Hello Hello!
Lizbot (host) 4:59:17 PM
We'll be hearing a couple of songs from Dolly Parton and Tim Curry today amongst the usual Doubleplusgood fare!
Number 6 5:00:58 PM
Greetings!
Lizbot (host) 5:01:53 PM
Hi Number 6!
Number 6 5:04:00 PM
I was able to buy one of those new toy robots on Amazon, with a key. When I wind it up it kind of slowly lumbers along.
Rofflelectic 5:04:03 PM
Hi! Rain in the summer. I do sorta like it.
Rofflelectic 5:05:01 PM
I need one of those keys for myself today #6! :)
Lizbot (host) 5:05:55 PM
Hi Rofflelectic!
Lizbot (host) 5:06:40 PM
@Rofflelectic - Summer rain is nice and lulling, and I like the smell of it! I just don't like driving in the summer storms!
Lizbot (host) 5:07:28 PM
@Number 6 - Ah nice! Yeah, like Rofflelectic, I could use a wind-up key today. I'm revived now, but it took me a bit longer to wake up this morning!
Rofflelectic 5:07:34 PM
Yes, it's for walking in the warm rain. Driving is not that.
Rofflelectic 5:08:23 PM
I bought coffee today, WTF?
Lizbot (host) 5:08:50 PM
This playlist was very much conceived of during the storm in Philly, so I feel like there's a rainy day element to it
Rofflelectic 5:09:11 PM
At least I did not have to leave my kid as a security depisit. It's getting crazy.
JimmyCarter IsMy Hero 5:09:33 PM
I was in Jersey last week. Ate some hogies, Burnett BBQ, K&Z pickles, drank tequila, went to wedding, saw old friends, and brought 4 hogies back to OR. I missed General Tso's chicken and Pizza/Wings, perhaps next time. Had a fun visit.
Lizbot (host) 5:09:39 PM
@Rofflelectic - I did not go so far as to buy a coffee. I am too sensitive to that much caffeine. I did supply myself with black tea
Lizbot (host) 5:09:49 PM
Hi JimmyCarter IsMy Hero!
Lizbot (host) 5:10:33 PM
@JimmyCarter IsMy Hero - SOunds like a nice visit! How'd those hoagies hold up in travel?
JimmyCarter IsMy Hero 5:10:35 PM
Hi L:izbot
Number 6 5:10:53 PM
@Rofflelectic- Ha!
JimmyCarter IsMy Hero 5:11:00 PM
They did good, had them in with some frozen porkroll.
Rofflelectic 5:11:03 PM
I hear ya Lizbot. They were out of my usual green tea.
Lizbot (host) 5:11:23 PM
@Rofflelectic - In my case, my kid is the one racking up the weekly coffee bill!
Rofflelectic 5:11:47 PM
:)
Lizbot (host) 5:12:22 PM
@JimmyCarter IsMy Hero - Ah, nice strategic deployment of frozen pork roll!
Lizbot (host) 5:12:52 PM
@JimmyCarter IsMy Hero - I never see Burnett BBQ outside of North Jersey, is that where the festivities were?
Lizbot (host) 5:13:28 PM
RIP Dolly!
Rofflelectic 5:13:56 PM
Good hoagies in OR are made by east coast natives I have found. But the NW has the best coffees/esspresso going.
Rofflelectic 5:14:43 PM
Dolly is still up there laughing at the dummies. Not worried about her.
Lizbot (host) 5:14:47 PM
@Rofflelectic - Ah, I gotta have my tea black or herbal, but green tea makes me a bit loopy!
Rofflelectic 5:15:24 PM
Probably why I like green tea. :)
Lizbot (host) 5:16:09 PM
@Rofflelectic - My mom is a big fan of NW coffee. We visited her brother in the Inland Northwest earlier this summer, and my cousins, his sons, live in Seattle, so we've been a few times
Rob from Maryland 🦀 5:18:34 PM
Hello everyone
Lizbot (host) 5:18:34 PM
@Rofflelectic - I love the taste of black tea, but have never been a fan of the taste of green tea, though I used to drink it on days I had to get up particularly early because I thought it gave me more energy. Then I realized it just made me kinda loopy and unfocused!
Lizbot (host) 5:18:41 PM
Hi Rob from Maryland 🦀!
Rofflelectic 5:19:30 PM
@Lizbot, While I lived there, there was an esspresso stand on nearly every corner.
Rofflelectic 5:20:30 PM
By Jove, I do believe I shall have a coffee!
JimmyCarter IsMy Hero 5:20:57 PM
I just love Burnett BBQ, the Portuguese BBQ has been an inspiration for much of my meat cooking. We stopped by while going from cherry hill to easton, since it was on the way......
