Patrick White 12:12:28 PM
Shoutout to Steve Bernstein for his Charlie Parker jazz festival appearances including last year in Harlems bucolic Marcus Garvey Park .
Patrick White 12:13:25 PM
I think Jerry tried to delete my lunatic spinitron ramblings but accidentally deleted everyone.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:13:30 PM
Hey Patrick! Did you and Rick watch the Phillies 9th inning last night?
rick hallahan 12:13:56 PM
Patrick, I thought I was in a new Twilight Zone episode.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:14:34 PM
I don't know if you did Christine, but the Phillies have won the last three games in a row with home runs in the ninth.
rick hallahan 12:14:43 PM

Hi Patrick 🎭
Patrick White 12:16:01 PM
I hope everyone enjoys this Phillies season. Looks like no baseball in 2027 due to labor/ management issues.
Patrick White 12:16:17 PM
Greetings Christine.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:17:00 PM
Can everybody see everybody's comments?
rick hallahan 12:17:09 PM
Patrick, I agree. It sure doesn't look good.for 2027.
Patrick White 12:17:51 PM
Jerry I sent the Nationals video of 13 year old me pitching a complete game 3 hitter. They called and asked when I can start pitching for them .
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:18:38 PM
They could definitely use you, Rick, Mike, and especially Christine.
rick hallahan 12:18:53 PM
Hahaha!
Patrick White 12:20:30 PM
Shout out to Cuckoo listeners and El Jefe Gordon for tolerating my ramblings. I got booted off an another spillitron for not talking about music. Humorless prigs
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:26:32 PM

Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:28:09 PM
I've really enjoyed baseball these last three nights, not turnning the game on until the ninth inning
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:28:36 PM

Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:36:43 PM
I agree, Rick, this is really great.
Patrick White 12:39:28 PM
Who would win a fight between a Dybuk and a Golem?
Christine 𓅓𓅥 𓅊 12:41:13 PM
@Patrick, really?! That seems narrow-minded. It is called a "chat" after all.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:41:46 PM
That is a freaking fantastic question, Patrick. You are such a well informed man about town for a part time comedian.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:42:10 PM
You calling me a Golem?
Patrick White 12:45:32 PM
Shout out to my World Cup MVP. The gentleman who dresses up like Patrice Lumumba and stands still like a statue the entire match. How can you not root for the Democratic Republic of CONGO
Patrick White 12:51:46 PM
Phillies facing NY Mets tonight with their brand new Manager…… Mr. MET
rick hallahan 12:57:11 PM
The Mets will either come out with a vengeance tonight or continue their rapid descent into the abyss. There will be no middle ground IMHO.
Christine 𓅓𓅥 𓅊 12:58:00 PM
Solar Myth ☀️ 🌌 Nice.
Anthony B. Creamer III 12:59:55 PM
Thanks for Steven B promo! See ya Tuesday.
rick hallahan 1:01:45 PM
Martin Denny's music always was interesting to me when I was a kid.
Patrick White 1:09:21 PM
Martin Denny music great Rick but I was always more of a Frankie Trumbauer kid
rick hallahan 1:12:39 PM
I'm diggin' this vibe.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 1:13:56 PM
Rick, you like all the good stuff.
Patrick White 1:22:04 PM
Good Afternoon Sir Are you interested in a subscription to the Philadelphia Inquirer??
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 1:24:03 PM
Haha. Maybe digitally.
Christine 𓅓𓅥 𓅊 1:25:28 PM
How about an Evening Bulletin subscription? 🗞
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 1:26:58 PM
That would be better
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 1:27:52 PM
My father got 3 papers delivered, the Inquirer, the Bulletin, and the Daily Times (Delco)
Mike Constantine 1:29:23 PM
In the comic section of the Bulletin was a column called Ask Andy where kis could ask science questions and if selected, receive a book. Bastard never answered any of my questions.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 1:31:08 PM
I think I remember. What a jerk! Disappointing!
Mike Constantine 1:32:02 PM
I was not pleased.
Richard of Rocky Hill 1:32:17 PM
Get ready~there's a bluegrass and "Buddy Bolten's Blues" connection. Yep! Earl Scruggs, who perfected and popularized the North Carolina style of syncopated 5-string banjo picking, loved early New Orleans jazz. In his tour-de-force instrumental "Flint Hill Special" in first banjo variation after the fiddle break, Earl musically quotes the melody that's under "Funky butt, stinky butt, take it away!" in the original. He's playing it about 5X faster but it's definitely there as an in-joke & homage
Christine 𓅓𓅥 𓅊 1:33:10 PM
@Mike, I'm angered on your behalf.
Mike Constantine 1:34:07 PM
Right? 60 some years later and I still don't have answers!
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 1:34:30 PM
How fun and brilliant! When is your book coming out, Richard? That is some way deep knowledge!
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 1:35:27 PM
But remember, Mike, you kept asking questions about the birds and the bees
Patrick White 1:35:50 PM
Mike you would have been better off writing to Mr. Fix It in the Inquirer. That guy was awesome
Mike Constantine 1:35:58 PM
I still am!
Richard of Rocky Hill 1:36:21 PM
The person who drew my attention to this was none other than the late, great Bill Keith, a Scruggs admirer who did the same for fiddle-style, straight melody line banjo picking as Earl did for the one-melody note with 2 or 3 accompanying rhythm notes pattern we now call "Scruggs picking."
Mike Constantine 1:36:47 PM

