I went to a PRB history event about 7 years ago. They said they were going to air some historical taped programs but I never heard anymore about it . All hail Weingart!! On air since 1974

WPRB did not have a cassette deck back then, only reel to reel, carts for ads and PSAs, and of course vinyl. John Weingart was already a legend!

I think the cassettes were given to the station by listeners but who knows? Like Uncle Leo. I am an old man I get confused!!

Sony Walkman introduced 1979. Prior to that they weren’t considered to have sufficient fidelity for music.

My Technics M44 cassette dec I bought in 78 works great to this day...a great piece of machinery

i'm old but i did record cassettes of many college radio shows a long time ago , the hell if i know where they went

The studio version of China Cat is always a fun listen, the song evolved a lot in general groove over the years and there are a lot of little elements and background vocals that were dropped

music still holds up

Mok is still a hippie in 2026. This is from the days when people didn't know if a record was on or wheter it was just the walls breathing. Thank you Chef, Mok, Mike, and all the other hippies out there.

Jerry, hahahahah I WISH. Nobody at my small central Virginia college knew of Slade. In high school my father was stationed in Italy with the Navy and I ended up listening to Radio Luxembourg's post-9 pm English language programming. So, Slade, Sweet, Mud, Nazareth, ABBA, etc etc
