Hello!
Dan Wade {2} 4:59:32 PM
Hi there.
Jon Solomon 🐧 (host) 5:00:04 PM
Dan!
Jon Solomon 🐧 (host) 5:00:16 PM
Hope all is well out by you.
Alex from Media 5:02:29 PM
Hi Jon! It occurs to me that there is room for a techno version of every single musical work.
Dan Wade {2} 5:02:33 PM
Same to you. And are we yet alive....
Jon Solomon 🐧 (host) 5:03:19 PM
Alex, it is as simple as adding a beat underneath.
DJ Tenderloin 5:03:31 PM
Radio! Radio! Radio! Good evening Jon solomon Good evening chatters
Jon Solomon 🐧 (host) 5:03:52 PM
Some excellent regulars already in early. Nice.
donutage 5:03:55 PM

Speaking of which!
Classy Pat 5:04:49 PM

Jon Solomon 🐧 (host) 5:05:02 PM
Easy money.
donutage 5:05:15 PM
I was AMOL at the shore last week. Glad y'all survived the Smokepocalypse.
Jon Solomon 🐧 (host) 5:05:41 PM
Hope the shore treated you right. I went running in a mask one night. Not my favorite experience!
donutage 5:05:47 PM
AWOL, I mean
donutage 5:07:56 PM
Shore was ok. only a little smoky. but it was an exhausting week of emptying out a beach house of several genherations worth of miscellaneous junk.
Rob from Maryland 🦀 5:08:50 PM
Hi everyone!
Dan Wade {2} 5:09:31 PM
I have railed on those Zimmer / Nolan scores before
donutage 5:10:27 PM
I found some truly alarming surgical parphernalia, as you do.
Jon Solomon 🐧 (host) 5:10:35 PM
Dan, I think we were seated IN a speaker. That said, I sort of appreciated how it broke us all down.
Jon Solomon 🐧 (host) 5:10:44 PM
Not Zimmer this time though!
Jon Solomon 🐧 (host) 5:11:12 PM
Welcome, Rob! Got a great deal on alarming surgical paraphernalia in the chat tonight for any takers.
donutage 5:11:37 PM
lol
DJ Tenderloin 5:12:14 PM
Shoot I was in Costco and i already got all my surgical paraphernalia
maggie s 5:12:41 PM
sweet deals on surgery?!
donutage 5:13:20 PM
Just the equipment, maggie
DJ Tenderloin 5:13:46 PM
I am enjoying this. could be peppier.
maggie s 5:13:48 PM
well, that's not a burning airlines song!
Jon Solomon 🐧 (host) 5:13:48 PM
Well, once you've got the alarming surgical paraphernalia you can cut your own deals (among other things).
maggie s 5:14:00 PM
guten abend, &c.
Classy Pat 5:14:06 PM
i'll do the surgery for $20

Classy Pat 5:14:27 PM
i have a no blood policy tho
Alex from Media 5:14:32 PM
Every morning I walk past a display of 19th century obstetric devices in the fyoyer of the hospital. This is not enhancing the patient experience methinks.
donutage 5:15:03 PM
Yikes, no
Classy Pat 5:15:44 PM
maybe sneak some fun items into the display
DJ Tenderloin 5:16:40 PM
"cut your own deals (among other things)" - nice Jon. I see what you did there.
maggie s 5:17:14 PM
i went to see the quay bros film made about the collection at the mutter museum when i was 7 months pregnant. there's a part about some very awful obstetric tools, and it was really warm in the room, and i might have gotten a bit faint
Classy Pat 5:17:54 PM
yikes
maggie s 5:18:25 PM
do not recommend!
maggie s 5:18:37 PM
(as a fan of both the mütter and the quays!)
Jon Solomon 🐧 (host) 5:19:22 PM
Chicago has a Mutteresque museum. I will now look if it still exists.
Dan Wade {2} 5:19:28 PM
"Autotune the World" should rip off the Sherwin Williams logo
Alex from Media 5:19:34 PM
@ maggie i beleive the mutter museum is deliberately stuffy to elicit that response.
