@ dj chatelaine And a Happy Passover/Easter to you & all as well! Thanks so much for playing the track by Earl "Fatha" Hines, a fab pianist and band leader who is really under-played even on WPRB's eclectic airwaves. I must agree with Hines' his Wiki entry that he was "one of a small number of pianists whose playing shaped the history of jazz."
Richard of Rocky Hill 1:28:20 AM
Excuse me, "tracks" (plural) by Hines. And followed up by Hawkins & Young. It don't get much better for my late nite/early a.m. work-at-the-desk soundtrack. :-D
Richard of Rocky Hill 2:01:34 AM
I was really taken with the lyrics to Sarah Vaughan's "Black Coffee" so I did a Google -- and discovered they were penned by Paul Francis Webster, who among his many career achievements was nominated an astonishing sixteen times ~ yes, 16! ~ for Best Song at the Academy Awards, and won three times!
