Pool lounging isn't just the couch potato thing a lot of people think. When we were having those heat waves I would wait until the temperature would get up to over 100°, 110° heat index, sit out on the back deck gritting my teeth cowering in the shade until I could take it no more and had to plunge in the pool

yeah thats the rough part when it gets that hot--- but ill stil take that ober winter- man this winter hot me hard- it she shoveling the car out after work in the fold and ice--- yeeeesh no way sucks -0 im a summer guy definitely

It was like an endurance test but a fun one

yeah and once your in the water-- tis all good

My buddy lives in Asbury Park and all the spoom that comes in from the beach combines with the snow and it froze his car in so deep it took him 3 days to dig it out

man i checked the stone pony schdule for the summer and it was mostly cover band - what the hel is going on

from what i remember ocean blue was the only original band - and they are like 35 years ago on old - but good ninteis band - but man that was a bit agao

I haven't been there in a while since Southside Johnny on the outside stage and saw Nicole Atkins a few times inside. Oh yeah the reubenous you know who that is...

Wprb is so Philadelphia- centric I wonder why sometimes The DJs don't look around the New Jersey area.

There are shows at White Eagle in Jersey City that are stunning. I saw Roki Anderson there, Robin Hitchcock, Jonathan Richmond which is one of the greatest shows I ever saw

2 weeks from now I'm seeing camera obscure there and Robin Hitchcock with a full electric band for the first time in years next month

Yeah Philadelphia centric which I guess is the vibe. Seems most DJs are Philly based, Lisbot etc

Jonathan Richmond was so good it was like a spiritual event, asked for nobody to use cameras or record,, we had to be in the moment it was like a religious experience like seeing Brian Wilson

welp if he ever comes around again ill have to make a note and go see him -- i missed so many friggin shows last summer by not noticing who was coming - black moth super rainbow-- missed and flaming lips - missed BOTH!

I was a major flaming lips fan, first saw them in 1984 or so when they were a real shit band played at Rutgers September freshman weekend welcome or something.

yeah they kinda blossomed - did you ever see thier movie fearless freaks- they came from friggin oklahoma

God did they suck horribly we thought it was a joke!

I saw the noodling video about catching catfish ing underwater caves

But I love their mid-. Stuff clouds taste metallics satellite heart etc, priest-driven ambulance I got to do later and it's fantastic. Yoshimi great, have all the EPS and stuff from that time they were just wonderful.

But when I went to see them I was so disappointed

We saw them in Montclair, Wayne was probably on cocaine cuz he never shut up, we did some mushroom bars hoping to have a good experience and it was like flaming lips light

Clap along, when he invited people up on stage it was all these high school kids that were like me first me first, the music was secondary to the spectacle he was trying to engender

man i went to see themand had the oppisite ration -saw them onteh soft bulletin tour and one other tour and it blew my friggin mind best concerts i wver wnet ot one of the best

I saw the lips in 2013 when their war with the mystics and Terror album or whatever were out, that's when I kind of lost interest in them

ill have to go see them again - and see what the vibe is --- but last time i saw - was deginaatly one of my best times-- i wore an old world wqar two over coat - to the show and it smellled like 1942 - but was worht it

well this jacket had that old smell - i dunno but i know when iduck my head in aan old car firn that era it had that same smeell- lol

I think that smelling the old cars is because they used to use straw as the cushioning under the seats

I was always getting sick when we went for car rides of more than a half hour, my mother used to keep Dramamine in her pocketbook to give to me in the backseat

could be -- they seem to have a certain smell when i check out the interior of those old cars

We found out that they used straw because a friend of mine that had an old Volkswagen, 1965, that we took to the Capitol theater to see the Grateful Dead in 1973 or 4 or so, The lid end of a joint went into the back seat started a fire filled the car with smoke we had to pull over rip the seat out when we pulled the cover off it was filled with straw

Well Google just told me it wasn't straw, it was coconut fibers or actually matted Corsair. How about that we just thought it was straw and it was much more exotic

Boy those old blues guys were great, I don't like the BB King and newer blues guys

I heard a John Lee Hooker cut today either on prb or one of the New York stations, boy he was distorting that guitar and just slamming it for sounds like an avant-garde musician

yeah i have a few old blues songs that led zepp copped without rediting the originals blues guys - i think they did credit them later when the got called on it

Supposedly feedback wasn't used on a recording until the Beatles did it with I feel fine

My feelings on cream are very conflicted. I love Jack Bruce! When I was a kid in 1968 or so, the older guys had buttons that said Clapton is God. I assumed everything I was hearing was Eric Clapton when it was Jack Bruce singing and writing most of the original songs while Eric Clapton just ripped off a lot of old black guys for his blues copies

And cream could jam and cook until they hit a certain level and then shut it off, where I found bands like the Grateful Dead and Miles Davis could hit that level and take it miles Beyond

yeah - i really like cream - but there jams neer worked for me - i wanted to like them -- but like the side long spoonful couldnt hold my attenion -- gotta have more gooing om then jsut jamming mix it up er someithing

some o it worked - but spoone ful jam just needed more to it some tempo changes er something if your hnna do twney minutes

Yeah spoonful is too damn slow, I'm not a fan of really slow blues songs original or copies. at least crosswords kicks ass

I still think Jack Bruce is way overlooked he wrote their best stuff, sang just about all of it, and when you say cream people think of Eric Clapton and that crazy drummer

I was a big fan of mountain also, mainly for Felix papillardi's influence.

They pretty much hated each other from the beginning. Ginger Baker never liked anybody, and Clapton was jealous of Jack Bruce from step one

yeah a guy made a documentary and ginger punched the guy in the nose

One of our local Urban hippie Legends when we were little kids listening to our older brothers was Ginger Baker used speed to be able to drum that good, and that's why he was so skinny and his face was so hollow