Rofflelectic 5:21:57 PM
I am rather susceptible to vague suggestions. :)
Lizbot (host) 5:22:30 PM
@Rofflelectic - We had big Pacific Northwest trip when I was in high school in the early 90s - went to Portland, Seattle, Victoria, Vancouver, and several islands including Bainbridge and Orcas. My mom was utterly THRILLED to find good coffee on the Washington Ferry System. That coffee was the as-yet-unheard-of-on-the-East-Coast Starbucks, which these days is basically considered garbage coffee by her and many others. I assume the quality went down considerably when it expanded so rapidly!
Rofflelectic 5:25:39 PM
Starbucks took off on the backs of those local coffee joints. They saw how popular they were.
Rofflelectic 5:26:37 PM
I lived on Bainbridge for a while. I loved taking the ferry to Seattle at sunset. Priceless!
Rofflelectic 5:27:23 PM
The city turns golden
Lizbot (host) 5:28:38 PM
@JimmyCarter IsMy Hero - Ah, my folks live near Cherry Hill! I can hang with some BBQ, just not buffalo sauce!
Lizbot (host) 5:30:08 PM
@Rofflelectic - I bet that ferry ride at sunset is magical.
Number 6 5:30:43 PM
Doors in the Labyrinth did an interesting tribute song to Dolly, only up until bandcamp Friday. https://doorsinthelabyrinth.bandcamp.com/track/jolene-of-ryleh
Number 6 5:31:11 PM

Lizbot (host) 5:31:28 PM
@Rofflelectic - I loved the WA ferry system on that trip - Also saw quite a few pods of orcas on those ferry rides. I've heard their numbers have dwindled since then, unfortunately. No wonder they're angrily flipping pleasure crafts!
Lizbot (host) 5:31:46 PM
@Number 6 - Oh interesting! I'll check it out!
Amy Lee 5:32:55 PM
Started drinking coffee again a few weeks ago. Def works better than tea w/my system for 'pep' - I've done more in past few weeks than past few months. I've learned to use less ground than I 'feel' a 20oz mug should have . Which may explain why I've had to take breaks from coffee in the past.
Lizbot (host) 5:34:45 PM
@Rofflelectic - The ferries were great...until I had to ride them with the flu. Miserable experience! Got sick halfway through that trip after having missed the last ferry of the night on one of the islands, I think Orcas, and having to sleep at a place that really amounted to a sort of hippie commune with a communal dorm-room/youth-hostel style sleeping area and the woman in front of me coughed at me all night long!
Lizbot (host) 5:34:51 PM
Hi Amy Lee!
Lizbot (host) 5:37:05 PM
@Amy Lee - I really love the taste of coffee, but I already have too much insomnia, and when I have coffee, even very early in the morning, I just don't sleep that night at all, or very little. Also just one cup makes me too jittery and gives me that racing heart feeling
Ossy 5:39:58 PM
hi liz
Lizbot (host) 5:40:12 PM
Hi Ossy!
Lizbot (host) 5:41:58 PM
@Ossy - How're you today? Yay or nay on this rainy day? I'm enjoying it, just not driving in it
Ossy 5:42:25 PM
another lost one , before dolly and timmy :(, hayden paninitierrehttps://www.google.com/search?q=dot+hayden+panettiere+kairi&sca_esv=f814840d80206240&rlz=1C1GCEU_enUS1229US1229&udm=2&biw=1920&bih=953&ei=h66QaoD4E-ShiLMP79qx6Qk&ved=0ahUKEwjA1-HY4sGWAxXkEGIAHW9tLJ0Q4dUDCBE&uact=5&oq=dot+hayden+panettiere+kairi&gs_lp=Egtnd3Mtd2l6LWltZyIbZG90IGhheWRlbiBwYW5ldHRpZXJlIGthaXJpSMZkULUUWIozcAF4AJABAJgB9QWgAcIJqgEJNS4wLjEuNi0xuAEDyAEA-AEBmAIDoALuD8ICBRAAGIAEwgIGEAAYCBgewgIEEAAYHpgDAIgGAZIHCTEuNS0xLjAuMaAH
Ossy 5:43:15 PM
enjoying the cool rainy weather as well the silver cloudy sky and so indoors on campus library!
Amy Lee 5:43:30 PM
I don't sleep well at night (never have) but I can understand. I only recently learned sleeping well at night was normal for most people.
Ossy 5:43:38 PM
liz - great also day to wear hunter wellies
Lizbot (host) 5:44:03 PM
@Ossy - Oh I read about Hayden Panettiere's sad end. Didn't know a lot about her, but she seemed to be in a tragic situation
Lizbot (host) 5:44:27 PM
@Ossy - A good day to bundle up indoors!
