Sung by Pete Townshend, with the only instrumentation being Townshend on ukulele and John Entwistle playing horns. A group version of the song was recorded, but the recording was apparently lost. Greetings!
Lizbot (host) 5:00:53 PM
Hello Hello!
Lizbot (host) 5:01:01 PM
Hi Number 6!
Number 6 5:01:37 PM
Back to a semblance of normalcy.
Rob from Maryland 🦀 5:01:57 PM
Howdy Lizbot & Number 6!
Number 6 5:02:48 PM
Hi RFM and Lizbot!
Rob from Maryland 🦀 5:03:15 PM
@Lizbot, catbirds are increasing in numbers. The best birds though were in the local park. I heard an Ovenbird singing (teacher Teacher TEACHER), my wife saw it. And she heard a Nashville Warbler singing
Zach 5:03:37 PM
Double plus leftovers!

Hi Rob from Maryland 🦀!!
Lizbot (host) 5:04:39 PM
@Number 6 - Define "normal"
Zach 5:04:49 PM
Got any songs about colors of the moon? Theme show double whammy
Lizbot (host) 5:04:49 PM
Hi Zach 🌈💃🏽🦑🎶!!
Lizbot (host) 5:05:25 PM
@Zach 🌈💃🏽🦑🎶 - I did have one last week!: "The Moon Is Blue" by Colourbox!
Number 6 5:05:42 PM
Ha, not your normal radio estacion!
Lizbot (host) 5:06:17 PM
@Rob from Maryland 🦀 - I feel like an ovenbird when the studio gets a bit too toasty!
Lizbot (host) 5:06:33 PM
@Number 6 - And thank goodness for that!
Lizbot (host) 5:07:00 PM
@Rob from Maryland 🦀 - I like ovenbird's little shock of orange on its crest!
Number 6 5:07:10 PM
They're hopefully going to get a window unit in there soon.
Lizbot (host) 5:07:34 PM
@Number 6 - Fingers crossed!
Rob from Maryland 🦀 5:07:53 PM
They are cute with that orange. And, hopefully it's not toasty in the studio this afternoon
Lizbot (host) 5:11:22 PM
@Rob from Maryland 🦀 - Not too shabby in the studio today! Its gorgeous in Princeton today, and the sun just came out after a couple very rainy days! Just toastier in the studio than outside, but definitely livable today! We had that crazy heatwave two weeks ago during which Readie & I roasted!
Lizbot (host) 5:12:30 PM
@Rob from Maryland 🦀 - I see by the photos the ovenbird frequents Massachusetts - Just spent a week in Northampton and Boston back in late March and weirdly saw almost no birds. It was eerie, especially in Western Mass!
SV In Like Flynn 5:12:30 PM
Hi Lizbot and chatters, my new chat name. Streaming from my very cool 1st floor, usually listen to FM on warm and toasty winter 3rd floor.
Number 6 5:12:50 PM
I thought that an ovenbird was a turkey.
SV In Like Flynn 5:13:15 PM
Oh no, it was suppose to be another name.
Lizbot (host) 5:14:59 PM
Hi SV In Like Flynn! haha, no worries! You can probably still change it!
Lizbot (host) 5:15:54 PM
@SV In Like Flynn - Yeah, I'm in the warmer 2nd fl iteration of this studio, where A/C dare not go!
Rob from Maryland 🦀 5:20:07 PM
@Lizbot, sun :-) heat :-(
Number 6 5:20:46 PM
And there's a lot of noise outside sometimes, so opening the windows isn't an option
Rob from Maryland 🦀 5:21:11 PM
@Lizbot, that is a bit eerie. We've been there in mid March and saw a Peregrine Falcon attack a Common Raven (or vice versa) over a reservoir. So there can be birds there
Lizbot (host) 5:23:25 PM
@Rob from Maryland 🦀 - Sounds bloody! Reminds me of how I watched a grisly scene of an osprey ripping apart a seagull on the end of dock while I was just relaxing watching the Barnegat Bay a couple summers ago!
Lizbot (host) 5:24:18 PM
@Number 6 - Yes! Outdoor noise sure was loud last week, but today most people left for the day, so it's fairly calm so far!
Lizbot (host) 5:25:03 PM
@Rob from Maryland 🦀 - Yeah, i was in Northampton the summer of 2021 and there were birds. I was in a more green area with more parks nearby this time and saw no birds! So odd
Rob from Maryland 🦀 5:25:55 PM
@Lizbot, the raven/falcon thing wasn't bloody. They were just harassing each other (so actually not attacking)
Rob from Maryland 🦀 5:27:18 PM
We were in Amherst twice in May and the migrating birds (and emerging mayflies) were really nice
SV In Like Flynn 5:30:07 PM
My new osprey friend that perches 30 feet from my boat, stay off my mast bird! https://www.flickr.com/photos/65258891@N00/55241033741/in/dateposted-public/
Rob from Maryland 🦀 5:32:53 PM
@SVILF, tres cool!!
Lizbot (host) 5:33:23 PM
This song: "Red Robin bobbing along, chirping and chirping on the green grass of spring still wet with winter's rain" could be the scene outside the studio window right now on this gorgeous final day of April!
Lizbot (host) 5:34:05 PM
