Every morning I walk past a display of 19th century obstetric devices in the fyoyer of the hospital. This is not enhancing the patient experience methinks.

i went to see the quay bros film made about the collection at the mutter museum when i was 7 months pregnant. there's a part about some very awful obstetric tools, and it was really warm in the room, and i might have gotten a bit faint

"Fun' surgery stuff: had rotator cuff repair a few years ago. Unprompted, the doc snail mailed me three 8 1/2 X 11 pages of pics of the procedure from the arthroscope. Will never view sushi the same.

I am still a little miffed they did not give me my back lipoma back after I had it removed recently.

The Lou Reed song is for a friend from middle school who checked out recently. His obituary made a point of discussing his struggles with addiction and depression and while I'll probably saying something about this on-mic I wanted to make sure I shared with the chat either way.

Let me be more coherent. Surgical tools and torture tools are basically the same thing. Only one is applied to awake persons.

@Amy Lee — their presence wasn't alarming (my dad was a surgeon). and they weren't old enough to be truly gruesome, but even some modern tools are pretty, um, unsubtle.

I hadn't heard that Lou song probably since that record came out. I forgot what a gut punch of a song that was. Lou.

The stretch of New York (1989), Songs for Drella (1990), and Magic & Loss (1992) was a strong late-career renaissance for Lou.

I saw Lou Reed on the New York tour at McCarter Theatre. The Feelies opened. Now to look up a set list...

Ya track 2, What's Good, from the Lou M&L lp got some airplay. Great lp. Raunchy Looo riddim guitar tones. Songs for Drella few yrs earlier w/Cale was a goodn too. High points in the Lou Cal VU history.

Sounds like that great 1989 tour for the lp titled New York another one in that great high point period for Lou. He played the whole new lp on that tour and that was a good thing from what I hear.

Yep, went to Livingston GT yesterday and came back today. A bit early due to a certain travellers sickness, just trying my best to recover and rest! It's still a beautiful experience, so many photos and videos.

This song mixed with bad drugs would not be a good thing

Love that title track to New Sensations where he basically tells stories, one about riding his Harley over to PA via the Delaware Water Gap (Lou was living in rural NJ earthquake country at the time). He loved that bike so much he could kiss her....

For the record: "I took my GPZ out for a ride The engine felt good between my thighs. The air felt cool, it was 40 degrees outside. I rode to Pennsylvania near the Delaware Gap Sometimes I got lost and had to check the map. I stopped at a roadside diner for a burger and a coke. There were some country folk and some hunters inside. Somebody got themselves married and somebody died I went to the jukebox and played a hillbilly song. They was arguing about football as I waved and went outside.

Just read the new Robyn Hitchcock memoir installation. Great way w words as always. Loved that last (first) one as well. First one from a couple years back takes Robyn up through the school years (think Beatles, Dylan, Floyd all blowing up). This latest one takes him through the 70s as the Soft Boys stake their claims while the neighbours complain. Love his ability to just sculpt away with thoughts letters words etc