Patrick White 1:41:21 PM
ACTION LINE WAS NY Daily News. Ask Asa was WNYC radio
Richard of Rocky Hill 1:42:37 PM
@ Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) Thanks for the kind words, Jerry. One final bit of little-known bluegrass banjo history that you & other early jazz aficionados will appreciate: Most people assume that such popular Earl Scruggs banjo tunes as "Bugle Call Rag" and "Farewell Blues" were Earl compositions. As you may recognize, they're New Orleans early jazz & Dixieland band classics.
Patrick White 1:43:29 PM
Phil Sheridan used to help people on 560 WFIL AM
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 1:44:13 PM
Hahahahahaha
Patrick White 1:44:36 PM
Thanks for all the info Richard but now you have me missing John Weingarts program
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 1:45:14 PM
I may or may not remember that Phil Sheridan
Mike Constantine 1:45:48 PM
Uncle Phil
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 1:47:11 PM
that Phil Sheridan did that.
Patrick White 1:48:09 PM
Poor guy had to do the weather after John Facenda. Tough act to follow
Mike Constantine 1:49:00 PM
We were a Gunner Back house
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 1:49:19 PM
Your humor is getting out of control
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 1:50:12 PM
Didn't Gunner Back have a weird white wave in his hair or was that John Facenda?
rick hallahan 1:50:57 PM
Don't forget Wally Kinan the weatherman.
Richard of Rocky Hill 1:51:03 PM
@ Patrick White Haha! Sorry!! I totally miss John's show, too. BUT ... he deserves his summer vacations and will return with the outstanding folk/Americana mélange for which he's celebrated ... and meantime, the subbing hosts are doing superb jobs.
Mike Constantine 1:51:30 PM
That was Gunnar Back
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 1:51:37 PM
Hahahahahahaha
Patrick White 1:51:53 PM
There was nothing ever weird about John Facenda!
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 1:52:09 PM
I had. If not for you, I may have not heard that name again in this lifetime
rick hallahan 1:52:42 PM
John Facenda's voice on NFL Films was epic.
Mike Constantine 1:53:08 PM

David Shortell 2:06:53 PM
I haven’t heard from Laurie Anderson since 2015 when Asbury Park’s Showroom Cinema screened her documentary “Heart of a Dog” (unrelated to the Mikhail Bulgakov novella about a stray cur subject to a Moreau-like experiment that makes him humanoid).
Mike Constantine 2:07:22 PM
And of course LOVE-222

Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 2:34:23 PM
Oh yes!
Russell Woessner 2:34:43 PM
I saw Jim Croce when he was the opening act for Randy Newman at the Main Point in Bryn Mawr. Shortly before Don't Mess Around with Jim was released. I thought he had potential.