El Patricio 5:19:45 PM
Belated greetings and salutations to all from 3 hours ago! That Parts & Labor was really something

maggie s 5:21:45 PM
last year we went to the medieval torture museum in chicago. my kid: loved it. bill's boss's kids: CRYING UNCONTROLLABLY.
Jon Solomon 🐧 (host) 5:21:51 PM
Wow!
Classy Pat 5:22:19 PM
message received then
Alex from Media 5:22:21 PM
Last night I was treated to The Hoff's True Sruvivor and I was thinking that by not availing himself of autotune he was enhancing the legend.
Classy Pat 5:22:37 PM
that last song was excellent
Jon Solomon 🐧 (host) 5:22:58 PM
Pat, the whole compilation is super. Will be leaning on it a bunch the next number of weeks.
El Patricio 5:22:58 PM
"Fun' surgery stuff: had rotator cuff repair a few years ago. Unprompted, the doc snail mailed me three 8 1/2 X 11 pages of pics of the procedure from the arthroscope. Will never view sushi the same.
Jon Solomon 🐧 (host) 5:23:32 PM
I am still a little miffed they did not give me my back lipoma back after I had it removed recently.
El Patricio 5:24:11 PM
Demand a refund
maggie s 5:24:17 PM
i didn't ask to keep the chunk of my weird kidney that was removed and i regret it every day
Mats Sabbath 5:24:32 PM
Sword of Damocles! Been awhile since I heard this one.
Dan Wade {2} 5:24:49 PM
Exactly! It's like skipping the last 5 minutes of a Dr Pimple Popper episode.
maggie s 5:26:08 PM
<3
Amy Lee 5:26:11 PM
@Donutage-was finding the surgical paraphernalia in itself alarming or are they earlier versions of said items before they became more sophisticated?
Jon Solomon 🐧 (host) 5:26:48 PM
Let me try again with a funny (?) typo corrected...
Jon Solomon 🐧 (host) 5:27:43 PM
The Lou Reed song is for a friend from middle school who checked out recently. His obituary made a point of discussing his struggles with addiction and depression and while I'll probably saying something about this on-mic I wanted to make sure I shared with the chat either way.
Alex from Media 5:29:59 PM
Let me be more coherent. Surgical tools and torture tools are basically the same thing. Only one is applied to awake persons.
Mats Sabbath 5:30:14 PM
Chance Meeting on a Dissecting Table of a Sewing Machine and an Umbrella, as per Nurse with Wound
DJ Tenderloin 5:30:21 PM
Sorry to hear that Jon. I've known some folks in similar straights. Though I didn't know James, Rest in Peace James.
Mats Sabbath 5:30:30 PM
indeed
Jon Solomon 🐧 (host) 5:31:12 PM
Thanks, y'all. Not someone I had seen in well over a decade or two but used to interact with on Facebook.
Jon Solomon 🐧 (host) 5:32:17 PM
To lighten the mood, letting you all know that there are two new designs in the WPRB shop and all shirts are reduced to $16 through tomorrow night!
Jon Solomon 🐧 (host) 5:32:20 PM
shop.wprb.com
donutage 5:32:55 PM
@Amy Lee — their presence wasn't alarming (my dad was a surgeon). and they weren't old enough to be truly gruesome, but even some modern tools are pretty, um, unsubtle.
DJ Tenderloin 5:33:05 PM
I hadn't heard that Lou song probably since that record came out. I forgot what a gut punch of a song that was. Lou.
Mats Sabbath 5:33:37 PM
DJ Tenderloin same here
donutage 5:34:36 PM
Oddly enough, "Sword of Damocles" popped up on my ear buds yesterday while I was grocery shopping. Sorry for your loss, Jon.
Jon Solomon 🐧 (host) 5:34:39 PM
It is indeed rough but a couple of the other suggestions a mutual friend made were tougher subject matter-wise.
DJ Tenderloin 5:35:40 PM
well hell, i think you should do a James set
Jon Solomon 🐧 (host) 5:35:51 PM
Not sure I had heard this Lou Reed record prior.