Love these strings
Lizbot (host) 5:34:55 PM
@SV In Like Flynn - Oooh, he's watching you! Nice photo!
addie 🐍🐍🐍 plum 5:36:48 PM
Hi all! @Rob we had an ovenbird in the library yesterday!
Lizbot (host) 5:37:02 PM
@SV In Like Flynn - I got a front-row seat to a lot of osprey comings and goings in the summer at the place I stay in LBI because its on the bayside, right next to an osprey nesting box. When a my father-in-law comes by, he cuts the engine and we sidle up to a closer vantage point to see the babies once they've hatched!
Lizbot (host) 5:37:14 PM
Hi addie 🐍🐍🐍 plum!!
Lizbot (host) 5:38:17 PM
@addie 🐍🐍🐍 plum - Nice!! BTW, I WISH I could have gotten to West Craft Fest last Sunday! Saturday was so wet, and I thought Sunday would be too, but it got downright sunny and gorgeous those last 2 or 3 hours of the fest!
addie 🐍🐍🐍 plum 5:40:04 PM
@Lizbot I was so burnt out I stayed home actually. Seems like they had a great turnout though, a vendor I know had their best event ever!
Rob from Maryland 🦀 5:41:30 PM
@addie, wow! what books did it check out?
Rob from Maryland 🦀 5:42:40 PM
@lizbot, that's great that you get close to those ospreys
Lizbot (host) 5:42:48 PM
@addie 🐍🐍🐍 plum - Wow, nice! I think ppl really were itching to get outside after the rainy first half of the weekend.
Lizbot (host) 5:43:16 PM
@addie 🐍🐍🐍 plum - I was pretty overwhelmed with other things last weekend, but then I saw the photos on the West CF page and was wishing I was there!
Lizbot (host) 5:44:55 PM
@Rob from Maryland 🦀 - It's so nice having the bay right there. I love to just sit still reading and watching egrets and ospreys. A LOT of snowy egrets drop by to hunt for food
Lizbot (host) 5:45:27 PM
@Rob from Maryland 🦀 - And by "hunt" i mean stand aroudn in the shallows of the bay and zoom close overhead
Lizbot (host) 5:47:10 PM
@Rob from Maryland 🦀 - We also see a lot of tiny sparrows skimming the fresh water nearby
Rob from Maryland 🦀 5:49:24 PM
@lizbot, i love watching herons and egrets hunt. i wonder what those sparrows are
Lizbot (host) 5:51:44 PM
@Rob from Maryland 🦀 - I don't know but they're tiny and they dip rapidly and skim the surface of a nearby pool over and over, I guess drinking it
Lizbot (host) 5:53:55 PM
@Rob from Maryland 🦀 - When Hattie was little, we rented a little cabin in the very remote Little Gasparilla Island in Florida - a roadless, store-less tiny place with old cabins - and I have never seen so many varieties of herons in my life, including massive great grey herons...maybe one was a goliath heron? I'll have to find my photos!
addie 🐍🐍🐍 plum 5:56:11 PM
@Rob my colleague captured the lil fella before he could browse the stacks.
Rob from Maryland 🦀 5:57:43 PM
@Lizbot, could those skimming birds be Chimney Swifts?
Rob from Maryland 🦀 5:59:04 PM
@Lizbot, those herons were surely all Great Blue Heron; Goliath Heron is only found in African and Asia
Lizbot (host) 5:59:28 PM
@Rob from Maryland 🦀 - You're probably right! I see chimney swifts dipping around over the tower of a nearby elementary school in Philly, but I'm not used to seeing them up close!
Rob from Maryland 🦀 6:00:10 PM
@addie, maybe when the Ovenbird gets a library card it can browse the stacks?
Rob from Maryland 🦀 6:01:28 PM
@Lizbot, it was odd the first time or two I saw Chimney Swifts skimming the pond in a local park. I love watching them do that
Rob from Maryland 🦀 6:01:44 PM
RIP Gregg Foreman
Rob from Maryland 🦀 6:05:58 PM
That Cat Power song was lovely!
Lizbot (host) 6:10:01 PM
@Rob from Maryland 🦀 - Yeah RIP Gregg. I was a live club DJ with a recurring DJ night called "Girl Gone Feral" at Silk City in the early 2000s Philly when Gregg DJ'd his recurring night, The Turnaround. So many memories of nights spent with him spinning, running into friends and even my cousins. He was a big part of that late 90s/early 2000s 60s soul revival
Lizbot (host) 6:11:28 PM
@Rob from Maryland 🦀 - I'm glad you enjoyed The Color and The Kids. I love that song but I can rarely play it because it always gets to me! It's so intense and beautiful. i remember walking to the train and walking aimlessly around my neighborhood listening to that Moon Pix album when it first came out and that song was my favorite
Roy Cole 6:20:09 PM
Just got home in Medford from Surfing in Holgate. Walked in and saw our 1st Red Headed Woodpecker. Such striking contrast with the black white and red!
Roy Cole 6:22:20 PM

