By an incredible coincidence, the American Dennis the Menace and the British Dennis the Menace debuted on the same date (March 12, 1951)! Both characters were mischievous boys with slingshots. Blonde-haired USA Dennis (in King Features Syndicate newspaper strips) had a dog named Ruff. Dark-haired UK Dennis (in Beano magazine) had a dog named Gnasher.