Ossy 5:45:52 PM
liz - me too, aside from being princess dot from a bug's life and princess kairi from kingdom hearts! Same instance with Daveigh Chase of Lilo and Stitch and Spirited Away legendary fame, that was too in a brutal situation
Lizbot (host) 5:47:13 PM
@Amy Lee - Yeah, my mom was such an insomniac, and meanwhile all the men in my family could fall asleep at the drop of a hat. I think brain wiring is different when it comes to being able to fully relax and sleep deeply in the women in my family. We're wired to be on-watch, alert, worrying about the next day and all kinds of things, at least that's my experience! Not talking general anxiety, just the ability to turn off that "family/life manager mode" that makes it hard to just go blank & sleep!
Ossy 5:48:01 PM
best of tim curry - https://www.google.com/search?q=nigel+thornberry&sca_esv=f814840d80206240&rlz=1C1GCEU_enUS1229US1229&udm=2&biw=1920&bih=953&ei=l66Qat-yKPit5NoP7qHS0AM&oq=nigel&gs_lp=Egtnd3Mtd2l6LWltZyIFbmlnZWwqAggAMgsQABiABBixAxiDATIOEAAYgAQYigUYsQMYgwEyDhAAGIAEGIoFGLEDGIMBMggQABiABBixAzIOEAAYgAQYigUYsQMYgwEyCxAAGIAEGLEDGIMBMgsQABiABBixAxiDATILEAAYgAQYsQMYgwEyCBAAGIAEGLEDMggQABiABBixA0icEVAAWP0IcAB4AJABAJgBNKABzAGqAQE1uAEDyAEA-AEBmAIFoAL8AcICBBAAGAPCAgUQABiABMICChAAGIAEGIoFGEPCAg0QABiABBiKBR
Lizbot (host) 5:48:42 PM
@Amy Lee - But I found over the years that falling asleep on a sofa and then moving to the bed some time in the night for some reason works better for me. It's like going to the bed at the beginning of the night puts too much pressure on my brain to go to sleep and a different location removes that expectation!
Lizbot (host) 5:49:30 PM
@Ossy - haha, nigel thornberry! RIP Tim Curry! DId you ever see that silly fun "Worst Witch" movie he was in with Fairuza Balk?
Lizbot (host) 5:50:15 PM
@Ossy - yeah, I know Hayden had done some voiceover work. Wasn't sure which characters/shows
Amy Lee 5:52:42 PM
Word Lizbot. I also need it pitch black & found that using an eye mask/covering helps.
Lizbot (host) 5:53:01 PM
@Amy Lee - Yes! Darkness = good!
Ossy 5:53:21 PM
liz - havent heard of worst witch, but however, i've seen a scooby doo witch movie, named 'the witch's ghost' where tim was this evil witchman, named ben ravencroft LOOOOL https://scoobydoo.fandom.com/wiki/Ben_Ravencroft
Rofflelectic 5:55:45 PM
@Lizbot, I would go out and try to catch the last ferry, and on that note, I have have wander around Pioneer Square more than once or twice waiting for the first ferry of the day. No regrets now, but it was what it was then :)
Lizbot (host) 5:55:50 PM
@Ossy - Tim Curry sings a VERY silly Halloween song in The WOrst Witch! You should check it out!
Ossy 5:58:44 PM
liz - totally will check it out and that silly song will fit SOOO well with his other witch character, Ben Ravencroft!!
Rofflelectic 6:04:58 PM
Hmmm... Dolly lived trough the best of what America had to offer, and got the fuck out. Her spirit has never missed a beat!
Rofflelectic 6:05:57 PM
Through, thru, ya know...
Ossy 6:07:17 PM
true tru
Lizbot (host) 6:07:45 PM
@Ossy - Oh I see Ben Ravencroft is from a more recent version Scooby Doo. I wasn't familiar, but I know Curry did a lot of VO
Randy Marthins 6:08:10 PM
Hey @lizbot !!! - were you one of those Haddonfield drama club kids who saw Rocky Horror at the Harwan in Audubon? I was!!!
Lizbot (host) 6:09:19 PM
@Rofflelectic - True. She was so emblematic of acceptance and reaching across to bridge different communities. So sad to lose her in these very divided times
Lizbot (host) 6:09:26 PM
Hi Randy Marthins!
Rofflelectic 6:10:56 PM
@Ossy, evil witch imprisoned centuries ago that escaped is my ex in a nutshell! lol
Dominique Montgomery 6:11:20 PM
We miss you Dolly
Lizbot (host) 6:11:47 PM
@Randy Marthins - haha, no! I knew those kids and the Harwan (RIP the Harwan Theater!) was one of two local theaters I used to ride my bike to, but I never got into the Rocky Horror cosplay thing. I remember those midnight screenings though, seeing all the fanatics out front!