Hi Roy Cole!
Roy Cole 6:23:48 PM
You inspire Liz!
Lizbot (host) 6:24:06 PM
@Roy Cole - Re: the set - Aw, Thanks!
Lizbot (host) 6:25:47 PM
@Roy Cole - Re: Holgate - The closest I've gotten to LBI so far this year is the Pine Barrens a couple weeks ago, Went to Whitesbog Village and walked the dog along the bogs there. Near the end of the walk, i think i heard a woodpecker. Saw one in the Wissahickon recently too!
Lizbot (host) 6:26:12 PM
@Roy Cole - Holgate - Famous for being where Ween recorded "The Mollusk"!
Roy Cole 6:33:50 PM
An incredible place. My wife n I collect slag glass in the pine barrons! Such a dynamic place to discover all kinds of natural beauty.
Roy Cole 6:35:57 PM
There is a great band in philly called Pine Barons. They are amazing. Check them out. Frantic Francis would be a good place to start!
Lizbot (host) 6:39:08 PM
@Roy Cole - The Pine Barons is a great name! Never encountered it before! My old boss was in a Philly band called The Strapping Fieldhands and that had a song called "In the Pineys" that I'm fond of
Randy Marthins 6:40:29 PM
Blue Red & Grey was on my Morning Run Warmup playlist for a while "it's 5AM somewhere"
Randy Marthins 6:41:20 PM
I discovered a band called BurntMill Ghosts from "Central Jersey"
Randy Marthins 6:41:56 PM
I run by Burnt Mill Road, where the Atco Ghost "resides"
Lizbot (host) 6:42:14 PM
@Roy Cole - If you haven't already seen it, you might enjoy the documentary "The Pine Barrens" by David Scott Kessler. I saw an early screening of it outside at dusk at Whitesbog's Village's stage with the Ruins of Friendship Orchestra playing a live score! Magical night! That was ages ago. My friend and Pineys conservationist Allen Crawford, (who has designed logos before for WPRB!,) is the narrator and main "character" so to speak
Lizbot (host) 6:42:22 PM
Hi Randy Marthins!
Lizbot (host) 6:43:58 PM
@Randy Marthins - haha, yeah, I had certain songs that were gentle that I could ease into my ealry morning with when I worked a very early morning job aand that one would fit the bill!
Randy Marthins 6:44:04 PM
Hi Lizbot & Co! - I'm working on a seascape for my daughters new apt when she moves over to PA & away from the beach
Randy Marthins 6:45:24 PM
Not my usual forté, but I've done some before with positive reviews
Roy Cole 6:49:04 PM
Will def look this up and watch. Thanks so much. So glad to be a part of this community. Thanks for sharing!
Rob from Maryland 🦀 6:49:58 PM
I liked the Red-tailed Hawk song
Lizbot (host) 6:53:12 PM
@Randy Marthins /@Roy Cole - I'm gonna have to make an all-Pineys playlist! I can add Burnt Mill Ghosts and The Pine Barons, as well as Ruins of Friendship Orchestra and "In the Pineys"
Lizbot (host) 6:54:51 PM
@Roy Cole - Glad to have you here! Definitely a well-researched doc with many years of work put into it. I think it really captures the feeling of being in the Pineys.
Lizbot (host) 6:55:31 PM
@Rob from Maryland 🦀 - I'm glad! I ended up with a few bird-themed songs that overlapped with the color theme today!
Lizbot (host) 6:57:06 PM
@Randy Marthins - That's so cool of you to paint a seascape for your daughter! How far into PA is she gonna be? If she's moving to the eastern side of the state, at least she won't be more than a couple hours drive form the shore!
Roy Cole 6:58:24 PM
Albert hall in Waretown is a must. So many wonderful musicians with tons of Pine Barrons history.
Lizbot (host) 7:03:40 PM
@Roy Cole - Oh wow, I gotta check that place out! My parents used to take me to the Batsto summer music festivals when I was a kid, and my mom & I would hit up the annual Cranberry Festival, which is the first place I remember ever encountering dulcimer music...and tart cranberry ice cream!
Randy Marthins 7:05:16 PM

