Enjoying the show, as always. And as always I'm grateful to 'PRB for turning me on to great new music. Julia Jacklin's "Get Away From Me (I Think I'll Love You Soon)" has the makings of a real country-rock classic.

Ha I recently rediscovered those iron on repair patches like my mom used to use all my old Toughskins when I was like 10. I’m getting extra life out of my old beat up jeans with these patches, though I blow out out knees all the time.

Pretty much everything I do in life or many of things I do in life is “landfill aversion“.

My grandfather had a store in Ohio selling jeans to the farmers in the late 1940's through the 50's - He sold the store and got out of the jeans business just before the denim explosion in the 60's. He sold overalls, He would've been wealthy had he hung in there a few more years.

I love jeans, I'm a stickler for good jeans. I am a cowboy at heart, and I feel the western spirit. I always go hiking in jeans, even in 100 degree weather. Its good for keeping away all sorts of bugs, thorns and undesirable affects.

I have become less of a denim purist and now will buy stretchy jeans but only a little stretchy - not crazy stretchy

they do, however, offer jean fitting services to find your perfect fit and you don't have to buy the expensive jeans

I am so kicking myself that I got rid of mine. If for no other reason to sell and make some money

@Rob there is just a special something about a button fly. the zipper is ok, but just a zipper....

I have bought new in a while. But I have a stock pile of thrift store finds. But they were all bought before thrift stores became kind of trendy or whatever you wanna call it now. I haven’t found good Levi’s or wranglers in a thrift store in years.

I’ve had that song on my head since this whole conversation started. Some people just know it as the Keith Urban cover. I’d like to hear the original got some cheesy electric piano. Can’t go wrong with that.

Someone mentioned Huskies from Sears. I hated that I had to shop in that section of the store. It was the reason I had no girlfriends. Not the little belly I had... It was the Friggin' Husky jeans that scared them away.

Keith Urban’s version is pretty good too actually. Probably better to be honest. But I always like originals.

My husband talks about those too and it makes me so sad that we made kids feel that way about themselves

I mentioned Toughskins earlier. In the 70s, probably even the 60s but in the 70s if you were a kid that’s what you were wearing. They came in all different colors but I just had the blue ones. Got my first Levi’s in seventh grade. I was grown up then. Or so I thought.

I'm thrifty & frugal (not cheap - there's a difference). The one & only time I bought brand new full retail priced Levis was for a date in 2008 w/someone I had just met & was pretty excited about. That date & I eventually married & are still going strong.

Re: Blue jeans history, it's my understanding that when tailor Jacob W. Davis employed rivets (and not just stitching) to strengthen miners' pants and dry goods store owner Levi Strauss marketed them, it was a landmark. Prior to that, there wasn't anywhere near today's differentiation between work clothes and regular clothes.

If you've ever watched any of the TV adaptations of the All Creatures Great and Small books, which are very authentic to Britain in the 1930 and '40s, the farmhands are wearing regular pants with matching jackets (although they remove the jackets during hard labor). Work clothes are in some ways a very modern category.

Well, it does provide good conversation! I honestly can't remember, he does though. I'll have to get back to you on that. We have yet to see a movie in a theater together! Though, upcoming re-release of the Fifth Element looks promising.

i love the look of jeans but i think i struggle finding the perfect inseam size for myself... that doesn't hurt when I sit for long periods of time at work

Madwell has nice jeans these days. Lots of styles. I also think for work Emily you might want to check out Lauren by RL jeans. they are a little lighter denim with some stretch

@Emily - I also experience that, however, I have found some 'fashion' brands that while not true denim, have jean fabric blends that work well - I do well w/Gloria Vanderbilt.

Democracy jeans also have some fabric that is more comfortable.