Lizbot (host) 6:12:07 PM
Hi Dominique Montgomery!
Rofflelectic 6:12:23 PM
I think Dolly will be fine where ever she may go.
Randy Marthins 6:12:26 PM
@roffle the girl who tried to kill me ASPIRED to be a witch & her husband already believed himself a Warlock
Ossy 6:12:29 PM
and now peter cullen of legendary transformers optimus prime
Ossy 6:12:43 PM
roffle - LOL
Randy Marthins 6:13:13 PM
I thought the Cullens are immortal?
Rofflelectic 6:13:18 PM
The FUCK you say Randy? Holy shit!
Lizbot (host) 6:13:51 PM
@Dominique Montgomery - Such a sad string of losses, but yeah, Dolly really hurts. Both she and Tim Curry were so huge in the cultural zeitgeist. Dolly was just so lovable and true and generous in spirit
Lizbot (host) 6:14:03 PM
@Randy Marthins - whoa, what?
Ossy 6:14:30 PM
an cullen epsecially did lot for toonami in the 90s/2000s! What is going on in this generation of people going away forever!?
Ossy 6:15:49 PM
liz - yeah dolly broke me the most of all, when heard 1st on wdas fm philly station, after whitney's 'ill always love you" played. Patty Jackson announced her passing to my eyes widened shock!!
Randy Marthins 6:16:35 PM
Long time ago --- It's funny when I think about it now - she'd be about 70 and her "little girl" about 40
Rofflelectic 6:16:45 PM
@Randy, Me and the delusional girlfriends are when I gotta go man. I am sorry to hear that carzyness. People are pretty weird all day long. I love weird, but I also have my limits. Geezzzzzzzz
Randy Marthins 6:17:38 PM
@roffle - crazy/hot matrix, I'm just sayin
Randy Marthins 6:17:51 PM
I'm a sucker for it
Amy Lee 6:17:56 PM
Dib on Delusional Girlfriends band name.
Lizbot (host) 6:18:29 PM
@Ossy - Too much loss of these cultural heroes too rapidly without enough time to process!
Rofflelectic 6:18:41 PM
Oh, I have Reiki witch stories. The matrix is out there, and I want to keep it out there.
Lizbot (host) 6:19:12 PM
@Amy Lee - haha, good band name!
Lizbot (host) 6:19:52 PM
@Amy Lee - There's already the show Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, along that thinking
Rofflelectic 6:20:10 PM
@Amy Lee, do the copywrite now! Own it!
Ossy 6:20:23 PM
liz - especially all time legends like michael jackson, steve irwin, akira toriyama(creator of dragon ball franchise),, kobe bryant and so much...
Lizbot (host) 6:21:24 PM
I gives me great pleasure to follow Dolly with Van Der Graaf Generator. These two songs could be distant cousins!
Lizbot (host) 6:22:18 PM
@Ossy - Yeah, it's always especially rough when there's like a one-two (sometimes three) punch and you just when you wrap your head around one leaving, another is gone
Rofflelectic 6:22:28 PM
Dolly prog!
Lizbot (host) 6:23:44 PM
@Rofflelectic - ha, YES! I'd 100% welcome a Dolly prog album!
Rofflelectic 6:23:46 PM
I'm not eating vegtables until I get more Dolly prog!
Randy Marthins 6:24:02 PM
I'm gonna start a story that "AutoTune has lost 925 software engineers tasked with coding a digital voice filter that recreates Dolly Parton's signature vibrato. Each one has confessed 'it's mathematically impossible' That voice comes only from God"
Lizbot (host) 6:24:54 PM
@Rofflelectic - I'll join you in that protest! Cauliflower can shove it
Rofflelectic 6:25:01 PM
Maths don't always math
Rofflelectic 6:25:32 PM
Kiss my ass spinach!
Lizbot (host) 6:25:42 PM
@Randy Marthins - for real, her voice gives me the best kind of chills. Her voice, her songwriting, her whole personality
Lizbot (host) 6:26:09 PM
@Rofflelectic - Bite it, broccoli...but don't bite it
Rofflelectic 6:26:38 PM
That is conundrum
Ossy 6:28:16 PM
LOL, speaking of, dolly had one funny smelly quote about miss piggy and kermit BTW!
Randy Marthins 6:28:23 PM
@roffle I think the "voice box" that Jeff Beck invented, and was used to great effect by Peter Frampton and Jon Bovi can be done digitally now by adding the guitar + vocal streams, so singers don't need to use the "hardware" (the vinyl tube) anymore --- I could be wrong
Randy Marthins 6:28:41 PM
*jon Bon Jovi
Lizbot (host) 6:30:02 PM
@Ossy - haha, I remember DOlly and Miss Piggy interacting being a Muppets highlight of my youth!