@Randy Marthins - Oh yeah, I've been through Huntington Valley. Yeah, she wont have super far to go. Still, I guess nothing beats living right by the shore!

Lizbot (host) 7:08:48 PM
@Randy Marthins - Ah! Having grown up going to OCNJ, I was always vaguely annoyed by the existence of a SECOND Ocean City, even though that's of course silly and it's pretty much the most generic shore town name one could come up with! I get the impression OCMD is larger but maybe not older
Lizbot (host) 7:09:36 PM
@Randy Marthins - Oh nice!! That reeeally captures the feel and look of sitting on a beach chair watching the ocean! I want to be there!
Randy Marthins 7:13:07 PM
Thanks! It was taken from post-Labor Day early morning run on the beach
Lizbot (host) 7:14:08 PM

Lizbot (host) 7:24:44 PM
Hi Dale Hazelton!!
Lizbot (host) 7:25:37 PM
@Dale Hazelton - Glad you're digging it! Or as Donovan says "Dig the slowness"
SV In Like Flynn 7:26:42 PM
Just so happened to be driving last week and heard Long Red Light on WPRB and had a hunch it was Sparks! Loved it in a Phillip Glass kind of way! Gonna have to seek out the extended version.
Lizbot (host) 7:29:02 PM
@SV In Like Flynn - Yes, I love when Sparks does that slow layering build! Long Red Light is from Mad!, the most recent album, but they especially do the slow build repetition Philip Glass style songs on the Lil Beethoven album from 2002. I love My Baby's Taking Me Home from that album
Dale Hazelton 7:30:04 PM
this sounds like blancmange.
Dale Hazelton 7:30:24 PM
singer has the same vibe.
Lizbot (host) 7:32:53 PM
@Dale Hazelton - huh, okay I can see that. I wonder if they were an influence on Simple Minds. They were contemporaries
Lizbot (host) 7:34:10 PM
Speaking of dulcimer...!
Dale Hazelton 7:34:47 PM
google a.i. says "Both bands were influential in the era’s electronic music scene, with Blancmange (known for "Living on the Ceiling") often mentioned alongside Simple Minds' early, experimental work from the New Gold Dream era." there we have it.
Roy Cole 7:35:14 PM
Yes. Beautiful!!!😍
Rob from Maryland 🦀 7:35:38 PM
@Lizbot, imagine a Marylander being annoyed at finding out about a smaller Ocean City in New Jersey

Roy Cole 7:39:46 PM
Yes. Ive played them a few times.
Lizbot (host) 7:39:49 PM
@Rob from Maryland 🦀 - haha, yeah, I do not know how they roll (crab roll??) in Ocean City, Maryland, never been! But I assume it's like how Philadelphians sweat NYC while New Yorkers rarely give a thought to Philadelphia...although that's been changing in recent years as we're getting flooded with former New Yorkers looking for more affordable alternatives!

