Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:51:29 PM
I'm glad, Rob F. Nice to hear from you!
DJ Mike 12:54:51 PM
Hi, I’m really enjoying the interview. I am a WPRB alum, circa ‘78-81, listening today from western Panama. FYI, Jerry, your voice is significantly lower in volume than Gary’s.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:59:35 PM
Thanks, Mike
Mike Constantine 1:27:57 PM
That last song was fantastic.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 1:28:49 PM
You've got EARS, sir. An old hit for Philadelphian Norman Connors in the seventies.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 1:30:41 PM
An early "Quiet Storm" track.
Mike Constantine 1:31:38 PM
It wasn't very quiet here at the house...craned that sucker up
Patrick White 1:32:31 PM
Wow PRB 1978 to 1981must have been Fire. I think I did listen to Tiger Hoops and football then.
Mike Constantine 1:33:53 PM
I started listening in 78

Patrick White 1:56:49 PM
I went to a PRB history event about 7 years ago. They said they were going to air some historical taped programs but I never heard anymore about it . All hail Weingart!! On air since 1974
DJ Mike 1:59:58 PM
WPRB did not have a cassette deck back then, only reel to reel, carts for ads and PSAs, and of course vinyl. John Weingart was already a legend!
Patrick White 2:04:40 PM
I think the cassettes were given to the station by listeners but who knows? Like Uncle Leo. I am an old man I get confused!!
DJ Mike 2:07:26 PM
Sony Walkman introduced 1979. Prior to that they weren’t considered to have sufficient fidelity for music.
Mike Constantine 2:10:22 PM
My Technics M44 cassette dec I bought in 78 works great to this day...a great piece of machinery
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 2:11:10 PM
A miracle, Mike!
Chef Emeril Lagasse 2:12:25 PM
Neil and the Dead! BAM! What a cherry on top of an already fantastic show!

Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 2:13:19 PM
Thank you, Chef! Hey Mok, still a hippie in 2026!
aiffrig 2:13:36 PM
i'm old but i did record cassettes of many college radio shows a long time ago , the hell if i know where they went
Chef Emeril Lagasse 2:13:36 PM
The studio version of China Cat is always a fun listen, the song evolved a lot in general groove over the years and there are a lot of little elements and background vocals that were dropped
Yo-Yo Mok 2:14:04 PM
music still holds up
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 2:16:39 PM
Mok is still a hippie in 2026. This is from the days when people didn't know if a record was on or wheter it was just the walls breathing. Thank you Chef, Mok, Mike, and all the other hippies out there.
Mike Constantine 2:17:47 PM
The walls are breathing, man!
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 2:18:48 PM
For Mike, the walls are STILL breathing!
Yo-Yo Mok 2:18:50 PM
I really need drop by Positively Records today. They got a ton of new vinyl in.
Patrick White 2:19:54 PM
50 years a ago a vast array of local entertainment options. Gabe Kaplan with Ben Vereen. Betty Carter. Harry Belafonte. Ahmad Jamal with Sonny fortune.Eddie Lockjaw Davis.Al Green with his Mighty Clouds of Joy. A speech on human rights by Nixon apparatchik Len Garment. Robert Morse appearing in his worst play ever. Closed in 3 days
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 2:21:17 PM
Now I'm feeling comfortable! Patrick, wasn't Len Garment "Deep Throat"?
David Shortell 2:22:29 PM
50 years ago, wasn't Kaplan finishing the first season of "..Kotter"?
Mike Constantine 2:22:57 PM
Mark Felt was deep throat
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 2:23:45 PM
I thought Mark Felt owned Shirt Corner.
Mike Constantine 2:24:28 PM
LOL!
Mike Constantine 2:26:23 PM
Quite possibly my favorite Dylan song
Patrick White 2:29:01 PM
Bennie Krass was Deep Throat
David Shortell 2:30:29 PM
Len Colodny and Robert Gettlin, the Nixon apologists who wrote “Silent Coup: The Removal of a President” in 1991, look rather foolish now. They contended that Deep Throat was Alexander Haig.
Mike Constantine 2:31:40 PM
Oops!
Patrick White 2:32:01 PM
Excuse me Dave. That’s former President Al Attila TheHaig!
Mike Constantine 2:32:32 PM
"I'm in charge here...now"
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 2:33:41 PM
Right on, Mike. Hysterical, Patrick. SCORE! Good info and analysis, David. We have a bunch of historians here in Jerry's Room. You've got to love it!
Mike Constantine 2:34:54 PM
Got this album in a cut out bin at Grant's
Patrick White 2:35:51 PM
Vince Lombardi strictly prohibited his players from hanging out in Jerry’s Dorm Room!!
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 2:36:11 PM
That makes it insanely more valuable. Couldn't be better.
aiffrig 2:36:31 PM
W T grant's
Mike Constantine 2:36:51 PM
Right!
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 2:36:56 PM
HL Grants? Hey Aiffrig!
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 2:37:26 PM

Mike Constantine 2:37:31 PM
This album hit the bins not long after Capitol issued it
Mike Constantine 2:37:51 PM
HL Greens
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 2:38:02 PM
Mike, could you or possibly David remind me why this album came out on Capitol?
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 2:38:30 PM
Haha, HL Greens! Mike, all brain cells intact!
Mike Constantine 2:39:11 PM
Hendri owed them an album for some reason
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 2:39:54 PM
Why? He was secretly Curtis Knight?
Mike Constantine 2:40:35 PM
Something Chas Chandler may have done
Mike Constantine 2:40:55 PM
Can't remember
Rob from Maryland 🦀 2:42:47 PM
I had this Beatles album in my dorm ... along with Linda Ronstadt, Slade, Patti Smith, Fleetwood Mac, ...
Rob from Maryland 🦀 2:43:02 PM
And hi everyone
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 2:44:07 PM
Hey Rob, you had all the girls running in and out of there, especially when you pulled out the Slade album!
Mike Constantine 2:44:45 PM
Oy vey....Slade
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 2:45:10 PM
Unlike Kiss, they weren't Jewish
Mike Constantine 2:45:45 PM
Far from it!
Rob from Maryland 🦀 2:46:46 PM
Jerry, hahahahah I WISH. Nobody at my small central Virginia college knew of Slade. In high school my father was stationed in Italy with the Navy and I ended up listening to Radio Luxembourg's post-9 pm English language programming. So, Slade, Sweet, Mud, Nazareth, ABBA, etc etc
Mike Constantine 2:46:49 PM
Chaim on bass! Welcome KISS!
Patrick White 2:47:00 PM
Everyone have a great weekend. Let’s Go Flyers and Let’s go Don Earle

Thanks, Christine, have a great time at the Festival!!!!!!!!!
Chef Emeril Lagasse 2:57:50 PM
Shoutout to George Martin. I dunno if it's just my ears or mind, but Beatles productions sound so much better and more timeless than pretty much any other rock/pop records from their era
Russell Woessner 2:57:55 PM
Thanks for the great interview with Gary Bartz and the flashback to Jerry's Dorm Room!
Christine 𓅊 𓃕 𓃹 2:57:58 PM