Rofflelectic 6:30:16 PM
Wave mods, makes total sence in this day and age Randy.
Lizbot (host) 6:30:43 PM
@Randy Marthins - Jon Bovi! Cut out the middle man!
Ossy 6:31:28 PM
liz - always felt she and miss piggy quite look similar! dolly also huge on smelly mustard also LOL
Lizbot (host) 6:31:34 PM
@Randy Marthins - The vinyl tube is more visually goofy and entertaining, though!
Rofflelectic 6:32:21 PM
@lizbot, It is more performative for sure.
Lizbot (host) 6:32:35 PM
@Ossy - Yes, they were like spiritual sisters or something. Dolly and Piggy made perfect sense as friends. Both unapologetically confident!
Lizbot (host) 6:33:21 PM
@Rofflelectic - Performers should have to suffer some mild humiliation by looking silly in recording sessions and on stage to use that effect!
Ossy 6:34:39 PM
liz - easily relatable! same felt with her and tina turner!
Rofflelectic 6:35:35 PM
Performers put themselves out there. Very humbling out of the box. If you can take the humiliation and beat the shy self, you just might win the game.
Amy Lee 6:35:45 PM
While I always appreciated her, I really became a Dolly fan around 2005 or so. Whenever I wear a Dolly shirt, I always love sharing some random Dolly fact(s) w/whomever 'likes the shirt' & has more to add. It always leads to some awesome random info-sharing.
Lizbot (host) 6:35:45 PM
@Ossy - yes, Tina was a hard loss! What a total queen. Both of them were. My mom loved Tina a lot too. A real survivor
Lizbot (host) 6:36:19 PM
@Amy Lee- Nice! I bet you've had a lot of great conversations with strangers that way!
Randy Marthins 6:37:14 PM
Of all of her funny, nay, hilarious quotes from Dolly being posted, I think this is among my favorites “People always ask me how long it takes to do my hair. I don’t know. I’m never there.”
Ossy 6:37:59 PM
liz - tina's passing shook a lot of me, same with james earl jones!
Rofflelectic 6:38:36 PM
@Amy, Strange people are a wealth of weird knowledge, without a doubt!.
Randy Marthins 6:38:37 PM
Let us not forget - Dolly was Punk AF, when you think about it
Amy Lee 6:39:54 PM
I love when she told of losing a Dolly drag/lookalike contest.
Rofflelectic 6:40:21 PM
Whomever inherits the wig collection has no further monetary issues.
Dominique Montgomery 6:41:22 PM
LOL how did you know I have been playing this album on repeat for a couple weeks
Lizbot (host) 6:41:46 PM
@Randy Marthins - She had such a quick wit!
Lizbot (host) 6:42:18 PM
@Dominique Montgomery - Ah! I have tapped into the Dominique wavelength I guess!
Ossy 6:42:28 PM
music kindred sistas/ with cyndi lauper! https://i.pinimg.com/736x/b9/41/2e/b9412e96a097ac806f6286d3c14ca971.jpg
Dominique Montgomery 6:42:31 PM
😂
Amy Lee 6:43:12 PM
@Lizbot - to be fair, I've been told having great conversations w/strangers is one of my superpowers.
Lizbot (host) 6:43:14 PM
@Amy Lee - That's amazing (re: her losing the Dolly lookalike contest)! In New Orleans there was a whole Second Line parade of Dolly drag/lookalikes!
Lizbot (host) 6:43:45 PM
@Amy Lee - Shared interest artist/band shirts can lead to some good stranger convos!
Lizbot (host) 6:45:17 PM
@Ossy - OMG, amazing Cyndi with Dolly photos! I adored Cyndi growing up as well, and listened to the She's So Unusual album all the time
Lizbot (host) 6:46:29 PM
@Rofflelectic - Re: Dolly's wigs - To quote Indiana Jones - "They belong in a museum!" Though in actuality, it'd probably be better if they got use and lived on!
Lizbot (host) 6:47:22 PM
@Randy Marthins - Dolly was totally punk AF. Ever seen her interview with Barbara Walters? She gracefully does not take any of Barbara Walters' judgey shit!
Randy Marthins 6:48:15 PM
I quote from IG "In a world as cruel, brutal and dark as this one is, having compassion and empathy and love is an act of rebellion. Who has done that better than Dolly Parton?"
Lizbot (host) 6:48:48 PM
@Randy Marthins - That's so true. It takes strength to be gentle and kind!
Lizbot (host) 6:48:56 PM
Also love this Dolly quote: "I'm not offended by all the dumb blonde jokes because I know I'm not dumb... and I also know that I'm not blonde"
Dominique Montgomery 6:51:03 PM
Yesss love animals and men
Rofflelectic 6:51:42 PM
I loved her bit on Carson with not running for public office because it is already full of boobs.
