunset. Priceless!

@Rofflelectic - I loved the WA ferry system on that trip - Also saw quite a few pods of orcas on those ferry rides. I've heard their numbers have dwindled since then, unfortunately. No wonder they're angrily flipping pleasure crafts!

Started drinking coffee again a few weeks ago. Def works better than tea w/my system for 'pep' - I've done more in past few weeks than past few months. I've learned to use less ground than I 'feel' a 20oz mug should have . Which may explain why I've had to take breaks from coffee in the past.

@Rofflelectic - The ferries were great...until I had to ride them with the flu. Miserable experience! Got sick halfway through that trip after having missed the last ferry of the night on one of the islands, I think Orcas, and having to sleep at a place that really amounted to a sort of hippie commune with a communal dorm-room/youth-hostel style sleeping area and the woman in front of me coughed at me all night long!

@Amy Lee - I really love the taste of coffee, but I already have too much insomnia, and when I have coffee, even very early in the morning, I just don't sleep that night at all, or very little. Also just one cup makes me too jittery and gives me that racing heart feeling

I don't sleep well at night (never have) but I can understand. I only recently learned sleeping well at night was normal for most people.

@Amy Lee - Yeah, my mom was such an insomniac, and meanwhile all the men in my family could fall asleep at the drop of a hat. I think brain wiring is different when it comes to being able to fully relax and sleep deeply in the women in my family. We're wired to be on-watch, alert, worrying about the next day and all kinds of things, at least that's my experience! Not talking general anxiety, just the ability to turn off that "family/life manager mode" that makes it hard to just go blank & sleep!

@Amy Lee - But I found over the years that falling asleep on a sofa and then moving to the bed some time in the night for some reason works better for me. It's like going to the bed at the beginning of the night puts too much pressure on my brain to go to sleep and a different location removes that expectation!
