Lizbot (host) 5:06:25 PM
Hi Richard of Rocky Hill!
Arlene Machiavelli 5:06:35 PM
Yay so glad you are back! Longtime listener, from NJ now in Oceanside CA and I jut finished my LAST chemo for breast cancer on Thursday (still have surgeries and radiation but huge milestone) and am celebrating over here at the beach and so happy to get to tune in to your show. Sending sunshine from the west!
Rob from Maryland 🦀 5:07:19 PM
Hi Lizbot, welcome back!
Lizbot (host) 5:07:42 PM
@Richard of Rocky Hill - Yes! Phew!
Rob from Maryland 🦀 5:07:42 PM
And hi everyone! Arlene, hooray!!!
Lizbot (host) 5:08:05 PM
Hi Rob from Maryland 🦀!
Lizbot (host) 5:08:16 PM
Hi Arlene Machiavelli!
Lizbot (host) 5:09:24 PM
@Arlene Machiavelli - Congratulations on completing your final chemo! So happy for you! Enjoy your beach day!
Arlene Machiavelli 5:09:43 PM
I just made an "Equinox" mix for the spring equinox and this Jane Siberry track so should have been on it! nice one
Ossy 5:11:08 PM
hi liz
Lizbot (host) 5:11:16 PM
@Arlene Machiavelli - I love that first couple of Jane Siberry albums! Her "Mimi on the Beach" is also a perfect Beach Day song for pensive beach listening!
Lizbot (host) 5:11:20 PM
Hi Ossy!
Lizbot (host) 5:11:34 PM
@Ossy - How're you digging the spring rain smells?
Arlene Machiavelli 5:12:02 PM
awesome will check out Mimi! thanks :)
Lizbot (host) 5:12:16 PM
@Arlene Machiavelli - Yeah, I very nearly made today's show a spring theme, but then went in a different direction. Might still slip in a song or two about spring later today
Lizbot (host) 5:12:46 PM
@Arlene Machiavelli - Mimi is her 7+minute epic!
Arlene Machiavelli 5:13:04 PM
haha i have so many spring mixes. psyched to hear what you play today!
Ossy 5:13:37 PM
liz - very gloomy, rainy and smelly..in an unhappy way lol
Lizbot (host) 5:14:16 PM
@Arlene Machivelli - Almost did an April-only one, which ive done before, but the playlist turned into something else!
Lizbot (host) 5:14:37 PM
@Ossy - oof, oh no! I'm enjoying this light rain...as long as it stays light1
Ossy 5:15:18 PM
at least the skies of gray is fitting with how today of mine is going :)
Lizbot (host) 5:15:40 PM
@Richard of Rocky Hill / @Rob from Maryland 🦀 / everyone - It was rough flying out of Puerto Rico. I was there two years prior with zero issues, but this time we had to move our flight 2 1/2 days earlier, cutting that portion of our trip in half, just to have any hope of catching a flight out of there.
Lizbot (host) 5:18:10 PM
First 2/3 of the trip: Flew to Boston from Philly - no airport delays yet at that point. Rented a car and drove to Western Mass for my daughter's college tours and interviews out there. Then back to Boston for touring some Boston schools. Flight from Boston to Puerto Rico was uneventful. Once in PR, found out far more TSA agents had quit there and it was chaos
Lizbot (host) 5:19:04 PM
Ultimately: Spent the night in the airport: from 10:30 PM until 4 am in lines to make a 5 am flight
Lizbot (host) 5:19:41 PM
@Ossy - Yeah, I think this weather is informing my music choices today. Kinda pensive, slower, darker
JimmyCarter IsMy Hero 5:21:19 PM
Hi form OR! I always enjoy Thursdays when my Lizsbot alarm goes off. It will be a few good hours at work.
Rob from Maryland 🦀 5:21:40 PM
Lizbot & Arlene, the very first time I heard Mimi On The Beach, one morning (at home) on WHFS-FM in the DC area, I sat down transfixed until the song was over, and waited to find out the name of the singer.