DJ Tenderloin 5:36:50 PM
The whole record is about death & dying as I remember
donutage 5:37:21 PM
Yes. It's gloomy, but very good.
Mats Sabbath 5:37:24 PM
specifically, cancer of a friend of Lou's
Jon Solomon 🐧 (host) 5:38:29 PM
The 2-3 songs I heard off it yesterday at this mutual friend's recommendation certainly contained a common theme...
donutage 5:39:23 PM
The stretch of New York (1989), Songs for Drella (1990), and Magic & Loss (1992) was a strong late-career renaissance for Lou.
Jon Solomon 🐧 (host) 5:39:48 PM
I saw Lou Reed on the New York tour at McCarter Theatre. The Feelies opened. Now to look up a set list...
DJ Tenderloin 5:39:57 PM
donutage - totally - that run was amazing
Brian D 5:40:00 PM
Ya track 2, What's Good, from the Lou M&L lp got some airplay. Great lp. Raunchy Looo riddim guitar tones. Songs for Drella few yrs earlier w/Cale was a goodn too. High points in the Lou Cal VU history.
Mats Sabbath 5:40:03 PM
The Feelies!
DJ Tenderloin 5:40:25 PM
I saw the feelies open for Lou too! Must've been the same tour.
Jon Solomon 🐧 (host) 5:40:28 PM
https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/lou-reed/1989/mccarter-theatre-princeton-nj-23d0d003.html
Jon Solomon 🐧 (host) 5:40:32 PM
Hey Brian!
DJ Tenderloin 5:40:55 PM
I saw lou a coupla times - first time was the new sensations tour. still like that record.
Jon Solomon 🐧 (host) 5:41:06 PM
My basketball coach was in the row behind me. I was maybe on a date? Awkward all around.
DJ Tenderloin 5:41:31 PM
his guitar player was Robert Quine on that tour
Brian D 5:41:52 PM
Sounds like that great 1989 tour for the lp titled New York another one in that great high point period for Lou. He played the whole new lp on that tour and that was a good thing from what I hear.
Brian D 5:42:18 PM
Oh it was haha ya just looked up that same setlist linkee
Jon Solomon 🐧 (host) 5:42:25 PM
Oh wild, DJ Tenderloin.
DJ Tenderloin 5:42:26 PM
saw that 89 tour too. and he did play the whole record. lots of lyrics so he had a sheet music stand
donutage 5:42:26 PM
Dang, that's a helluva show!
Brian D 5:42:47 PM
Fernando Saunders on the bass then no doubt. Great player. Solid riddim for Lou band
TAndy 5:42:57 PM
Hey hey!
DJ Tenderloin 5:43:03 PM
And then there was a tour and I can't remember when but Jane's Addiction opened
donutage 5:43:16 PM
I never managed to see Lou live.
Jon Solomon 🐧 (host) 5:43:37 PM
TAndy! You still away?
TAndy 5:44:54 PM
Yep, went to Livingston GT yesterday and came back today. A bit early due to a certain travellers sickness, just trying my best to recover and rest! It's still a beautiful experience, so many photos and videos.
Jon Solomon 🐧 (host) 5:45:06 PM
Rest up, sir.
DJ Tenderloin 5:45:19 PM
This song mixed with bad drugs would not be a good thing
Brian D 5:45:47 PM
Love that title track to New Sensations where he basically tells stories, one about riding his Harley over to PA via the Delaware Water Gap (Lou was living in rural NJ earthquake country at the time). He loved that bike so much he could kiss her....
Norman Burnosky 5:45:54 PM
Hm, that was low-key terrifying
Dale Hazelton 5:46:17 PM
afternoon. i'm not a lou reed fan but really liked that one. hope that doesn't get me excommunicated...
DJ Tenderloin 5:46:42 PM
Jon are you or the station gonna get that new "lost" cramps record??
Mats Sabbath 5:46:44 PM
Off the Bone !
