@Danosaur🦖 - oh my god, yes, it certainly is! And I have mainly just tried played complicated arrangements of "Powerhouse" and "Toy Trumpet"! Old Gusher seems at least as hard as Powerhouse, but I haven't found sheet music for it. it's a bit brutal! All those were of course from his jazz period, pre-electronium/Soothing Sounds for Baby electronic era, but I love that stuff too!

Prolapse's 'Slash/Oblique" (from The Italian Flag album) once had me doing 45-ish in a 25 mph zone ... in second gear. I was singing along so loudly I couldn't hear the grinding gears until the song ended.

It's a bit of an obvious choice, but never fails to give me a thrill when Jonathan shouts that count-off at the start! Roadrunner by The Modern Lovers is certainly a great song! Once we were driving in eastern Massachusetts when it came on the radio. We didn't get off the interstate to look for Stop and Shops

@Danosaur🦖 / @Rob from Maryland 🦀 - The annual Cherry Blossom Festival in Fairmount Park had to be moved forward by a couple of weeks this year to late March instead of its traditional early/mid-April timing because the warmer springs have brought earlier-blooming sakura! Sadly, I'm usually out of town the end of March and had to miss it and I love that fest! One of my favorite events of Philly Spring!

I was kinda surprised that so few people knew it was happening; b/c of where I work, we've been getting updates pretty regularly - but, I was STILL surprised when they rolled it out to the launch pad "oh? It's done?"

On the topic of driving music, was reminded kf this yesterday. About 20yrs ago, was in an accident where my truck rolled, and as it occurred, I thought, "well...if this is the last music I ever hear, at least it's Ryan Adams". I came out unscathed. Truck did not.

Kate is a good sport. She agreed to sing on my friend's album (Time of Orchids' "Much Too Much Fun") for free in the early 2000s because she liked their music, and she asked for no pay. She hadn't heard of them, they just sent her some of their songs on a lark and told her they were huge fans of her, and she sang on two songs!

She toured smaller venues in 2025 as a solo act. Came to City Winery in Philly. Wasn't packed though!

That's how it's done!!!

@Randy Marthins - Yeah, that sounds like the show Lee Paris promoted and I think had some hand in booking. There were a series of Philadelphia Zoo new wave, rock etc shows at that time and I was a bit too young to convince my parents to take me, even though they took me to all kinds of folk shows!

@JimmyCarter IsMy Hero - Okay, I will say maybe a bit of a similarity to Primus' basslines, but overall, not so much, or at least Angine has a microtonal thing going on I like a lot more, more proggy etc. My husband loved Primus as a teen and he is a bassist, so it figures, but Primus just never did it for me

@Jimmy, Angine de Poitrine is rather a one trick pony doing math, but it sounds good, I can't figure in an opinion yet other than I like it so far. But only so far, so far.

@Matt Sabbath - oh we were two blocks from the Reeperbahn in Hamburg with my German cousin's two little kids, so we did not venue that direction, yet we DID see the very Hamburg tradition of Treppenfegen, which involves a man on his 30th birthday having to sweep up bottlecaps in tossed towards him by revelers, usually dressed in an silly costume, until he is kissed or his friends take pity on him!

@Dale Hazelton - Re: many one-minute songs - One of these day I'll reintroduce The Iron DJ Competition Dan Ruccia and former WPRB DJ (still a DJ in Asheville, NC) Greg Lyon invented 20+ years ago whereby two DJs alternate playing 1-minute or shorter tracks only for 3 hours!