Lizbot (host) 5:21:59 PM
Hi JimmyCarter IsMy Hero!
Ossy 5:22:10 PM
liz - tru tru
Lizbot (host) 5:22:26 PM
@JimmyCarter IsMy Hero - Happy to help your Thursday along!
Rob from Maryland 🦀 5:23:51 PM
Lizbot, oh no, that PR leg sounds AWful!
Lizbot (host) 5:24:16 PM
@Rob from Maryland 🦀 - Yeah, that pretty much sums up my experience with that song! It is transfixing! The story and the visual imagery she evokes is so strong and memorable
Lizbot (host) 5:25:08 PM
@Rob from Maryland 🦀 - She gets compared to Laurie Anderson a lot, and I get it: Began in similar time period, experimental storytelling-type songs. I love Laurie too, of course
Richard of Rocky Hill 5:32:20 PM
@ Lizbot (host) Another strong show opening, thanks
Lizbot (host) 5:35:46 PM
@Richard of Rocky Hill - Thanks!
Arlene Machiavelli 5:37:20 PM
@rob & lizbot now I am going to have to play Mimi at the beach and be transfixed! :)
jimbooooo 5:41:45 PM

Bud Burroughs 5:51:44 PM
Hello Lizbot, I was at Big Ears last weekend (it's in Knoxville, by the way)! One of my favorite sets was John Zorn and Laurie Anderson improvising together.
Number 6 5:52:15 PM
I'm off to Synth Night, BCNU!
Matt Sabbath 5:52:27 PM
Bud nice!! I've only been to the Knoxville Greyhound Lol (highly recommended)
jimbooooo 5:52:32 PM
Know Your Rights? The ghost of Joe Strummer just shouted in my ear "THIS IS A PUBLIC. SERVICE. ANNOUNCCCCCEMENT!"
Bud Burroughs 5:53:13 PM
The Knoxville Greyhound station was actually repurposed as a Big Ears venue for this years festival
Lizbot (host) 5:53:35 PM
Hi Bud Burroughs!
Matt Sabbath 5:53:46 PM
BB !! My man Cormac McCarthy hails from Knoxville
Lizbot (host) 5:55:21 PM
@Bud Burroughs - Knoxville - right, right! My brain is fried today! I lot of friends attended, some played it, but I can't make it there until my kid is done with high school because it doesn't fall during any school breaks. Definitely intend to!
Lizbot (host) 5:55:50 PM
@Matt Sabbath - Does "The Road" go through Knoxville??
Lizbot (host) 5:56:20 PM
@jimbooooo - WITH GUITARS!
Matt Sabbath 5:56:51 PM
@Lizbot that one more inspired by Cormac's time in New Mexico and his son. Helluva read, that.
jimbooooo 5:57:06 PM
Yes, Bot!
Matt Sabbath 5:57:31 PM
But if you are Jersey Strong you read Blood Meridian.
Bud Burroughs 5:57:42 PM
It's well worth the trip, so much amazing music happening everywhere that it's hard to decide what to see
Matt Sabbath 5:58:12 PM
(I will not accept/pay your therapy bills after Blood Meridian, however, yer on yer own)
Lizbot (host) 5:58:14 PM
@Matt Sabbath - yeah, my husband started reading it a long time ago. Don't remember if he finished, but it made a big impression on him. I know it is bleak!
Lizbot (host) 5:58:45 PM
@Matt Sabbath - I'm assuming you've seen this classic of the height of the Tumblr Era: https://yelpingwithcormac.tumblr.com/best
Matt Sabbath 5:59:00 PM
Mr. Lizbot sounds like a good dude on that alone.
Lizbot (host) 5:59:16 PM
The Taco Trilogy in Yelping with Cormac is my favorite
Matt Sabbath 5:59:34 PM
LOLOLOLOLOLOL Lizbot
Lizbot (host) 6:00:00 PM
@Matt Sabbath - haha, I think I'd like Blood Meridian and The Road. I loved The Plague! I just gotta be in a the right mood for it!