Brian D 5:47:15 PM
For the record: "I took my GPZ out for a ride The engine felt good between my thighs. The air felt cool, it was 40 degrees outside. I rode to Pennsylvania near the Delaware Gap Sometimes I got lost and had to check the map. I stopped at a roadside diner for a burger and a coke. There were some country folk and some hunters inside. Somebody got themselves married and somebody died I went to the jukebox and played a hillbilly song. They was arguing about football as I waved and went outside.
Brian D 5:47:17 PM
And I headed for the mountains feeling warm inside I love that GPZ so much, you know that I could kiss her
TAndy 5:47:29 PM
How were the storms yesterday for y'all? I saw some crazy ish
Jon Solomon 🐧 (host) 5:47:48 PM
Norman, we survived!
Jon Solomon 🐧 (host) 5:47:55 PM
DJ Tenderloin, I certainly hope so.
Mats Sabbath 5:47:57 PM
this record had an anaglyph and 3D glasses!
Jon Solomon 🐧 (host) 5:48:20 PM
Storms were not much of anything by me. I think it all passed to the north.
Dan Wade {2} 5:49:49 PM
Thanks to a sloppy spreadsheet, for many years I thought Rakim was in a band called Eric
Jon Solomon 🐧 (host) 5:50:23 PM
I never knew where to search for Eric B. & Rakim records at a store. E? B? R?
Brian D 5:50:44 PM
Reading the new Richie Unterberger bio on the Velvet Underground now, very good. So I am way nestled in the Lou and co world. Read the most recent Lou bio last year or 2 ago as well. Great read that.
Jon Solomon 🐧 (host) 5:50:59 PM
People keep finding new info, somehow.
DJ Tenderloin 5:52:23 PM
Brian D - i also enjoyed King of New York. Exhaustive!
Jon Solomon 🐧 (host) 5:53:54 PM
Tease: I think the last song of this set and the first song of the next set have similar keyboards.
Rob from Maryland 🦀 5:53:55 PM

Brian D 5:56:43 PM
Heard Kiwi Jr first righ cheer at ol PRB (Cooler Returns - 2021) and every thing I hear from them since is a fun ride.
donutage 5:58:41 PM
Kiwi jr! I got turned on to them pretty recently. They're coming to Philly soon: Johnny Brenda's 8/21
Brian D 5:59:24 PM
Just read the new Robyn Hitchcock memoir installation. Great way w words as always. Loved that last (first) one as well. First one from a couple years back takes Robyn up through the school years (think Beatles, Dylan, Floyd all blowing up). This latest one takes him through the 70s as the Soft Boys stake their claims while the neighbours complain. Love his ability to just sculpt away with thoughts letters words etc
donutage 6:02:35 PM
Slipping in to lurk mode as it is time to make risotto. Be good, bambini!
Brian D 6:02:49 PM
Sorry about your bud Jon. Fully support his forethought to spread the uncensored, non-glossed-over words about the way he went out. A good honest request. And way to play some good music in honor.
donutage 6:06:58 PM
Great Plains!
El Patricio 6:06:59 PM
If Sunn 0))) had done soundtrack, I'd totally be there
Jon Solomon 🐧 (host) 6:07:00 PM
I agree Brian. Didn't say it on-air but he was one of the smartest people I knew and with some folks I think being so smart is more of a curse than a blessing - especially during difficult times.
DJ Tenderloin 6:08:28 PM
I like to say - the more you know, the less you want to
donutage 6:08:47 PM
oof, ain't that a mood
Jon Solomon 🐧 (host) 6:09:35 PM
Happy to be America's Smartest Dumb Guy.
donutage 6:09:44 PM
Last comment before going full lurk: my fave Great Plains song is "Martin Luther King & Martin Luther Drinking"
Jon Solomon 🐧 (host) 6:10:00 PM
Incredible title. Love that band. Go lurk!
Dan Wade {2} 6:10:20 PM
I hear what you mean about similar keyboards - perhaps a Farfisa on that Great Plains song?
Jon Solomon 🐧 (host) 6:11:17 PM
Believe so. Only realized it when laying the program you're listening to out.
oldmotorbikeguy 6:15:27 PM
hi jon. you got me with the albini birthday. love to you and your family.