Lizbot (host) 6:51:46 PM
@Dominique Montgomery - They're so good!
Lizbot (host) 6:52:10 PM
@Rofflelectic - She always had a good quip!
Randy Marthins 6:52:32 PM
My daughter has 3 shirts she got from TARGET that she calls "The Iconics" - Joan Jett, Debbie Harry/Blondie, and Dolly
Rofflelectic 6:53:02 PM
You have good taste Dom, I might just add that we are animals too! We got things covered for ya. :)
Randy Marthins 6:53:15 PM
I believe that her mom & I have raised her well LOL
Lizbot (host) 6:53:37 PM
Many years ago I was looking for breakfast in midtown Manhattan and stumbled upon a diner with a Dolly Parton theme. Even the bathrooms were decked out in Dolly album covers and memorabilia. I wonder if that place is still there
Dominique Montgomery 6:53:40 PM
Finally got a copy of never bought never sold at new record store echo echo on passyunk a couple weeks ago
Dominique Montgomery 6:54:10 PM
@roffleclectic lol
Lizbot (host) 6:54:35 PM
@Randy Marthins - haha, your daughter is cool. But I still am a bit grumpy with Joan for distancing herself from her Philly 'burbs origins!
Lizbot (host) 6:55:40 PM
@Dominique Montgomery - oh nice! My sister-in-law lives near that store. Gonna drop by there again soon and see what I find!
Randy Marthins 6:56:16 PM
Yeah, I understand that - we call her "Miss Larkin" around the house LOL
Lizbot (host) 6:56:52 PM
@Dominique Montgomery - I got all my Animals & Men from Chuck Warner's table at the FMU record fair a couple dozen years ago. And then of course he reissued their stuff on Hyped2Death, thankfully!
Dominique Montgomery 6:58:35 PM
@lizbot yeah it’s a good spot and a nice combo to hit it and beautiful world syndicate
Randy Marthins 6:59:51 PM
Hmmmm - I hadn't planned going down that way for a while, but I am intrigued
Randy Marthins 7:00:15 PM
"That's what she said" sorry
TAndy 7:00:24 PM
Hey hey Lizbot!
Lizbot (host) 7:01:48 PM
@Dominique Montgomery - Yes! Twenty years ago my husband and I briefly owned Roundabout Records on 9th Street near the Italian Market (formally called 9th Street Records, started by Bob Dickie of the Strapping Fieldhands), and we sold our inventory to Beautiful World Syndicate when we closed!
Lizbot (host) 7:01:55 PM
Hi TAndy!
Rofflelectic 7:02:31 PM
I don't think this is 3 Dog Night, unless they have had a hell of a makeover.
Lizbot (host) 7:03:06 PM
@Rofflelectic - Laura Nyro!
TAndy 7:03:15 PM
I was awoken early due to losing power for a moment, didn't realize it was actually still storming!
TAndy 7:03:55 PM
Glad I was though, I didn't wanna miss the show 😄
Rofflelectic 7:04:23 PM
Oh, well good then, my childhood memories are still intact. LOL
Lizbot (host) 7:04:41 PM
@TAndy - Glad you made it! And that your power was quickly restored! It was storming hard in Philly when I left this afternoon!
Lizbot (host) 7:05:14 PM
@Rofflelectic - haha, yeah, that would have a bit of a departure for them!
Rofflelectic 7:05:27 PM
The sky is still weird out there.
Lizbot (host) 7:06:13 PM
@TAndy /@Rofflelectic - I have curtains drawn in studio, so I don't know what it's doing out here in Central Jersey weather-wise right now, but I DID see a flash of lightning through the curtains earlier in the show!
Alex from Media 7:06:40 PM
Hey Lizbot and crew! Still woozy from a hard nap. I could almost swear I understood the words to Eli's Comin!
Rofflelectic 7:06:47 PM
I do like the piece. It's on one of my fave personal playlists.
Lizbot (host) 7:07:19 PM
Hi Alex from Media!
Randy Marthins 7:07:28 PM
NTD - thanks folks & see ya 'round
Lizbot (host) 7:07:34 PM
@Alex from Media - haha, yeah, something about "hide your heart"!
Lizbot (host) 7:07:59 PM
See ya, Randy Marthins!
Rofflelectic 7:08:30 PM
I have a great window by my deask and I love storm days unless I would rather be out on the bike traails.
Rofflelectic 7:09:12 PM
At least we have summer rains. I can work with that.
Rofflelectic 7:09:42 PM
Be well Randy
Lizbot (host) 7:10:49 PM
@Rofflelectic - I like summer rains, as long as they don't come with tornadoes or those treacherous "micro-bursts" we've been getting lately! But yes, a nice gentle summer rain, or listening to music in a downpour under my porch roof or indoors safe and dry is always an extra-special time to listen!