@SV In Like Flynn - Oh course! I regularly drive up Kelly Drive! AND I just visited the Japanese garden Prince Rainer had built in tribute to her in Monaco last summer while I was in the south of france for a family wedding! Monaco was. ahalf hour away, I couldn't resist!
Lizbot (host) 7:43:12 PM
@SV In Like Flynn - There is a house in my neighborhood that is rumored to have been purchased by Jack Kelly for his mistress back in the day!
Randy Marthins 7:43:13 PM
@rob - she's a writer, I'm an illustrator, yet our daughter is the only thing we've collab'd on LOL
Rob from Maryland 🦀 7:43:16 PM
@SVILF, I've heard of her, yes ;-)
SV In Like Flynn 7:43:23 PM
Kelly family is Philly royalty, all started by an Irish bricklayer I believe.
Rob from Maryland 🦀 7:43:49 PM
@Randy, all three of you are cool
Laura Loewen 7:44:01 PM
@Lizbot you really get around, I must say. I love this theme, btw. Signed, Color Freak

@SV In Like Flynn - Nearly two decades I interviewed British pop artist Mika for WPRB. One of his early hit singles was a song called "Grace Kelly". I interviewed him at his Philadelphia show backstage when he was touring for that album, and he INSISTED Grace Kelly was not from Philly. That could not stand! I had to correct him! Philly blood runs deep!

Hi Laura Loewen!!
Carlos Ramone 7:45:02 PM
Thanks for the music..quietly standing in the corner of the room observing
Lizbot (host) 7:45:32 PM
@Laura Loewen - Thanks! Haha, yeah well now I have a Frenchman in my family with some insider tips on places to stay!
Laura Loewen 7:45:59 PM
Oh, nice!
Lizbot (host) 7:46:12 PM

Lizbot (host) 7:46:31 PM
Hi Carlos Ramone!!
Amy Lee 7:46:37 PM
Just stopping by to say hi. Been listening since the start.
Rob from Maryland 🦀 7:46:39 PM
@Lizbot, that was Randy Marthins, not me!
Lizbot (host) 7:47:12 PM
@Carlos Ramone - Sometimes standing in the corner of the room quietly observing is the best place to be, especially at dusk!
Randy Marthins 7:47:20 PM
My friend from the 80s Philly scene, Nancy Barile, is a descendent of Ben Franklin
Lizbot (host) 7:47:30 PM
Hi Amy Lee!! Glad to see you!
SV In Like Flynn 7:47:44 PM
@Liz Sort of had an opportunity to meet Grace at a White Dog Cafe fundraiser for $200 just before her passing. But I was a broke 22 year old.
Randy Marthins 7:48:06 PM
My mom was DAR, since her family is traced back to 1750s Michigan
Carlos Ramone 7:48:55 PM
@liz..started observing on porch after a drenchingdown pour…shortly a nice rainbow appeared..fit in nicely with theme
Bike R 7:51:00 PM

Loved the Scots stuff
Number 6 7:54:54 PM
Thanks for a very colorful show, BCNU!
Lizbot (host) 7:55:19 PM
@SV In Like Flynn - Oh wow! I loved The White Dog back in the day when Judy still owned it. It's just not the same now. The new owners also own Moshulu...eh. It's lacking that crunchy grass-roots vibe and it isn't as cozy anymore. I used to go to Bars Through Bars fundraisers there. Would've been so cool to meet Grace!
Lizbot (host) 7:55:33 PM
@Rob from Maryland 🦀 - Thank you!!
Lizbot (host) 7:55:49 PM
Thanks, Number 6!
Carlos Ramone 7:57:20 PM
@#6…I heard a few people call you Ernest during your drive shows…is your identity compromised?.
Lizbot (host) 7:57:37 PM
@SV In Like Flynn - I can tell you first hand from having driven on those roads in Monaco - They are NO joke! So treacherous! steep mountainous seacliff roads with SHARP turns and lots of tunnels through the rock! I thought of Grace Kelly while on those!
Number 6 8:00:04 PM
Hi Carlos- That would be telling!
Lizbot (host) 8:00:56 PM
@Bike R - Glad you enjoyed the Scots! I often play Scottish bands without even making a point to...am again now with Donovan!...because so many of my favorite bands are from there, including ones I didn't get to today, like Orange Juice, The Shermans, Belle & Sebastian. et al
Carlos Ramone 8:01:07 PM
Our secret
Lizbot (host) 8:01:34 PM
@Dale Hazelton - Saw yr wizard of iz comment now - yes, i believe so....