Mike Tropiano 6:00:11 PM
Matt, I did need therapy after reading Blood Meridian. Seriously! GRIM.
Matt Sabbath 6:00:37 PM
It took Cormac his whole life, but he loosens up a bit and gets funny in his last two novels
Matt Sabbath 6:01:16 PM
Mike T totally. And narrated in such a clinical and detached fashion.
Lizbot (host) 6:02:03 PM
@Bud Burroughs - Big Ears, and also Bang On a Can's "Loud Weekend" at MassMOCA, are two music fests I've always wanted to attend that are just generally in conflict with the kid's schedule. BUT I will one day! Hoping to in 2028!
Lizbot (host) 6:02:13 PM
Hi Mike Tropiano!
Matt Sabbath 6:02:18 PM
It's ALWAYS the female DJs who get me to cry and they do it WITH THIS SONG Lololol
Matt Sabbath 6:02:41 PM
actually, the great Jon Solomon played an Advance Base song what made me cry
Mike Tropiano 6:02:58 PM
Yeah Matt, I read his final book before I read Blood Meridian, probably wouldn't have read any more McCarthy if reversed. I was numb! Yes...brutal atrocity as quotidian, that's Blood Meridian.
Mike Tropiano 6:03:14 PM
Hi Liz.
Lizbot (host) 6:03:58 PM
@Mike Tropiano / @Matt Sabbath - I feel like my teen self, who was endlessly grim when it came to books, would've liked Cormac a lot. I think I'd still like it, but I'd probably have to read one of CM's books in a couple long stints when I want grimness!
jimbooooo 6:04:10 PM
Blood Meridian my fave. Child of God is an early creepy classic.
Matt Sabbath 6:04:25 PM
oh chit Jon Solomon got me twice actually, a Water Damage song made me cry for some reason (no lyrics). Jon is the Lisan al-Ghaib.
Matt Sabbath 6:04:56 PM
jimbooooooo Child of God is Cormac at most unhinged LOL
Lizbot (host) 6:05:03 PM
@Matt Sabbath - haha, which song, I Offered It Up to the Night Sky, or I'll Keep It with Mine??
Matt Sabbath 6:05:45 PM
Lizbot the Dirty 3 in general get me. Rosasolis got me once. This song is sofa king good.
Mike Tropiano 6:07:08 PM
I did like The Road. Right after it I read "Earth Abides" by George Stewart - kind of the anti-McCarthy version of a similar story.
Matt Sabbath 6:07:13 PM
my cousin Ed has seen me at my drunkest and he said I was still outdrank by Dirty Three in Berkeley, CA, in the 1990s LOLOLOL. Australians on the loose in America whoopin it up.
Mike Tropiano 6:07:32 PM
I will read Child of God, but Imma scared.
Lizbot (host) 6:07:36 PM
@Bud Burroughs - Did you catch Zorn's "Cobra"? I've seen it performed twice, both times in Philly at The Rotunda. My husband participated in the first performance. I still remember the cards and hat props!
Matt Sabbath 6:07:43 PM
ah Mike T very cool, point and counterpoint
Mike Tropiano 6:08:13 PM
I thinks that's why I could appreciate The Road.
Matt Sabbath 6:08:15 PM
Lizbot that is rad! Mr. Bot sounds fun! The world needs that.
Matt Sabbath 6:08:59 PM
Outer Dark is unhinged as well. Early Cormac.
Matt Sabbath 6:10:09 PM
check out The Proposition movie, which has this type of music and Cormac M type plot (Australia)
Lizbot (host) 6:10:28 PM
@Matt Sabbath - haha, wow. Melbourne lads go HARD.
Lizbot (host) 6:11:14 PM
@Mike Tropiano - Curious about George Stewart...Should I read his and The Road back to back, or would that cancel both out??