Dominique Montgomery 7:11:01 PM
@lizbot oh cool I didn’t know that!
Lizbot (host) 7:12:23 PM
@Dominique Montgomery - I believe the last time we had the sign was in our old place on Poplar!
Rofflelectic 7:13:12 PM
I was the only dope outside one night at Johnny Brenda's during a crazy downpour. I took lots of cool pictures.
Stephen Bluhm 7:14:19 PM
halo!
Rofflelectic 7:14:23 PM
I also had Guinness and Mushrooms. Good times.
Stephen Bluhm 7:15:37 PM
hey nice way to start out hearing my friend Chris Ewen
Lizbot (host) 7:15:58 PM
Hi Stephen Bluhm!
Stephen Bluhm 7:16:04 PM
for 20 seconds lol
Lizbot (host) 7:16:15 PM
@Stephen Bluhm - Congrats on yr Work Crush single coming out this week!
Ossy 7:17:19 PM
love this
Lizbot (host) 7:17:37 PM
@Stephen Bluhm - Ah yes, I love those early Future Bible Heroes albums and EPs! I see Chris has a few more Pretty In Pink DJ tea dances left to the summer. He's going well into September I guess!
Lizbot (host) 7:18:03 PM
@Ossy - Glad you're digging it! Also a bit video-gamey + ambient
Ossy 7:18:18 PM
and futuristic
Lizbot (host) 7:18:26 PM
@Stephen Bluhm - Yeah, that Bathysphere track is so short but so pretty
Lizbot (host) 7:20:30 PM
@Ossy - Yes, a sweet-spot between plinky vintage synth sounds, chiptune and futuristic
Dale Hazelton 7:23:28 PM
evening. LOVE this laurie spiegel...
Lizbot (host) 7:23:43 PM
Hi Dale Hazelton!
Ossy 7:24:07 PM
liz - spekaing chippytune, yet to see tributes posts from tara sands, but im sure she must've tributed dolly and tim on her storties days ago!
Rofflelectic 7:24:52 PM
Future Bible Heroes? Sounds like a summer camp in the Poconos'! LOL
Lizbot (host) 7:25:14 PM
@Dale Hazelton - I love Laurie Spiegel so much, which is of course why I use her Patchwork piece as my transition music at the beginning of every ++good episode! She came to the I-House in West Philly to play a show years ago
Lizbot (host) 7:27:06 PM
@Ossy - oh yeah, i mean especially wrt Tim given they both did so many cartoon show voiceovers
Rofflelectic 7:27:13 PM
That Cheer-Accident was way good.
Lizbot (host) 7:28:26 PM
@Rofflelectic - haha, yeah I don't know the backstory, but I know that one of the creative forces behind that group, Stephin Merritt, has a good sense of humor and grew up moving around a lot with his mom to various kooky communes and camp-type places!
Lizbot (host) 7:29:18 PM
@Rofflelectic - I love the Introducing Lemon album. That album back in the beginning of the 2000s was my introduction to Cheer-Accident
Rofflelectic 7:29:40 PM
Kooky communes! I would love to read their brochures!
Ossy 7:29:56 PM
liz - totally no doubt tara will tribute tim curry, being legendary voices!
Rofflelectic 7:30:27 PM
George just play at the Rotunda with them, I am so sorry I missed that.
bixa 7:30:36 PM
this show doesn't miss
Lizbot (host) 7:31:42 PM
@Rofflelectic - He stayed in one that had no music, radios, record players when he was a preteen, so he and his friends formed a band about which he said "we made The Shaggs sound like Yes"! All documented in his amazing Magnetic Fields album "50 Song Memoir," which is comprised of 1 song for each year of his life up to that point
Lizbot (host) 7:31:48 PM
Hi Bixa! Thanks!
Lizbot (host) 7:32:56 PM
@Rofflelectic - It was a fun show! Also had the first reuniting of King Missile with Dog Bowl in like 20 plus years! Was a heatwave night, but great!
Rofflelectic 7:33:09 PM
Probably started recording at age one as well! LOL
Lizbot (host) 7:33:59 PM
@Rofflelectic - He collected synths! It shows!
Rofflelectic 7:34:10 PM
Amazing Magnetic Fields now has my attention.
Lizbot (host) 7:35:38 PM
@Rofflelectic - Mag Fields are one of my all-time favorite bands, period!
Rofflelectic 7:36:20 PM
Magnetic Field Laboratory is now the nickname of my personal space. Thanks for that one!
Lizbot (host) 7:36:39 PM
@Rofflelectic - Nice!
