You know, Keith Richards has had the best answer to that question. He's pointed out that the Stones' blues heroes ~ Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf, John Lee Hooker, Little Richard, et al ~ were still vital and hittin' it hard in their sixties, seventies and beyond.

OK, Little Richard was more r&b and early rock/pop , but ...

@Richard, you're never too old, true, but I can tell you from personal experience, getting older has costs when your hands and back are not entirely cool with hanging out for the ride. God bless them for the dealing with it ad marching on. For, I might add a lot of money, they don't need at all.

There a lot of new bands that sounded influenced by Mark Knopler. Im ending with another one, too.

Knopler had a sound. Variation on a theme is sometimes is even better than the original source. People sure do bring out things that just fill some of the possibilities really well.
