I ran cross country in junior high school - and hated it. we ran in the morning before school. i'm now at the point in my life where I'm only running if I'm being chased, or trying to catch a train. and if there's another train - then I'm not running.

Hey Dan!

I went for a run yesterday and passed a pack of kids 3x while I was out. Second time I encountered them they cheered me on and the third time (post-run) they asked me if I was tired. I was glad I could improvise "I was tired when I STARTED!" back.

I must say Jon - sounds like alot in one day - running, radio show, then a flight - i think I'm getting tired thinking about it!

Those are each on separate days but involve separate prep. Additionally, two musicals on Friday and Saturday!

Once out running a woman yelled "you run like your knees hurt!" I responded "They do!!!"

I can very much relate to that.

When people ask me "'how's it going?" I answer "I don't know yet. Give me a couple more miles"

Once when my wife and I were hiking, a pretty tough hike, some young people passed us and said they found us "inspiring". I was thinking FU you little sh*t I'm only 58! ha

They sent me a bunch of CDRs in the mid-1990s looking for someone to put out their music. I really liked what I heard but I was like "nobody knows who they are!" Whoops.

I saw them at Free at Noon a few weeks ago and the set was...not good!

The audience, save my wife and kid dancing in their seats and one person doing spirit fingers, were duds! Seated shows are extremely confusing. Am I at the New Pornographers talent show?

This was a Hanukkah present for the kid and I was not going to join but a ticket materialized last minute so I added on.

I thought their first few records were fantastic - so many hooks, the hooks had hooks!

Oh yes, sorry. I have a lipoma on my back the dermatologist decided should finally be cut off since it has grown. They needed to do an ultrasound and an MRI to make sure it was just my lil' fatty friend growing there and not something more troublesome.

@Fr1day, you have nothing to fear. That was from when I couldn't get the playlist program to change the (1) at the end of my screen name. Adding an emoji successfully got rid of that but I never switched it back and I like penguins (the animals).

btw - now that i'm officially old - I'll be 60 this year - I like a seat. Don't get me wrong - club shows, standing, of course. But as I get older, having a seat and not standing for 3 hours is pretty sweet. I got my tickets for the final Damned tour at Union Transfer and I'm already concerned about standing up all night.

Understood! But not a single person stood up until the very end of the night. Was weird!

The infamous riot the Jane's Addiction show many eons ago at the Tower Theater was at least partially due to it being an all seated venue.

When I saw Neil Young people were annoyed because some golf brahs stood up for the show in our section but this was because they were in the second-to-last row.

I'm usually running laps around the console.

As a tall, I'm always blocking someone at a concert. If it's a seated show, I'm blocking the same very angry person all night.

As a Fellow Tall, I find the back wall of Johnny Brenda's a perfect place to stand. Except for when a taller, bigger, drunker (?) person at a recent show decided to stand in my personal space / nearly fall into me.

Jon - Glad the MRI went well. DJ Tendorloin & fellow agers - I find 'what's the parking like?' also a factor now when looking at shows.

There was copious free parking by the Keswick.

Amy - totally - in fact we live in S. Philly and parking sucks big time so we really have to weigh not only finding parking there, but then at home after. If the venue is reasonable distance we'll lyft.

I would not have had it done had the doctor not insisted it was part of this whole deal.

Yeah I lost my friends at Om when they were playing underground arts because they moved up in the crowd last second and I was just not going to be popular in the crowd if i went with them. Windhand/Om turned out to be a wonderful back of the crowd experience anyway, all the bass was in the back

I on the other hand Jon am only partially glad the MRI went well. I'm kidding. Glad you're fine. Lil fatty friend. Little sad for Lil Fatty Friend though. Did he have a name?

Was just talking about seeing The Breeders at Prospect Park and how as A Tall I was not summoned up the front by my friend Liz like others in my party were.

My Fatty Friend is still a part of me until June. Enjoy them while you can!

It's my favcorite thing about Louisville. There's this tree that was said to be a gathering spot for witches, but thenn the city cut it down to erect a maypole..

So the witches cursed the city, and there was a huge storm (albeit several months later), during witch the stump of the tree was struck by lightning.

And a new tree sprouted from the old stump, but as it grew, it was all weirdly gnarled. That tree is still at the location, and people decorate it with beads and bring little tinkets as offerings

@randy i change planners every six months. i put big stickers on the endpapers and the start of each month, and occasionally days, and little stickers on the monthly calendar pages. stickers everywhere.

@dj tenderloin i made (beyond) steak sandwiches for dinner and my husband finished his before i even got mine put together.

Maggie Schreiter - we once did a side by side taste test between Beyond & Impossible. Impossible won, by a nose.

I can't commit to sticker placement in the use of sticker form so they evolve into something else.

these were the "steak tips," not sure if impossible has an equivalent. but if they do they don't carry it at wegmans!

@amy i put my bumper stickers on magnet sheet so i didn't have to *really* commit them to my car.

Maggie Schreiter - god I love wegman's. we're in S. Philly so it cost the toll to go over to NJ to go. But man - it's like a toy store, for food. when we did our beyond vs. impossible it was just the ground stuff. both brands have def expanded. Still haven't found a really good hot dog alternative though. that's a tough one.

everybody says the field roast "signature stadium dog" is the thing. my kid likes smart dogs.

Field roast has a bit more unique flavor for me than Beyond / Impossible. Those usually taste like whatever you put on them, if that makes sense.

@Jon, I wonder who that was. I see a band called Touch Girl Apple Blossom and I immediately wonder how much like Beat Happening they sound like (that phrase is in their song "Indian Summer")

I didn't dig smart dogs. i still eat meat, but I like impossible, and hot dogs are hard I think, but I'll look into these Field Roast dogs. For real dogs - seriously the best are the Costco brand - they're great. Richland. For real.

Field roast does a spicy italian that we will slice up for pasta.
