Good morning SP!
Bike R 10:08:45 AM
Love a good jeans jacket! And there are even ads for men wearing one with jean pants, if you can believe it ;)
Stitching Pink (host) 10:10:11 AM
I can! Jeans are everywhere!
Emily Borowski 10:16:48 AM
what a dreamy set so far

Amy Lee 10:23:15 AM
Good morning Stitching Pink! Been thinking about the jean jacket in general since last weeks mention.
Stitching Pink (host) 10:24:07 AM
Lots of jean jacket info coming your way this morning!
TAndy 10:29:30 AM
You know it's been on my mind for a while, but I would love to see denim jackets make a comeback. One of those would have been perfect for how mild May and most of June was!
Stitching Pink (host) 10:38:07 AM
Jean jackets definitely come in and out of style but for sure there are lots of them in stores these days!
TAndy 10:40:20 AM
I'm def gonna find one for me, I've had enough of hoodies for now
Bike R 10:40:41 AM
Jean jackets are perfect for mild temps. They are really the perfect jacket, casual but can be kind of dressy too
Stitching Pink (host) 10:42:04 AM
100% agree! A dark rinse jacket can go anywhere! Bing Crosby famously had a tuxedo made out of denim after he was refused entry while wearing a dark rinse jeans jacket.
Stitching Pink (host) 10:42:17 AM
The jacket was not deemed dressy enough
Bryon Mollica 10:44:54 AM
Thanks for the achingly beautiful Eddie Marcon
Stitching Pink (host) 10:46:22 AM
that is the perfect description
Space Cowboy 10:46:31 AM
@ tandy Jean jackets are waaaaay cooler then a hiodie
Space Cowboy 10:46:43 AM

Amy Lee 10:48:52 AM
My fav jean jackets are more of a duck cotten or canvas material(?) - one leopard print & another is a 'coat of many colors' w/an olive/chartreuse base w/various floral strips/patches & embroidery adorning it.
Stitching Pink (host) 10:49:47 AM
both sound amazing!
michael gudgeon 10:56:18 AM
that was nice

This is great! And so true of our cat overlords.
Stitching Pink (host) 11:14:08 AM
Our cat definitely wears the pants in our family!
Dale Hazelton 11:15:09 AM
hello. nice to catch your show.
Stitching Pink (host) 11:15:48 AM
Glad you are here!
Dale Hazelton 11:16:42 AM
i just sold my favorite jean jacket on my wife's vinted page. it was a 1990ish doube RL hickory stripe. just too big for me today. it went for some really good money as all that vintage looking workwear is hot.
Stitching Pink (host) 11:17:20 AM
agree! I am definitely digging through my husband's closet
Dale Hazelton 11:17:34 AM
i have a 70s wrangler up there at the moment too.
Stitching Pink (host) 11:20:17 AM
are they on ebay?
Dale Hazelton 11:24:45 AM
no, vinted. you pay no fees or shipping costs. my wife has made about a grand so far selling some of her old goth club wear from the 90s.
Stitching Pink (host) 11:25:44 AM
That is awesome!
Dale Hazelton 11:27:18 AM
i tried poshmark once and they take a good sized cut too. vinted is the way to go.
Amy Lee 11:27:45 AM
When I was selling on ebay 20+ yrs ago, my first intl sale was to Japan - a 70's Lee jean jacket. I'm reacquainting myself to prep for selling online again - sooo much has changed since I stopped 15yrs ago.
Stitching Pink (host) 11:28:20 AM
I've been destashing vintage needlepoint canvases. amazing what sells!
Dale Hazelton 11:29:35 AM
i got offered half the asking price on this and was more than happy. i think i got it at filene's basement for not much money.
Dale Hazelton 11:29:40 AM

Stitching Pink (host) 11:30:22 AM
holy smokes!
Amy Lee 11:30:28 AM
@Dale - good to hear real experience.
Dale Hazelton 11:32:05 AM
amy lee, you'll be amazed at the price of vintage denim now. i was in a vintage shop in beacon ny and saw a pair of used carhartt painters bib overalls priced at $135. i have two pair in my closet from my housepainting days.
Dale Hazelton 11:37:08 AM
i think their 1969 line came out around 2000.
Stitching Pink (host) 11:41:12 AM
My mother worked at RL in the 80s. she is sitting on a gold mine
Stitching Pink (host) 11:42:07 AM
I've been wearing my husband's old carharts from his painting days while gardening!
Dale Hazelton 11:43:52 AM
good for her. she could have some nice play money.
Amy Lee 11:44:23 AM
Thanks SP for the posting the how-to link.
Dale Hazelton 11:45:12 AM
friend of mine worked at ralph lauren in the late 80s and he said they would buy vintage workwear and just deconstruct it and make patterns directly from the old pieces.
Stitching Pink (host) 11:45:16 AM
It's a really good tutorial.
Stitching Pink (host) 11:45:24 AM
yup
Stitching Pink (host) 11:45:53 AM
The NYers would come to OKC and buy all sorts of vintage western wear. and decorate the stores with it
Stitching Pink (host) 11:50:03 AM
In the mid-80s he was making clothes out of old quilts which caused a whole uproar. And they were really expensive even back then. The skirts were maybe $1000 each. She doesn't have one of those. lol
Dale Hazelton 11:52:39 AM
i can see people getting bummed out over that.
Dale Hazelton 11:53:07 AM
it's like making a lamp shade out of a folk art canvas.
Stitching Pink (host) 11:53:10 AM
It's happening again and also controversial.
Stitching Pink (host) 11:53:33 AM
But at the same time a lot of these items end up in landfills.

TAndy 11:55:53 AM
Thanks so much for the show SP! Definitely gonna look for a nice denim jacket online once I'm finished with my chores :)
Stitching Pink (host) 11:56:37 AM
perfect! I look forward to a report next week!
Dale Hazelton 11:56:51 AM
that whole outfit is very museum of folk art. thanks for the conversation and music.
Stitching Pink (host) 11:57:03 AM
*my mom owns that sweater!
Stitching Pink (host) 11:57:29 AM
Thanks for listening! I've learned a lot today!
TAndy 12:00:13 PM
I'll be abroad, but if I find something I WILL report about it when I return ;)
