@Liz Bot, funny you mentioned an alumni DJ who is in Asheville now. I was just there for reHappening, a festival put on by Black Mountain. They have a history with Robert Moog and John Cage.

My understanding is that Greg intentionally sought out 103.3 for that station, too. The power of WPRB!

@Andy Wing - Sounds fun! When my kid is off to college in a year I plan to hit up so many more festivals! I did get to some of Bang On a Can’s Longplay Festival in Brooklyn this past weekend. Saw Trevor Dunn’s Trio Convulsant with Mary Halvorson AND Robert Wilson’s final opera, a German Expressionist interpretation of Moby Dick, back to back on Sunday and at Roulette and BAM respectively, within a couple blocks of each other! Not a bad day!

@Andy Wing - I plan to get to Big Ears, Bang on a Can Longplay AND Bang On a Can’s Loud Weekend at MassMOCA, which I never have time for normally, in a couple of years! 2028 will be my year! Normally I can only get to the NYC Fests

103.3 also happens to be the temporary radio station for Lakes of Fire, a Michigan regional Burning Man event, "Lakes Radio". I gifted them a WPRB swag t-shirt and button a few years ago.

Yeah, Big Ears is the one I really want to get to. Knoxville is just down the road, but the timing has never worked out. Hopefully it's still going in 8 years when my kid is off to college...

I've to Mass MOCA for a regular visit a few years ago, loved it. Looks like Loud Weekend is the last weekend in July which I can't do, ironically due to Burning Man related activities. I am, however, trying to talk up a road trip for more Philly Burners to reHappening next year.

@Dan Ruccia - I have a friend in Knoxville I could visit, but it’s of course more of a trek for me to get there in the first place! I always wanted to get to this ProgFest in France and dreamed of doing it when the kid was outta the house, but alas, it never resumed after the pandemic!

Yeah, there's a kinda random tape that plays along with the piece with some random ambient sounds from around Mackey's early 90s house

It pairs well with the 9 pm station ID you played, which sounded like a sequel to ye olde Barking Hound ID, or whatever it was called , from the 90s!

Just got back to Philly, enjoyed Angine into Naná Rizinni with hound ID in between on the drive. From whence came that ID? I don’t think I’ve heard it before!

I actually made that one at some point during covid DJ from home. I should really make sure it finds its way to the rest of the station