DJ Tenderloin 6:15:55 PM
that's the 2nd time I've heard the word "Christmas" in a song tonight. Jon - do you have this thing where if Christmas shows up in a song it's like my ears perk for a split second
Jon Solomon 🐧 (host) 6:16:18 PM
Thanks, Chris. My best to you all as well.
Jon Solomon 🐧 (host) 6:17:06 PM
DJ Tenderloin, the musician Fishboy told me he put in a few mentions of Christmas on his new record in hopes of marathon play. Real good album. Next week!
DJ Tenderloin 6:18:45 PM
omg Jon that's hilarious
DJ Tenderloin 6:21:23 PM
"listen fellas if we just shout Christmas! a few times at the end, Solomon will spin it on his Christmas show!" Solid strategy.
Jon Solomon 🐧 (host) 6:23:59 PM
"Let's call the song 'Christmas' and hope for the best!"
Amy Lee 6:25:37 PM
Well, it's almost the halfway 'til mark.
Jon Solomon 🐧 (host) 6:26:03 PM
Of this song? Just you wait!
Amy Lee 6:27:13 PM
Christmas Marathon show
DJ Tenderloin 6:27:50 PM
They don't call him Long Song Solomon for nothing! (Ed. note - no one calls him this)
Jon Solomon 🐧 (host) 6:27:58 PM
More than halfway to Xmas by this point!
Jon Solomon 🐧 (host) 6:28:34 PM
I will permit "Terminator S," as Donutage called me earlier this chat.
DJ Tenderloin 6:29:05 PM
I am super stoked for Xmas this year. I've been on FIRE
Jon Solomon 🐧 (host) 6:31:24 PM
I'm in the "guarded optimism" stage.
oldmotorbikeguy 6:31:50 PM
i just want to get thru november
DJ Tenderloin 6:32:13 PM
That's probably smart. A cautious optimism.
Joseph Nally 6:33:49 PM

Jon Solomon 🐧 (host) 6:34:32 PM
Good evening, Joseph.
Jon Solomon 🐧 (host) 6:35:03 PM
OMBG, same but it is "get to September."
Jon Solomon 🐧 (host) 6:35:24 PM
I must admit I never checked out Bark Psychosis like I should have.
Amy Lee 6:35:26 PM
Guarded optimism is a much better way to explain why I don't get excited about future plans.
Jon Solomon 🐧 (host) 6:35:38 PM
Think I thought they sounded differently than they did!
Carlos Ramone 6:36:48 PM
Amy Lee…100% with your guarded optimism
DJ Tenderloin 6:37:05 PM
Dinner be calling - an excellent show thus far Jon, really enjoyed Kiwi Jr., Mic King, Parts & Labor, et al. Have a great evening chatters, enjoy the aural adventure - cheers
Dan Wade {2} 6:37:15 PM
@DJTenderloin I mean it worked for H Town
Jon Solomon 🐧 (host) 6:39:36 PM
Thanks, DJ Tenderloin. Might have over-timed this one so going to be a photo finish.

Jon Solomon 🐧 (host) 6:52:46 PM
I find that with each of these the best way to hear them is to air all the parts. Was a little late getting to III but worth the wait.
Pickled Eggs 7:09:31 PM
Wow this Spain song, stopped me in my dinner making. Chilling. Whats the story?
Jon Solomon 🐧 (host) 7:10:21 PM
Story in what regard? This is sort of par for their very good course. Also, the band won the World Cup.
Pickled Eggs 7:11:02 PM
I guess ill have to hear more. Sounds very promising
Jon Solomon 🐧 (host) 7:11:12 PM
Son of Charlie Haden, brother of Petra Haden.
Jon Solomon 🐧 (host) 7:11:35 PM
Josh Haden is the constant in the band. The Blue Moods of Spain is a very good album. Glad you caught it!
Pickled Eggs 7:13:31 PM
Same thank you! Will find a copy.
Jon Solomon 🐧 (host) 7:14:23 PM