Lizbot (host) 7:38:12 PM
@Rofflelectic - The Magnetic Fields took their name from an André Breton/Philippe Soupault novel called Les Champs Magnétiques, so when you're feeling fancy, you can use the French version of the name for yr studio!
Rofflelectic 7:42:05 PM
Oh, that's sharp. I can now say, All ye enter and weep! Thou hast crossed the threshold of the Magnetic Fields laboratory. Or something like that. I'm kind of working on it.
Lizbot (host) 7:43:01 PM
@Rofflelectic - Ah yes, we must all take heed!
Rofflelectic 7:43:07 PM
Everybody owns a magnet.
Rofflelectic 7:43:17 PM
Of some sort
Alex from Media 7:44:37 PM
The random technical diagram above the chat box illustrates a magnetic field.
Rofflelectic 7:45:40 PM
Entrez tous et pleurez ! Tu as franchi le seuil du laboratoire des Champs Magnétiques. Has a ring to it.
Lizbot (host) 7:46:42 PM
@Rofflelectic - In the words of those wise mages of the Insane Clown Posse: "Water, fire, air and dirt. Magnets, how do they work?"
Rofflelectic 7:46:47 PM
Inductor city Alex
Rofflelectic 7:46:57 PM
Great call!
Lizbot (host) 7:47:25 PM
@Alex from Media - True!! Ack, I forgot because I see the graphic-less version the DJs see when entering songs!
Rofflelectic 7:48:41 PM
How do they work? According to our omniscient president, just don't get'em wet.
Alex from Media 7:48:55 PM
Roffle is more precise.
Lizbot (host) 7:49:46 PM
@Rofflelectic - The Anti-Science Science! Oh boy, we're screwed!
Rofflelectic 7:50:12 PM
Still, don't get'em wet or they will be drawn to you. :)
Alex from Media 7:50:50 PM
Or multpily.
Alex from Media 7:51:04 PM
* multiply
Ossy 7:51:34 PM

Dominique Montgomery 7:52:43 PM
I also regret not going to that show!
Rofflelectic 7:53:13 PM
Camp Miasma? That's so funny!
Rofflelectic 7:53:57 PM
Be well Rob.
Ossy 7:54:59 PM

Lizbot (host) 7:55:43 PM
Thanks Amy Lee!
Number 6 7:55:44 PM
Thanks for a good sleeping in rainy weather show, BCNU!
Rofflelectic 7:56:01 PM
Great stuff as always. Thanks Lizbot! Catch you along the way!
Lizbot (host) 7:56:03 PM
@Ossy - THank you! Have a good rainy smelly summer-into-fall night!
Stephen Bluhm (1) 7:56:16 PM
I Go to Sleep crept into writing There Was a Light
Lizbot (host) 7:56:22 PM
@Rofflelectic - Camp Miasma was a lot of fun!
Stephen Bluhm (1) 7:56:32 PM
it's not exactly the same but if you listen to them back to back you can hear it
Lizbot (host) 7:56:55 PM
@Tyler B - Glenside and specifically the cute little Keswick Village area!
Lizbot (host) 7:57:05 PM
@OSsy- Solomon can do it!
𓀠 ǝɹnɔsqꓳ ǝɥꓕ ǝʌɐꓷ 𓀡 7:57:21 PM
This Kinks could be a Caravan song
Lizbot (host) 7:57:41 PM
@R Rofflelectic - Magnets follow Gremlins rules! Don't get 'em wet!
Lizbot (host) 7:58:02 PM
Hi 𓀠 ǝɹnɔsqꓳ ǝɥꓕ ǝʌɐꓷ 𓀡! Haha, I guess you're right about that!
Lizbot (host) 7:58:25 PM
@𓀠 ǝɹnɔsqꓳ ǝɥꓕ ǝʌɐꓷ 𓀡 - Never really thought about it, but now I'm picturing a Caravan version of that song!
Lizbot (host) 7:59:03 PM
@Stephen Bluhm - Oh wow, that's good to know and I can sorta see the similarity/influence!
Lizbot (host) 7:59:13 PM
Thanks Number 6!
Stephen Bluhm (1) 8:00:06 PM
it wasn't conscious, didn't realize it til years later, but was obsessed with the song at the time, heard it on Cher's debut album
Lizbot (host) 8:01:00 PM
@Dominique Montgomery - Yes! I knew Alison Moyet was coming and marked it on my calendar and then just wasn't motivated that night! Saw the Losties photo out front of the Keswick afterwards and heard it was a fun show. Oh well! That'll teach me to stay home!
Lizbot (host) 8:01:39 PM
@Stephen Bluhm - Oh yeah, it's such an amazing song!
Lizbot (host) 8:02:55 PM
Goodnight everyone! Stay safe in these storms and see you next week!
