Actually Curry had some independent releases. In college the local theater showed Paradise Garage before Rocky Horror on Friday nights.

Recently watched City Sugar with Tim Curry as a DJ. Definitely not among the best Tim Curry films but he was still memorably nasty

He played the Grand Wizard in HBO's The Worst Witch back in the 80's opposite Diana Rigg. I can't help but think that JK Rowling drew inspiration from that show for Harry Potter.

One of the strangest and most random parts Tim Curry had in a movie was in 'The Shout' by Jerzy Skolimowski in which he played a character named Robert Graves. Or was he supposed to be THE Robert Graves? One of the details that I couldn't stop noticing was that he had a number of holes in the professorial sweater he was wearing for the role. I wonder if that was written in or something Curry insisted on -- like maybe it was his real-life favorite moth-eaten sweater or something...

I haven't seen many of them either. Just 'The Shout' and 'The Deep End', I think. I didn't see 'XO', his remake of Bresson's 'Au Hasard, Balthazar' because I could hardly recover from the original. I think I've almost never cried so hard watching a movie as watching that one.

I saw XO, It is devastating but it's no Bresson

The last role I saw Curry play was the villainous wizard Trymon in "The Colour of Money", based on Terry Pratchett's first two Discworld novels.

Good to know! The intro to your show where the musicologist talks about all the random objects the Brits used to make music reminds me of John Hurt's character in 'The Shout'. He plays an electronic music composer who collects found sounds then loops them and manipulates them through various synthesizers. I think the music was actually composed and performed by YES (or was it Genesis?)

The finest Tim Curry film I ever saw (42 years ago) was "The Ploughman's Lunch" with Jonathan Pryce and Rosemary Harris. I never did see the post-Jim Henson "Muppet Treasure Island".