Matt Sabbath 6:11:27 PM
Australia invents new punk genres daily (egg, chain, etc)
Lizbot (host) 6:12:24 PM
@Matt Sabbath - I MIGHT rush to the Dirty Three show right after I get off air, but coming from Princeton, it's a longshot. They have no opener that i know of, but they DO tend to play long sets! I could possibly catch the second half it I'm lucky
Lizbot (host) 6:13:31 PM
@Matt Sabbath - Love Aussie bands. Saw Warren Ellis with Nick Cave too. Saw Nick's show at The Met in 2025. Great night! I was possibly singing all the lyrics...
Mike Tropiano 6:13:53 PM
Liz, I think that's what happened to me. Earth Abides is not upbeat, being another post-apocalyptic story. Unlike McCarthy though, Stewart has a rosier (but not naive) view on human nature.
Matt Sabbath 6:14:02 PM
Catch the second half when they are liquored up and get on the furniture mid fiddle solo
Lizbot (host) 6:14:09 PM
@Matt Sabbath - I keep intending to do an all-Aussie bands show for Australia Day, but every time I think of it again, Australia Day has just passed!
Matt Sabbath 6:14:40 PM
Lizbot that would be fockn rad
Lizbot (host) 6:16:11 PM
@Mike Tropiano - haha, be careful! You are stepping on literary shaky ground! You might wake up on a road in the desert
Matt Sabbath 6:16:18 PM
Jen Redlights has that awesome early aussie punk comp or maybe it is in wprb stax
addie 🐍🐍🐍 plum 6:17:00 PM
Oh Sinead.
Mike Tropiano 6:17:01 PM
With some naked old guy tracing me.
Lizbot (host) 6:17:06 PM
@Matt Sabbath - Are you talking about the Sydney Post-Punk: M-Squared the the whole sick crew? I love that comp
Lizbot (host) 6:17:29 PM
Hi addie 🐍🐍🐍 plum! Yeah, today called for some Sinead. Honestly, this entire week did.
Matt Sabbath 6:17:47 PM
I edited a southern goth writer name of William Gay. William went to a literary fest just to meet Cormac's EDITOR. "I need to shake the hand of the person brave enough to edit Cormac", he said, then walked away.
addie 🐍🐍🐍 plum 6:17:52 PM
You got that right.
Lizbot (host) 6:18:22 PM
@addie 🐍🐍🐍 plum - i get chills from that drop and her "oooh oooh oooh"
Lizbot (host) 6:18:43 PM
@addie 🐍🐍🐍 plum - We did not deserve Sinead. She was too good for this earth. She was done so wrong.
Matt Sabbath 6:19:13 PM
Lizbot might be re Australia. Also the Road Warrior soundtrack is punk rock in a weird way.
Lizbot (host) 6:21:04 PM
@Matt Sabbath - ah. I have these three old homemade comps sent to us by the old label founder of M Squared label in Sydney 25+ years ago. They're great. All Sydney early 80s punk/post-punk
Lizbot (host) 6:21:45 PM
@Mike Tropiano - ha! those naked old guys are stronger than they appear!
Randy Marthins 6:22:37 PM
April is the cruellest month, breeding Lilacs out of the dead land, mixing Memory and desire, stirring Dull roots with spring rain.
Lizbot (host) 6:22:44 PM
@Matt Sabbath - Haha, I wonder what Cormac's editor thought of that
Mike Tropiano 6:23:24 PM
I hope I never find that out Liz.
Lizbot (host) 6:23:31 PM
Hi Randy Marthins!
Lizbot (host) 6:24:22 PM
@Randy Marthins - I guess that's what Igor Stravinsky was going for with The Rite of Spring. Flowers violently pushing through previously dormant earth
Lizbot (host) 6:24:40 PM
@Mike Tropiano - I hope so for your sake!
Randy Marthins 6:25:24 PM
Last year, I read a graphic novelization on "The Road" the illustrations gave me a wondering of what the text might have been like - pretty bleak; black ink and grey washes, with some reds & ochres
Mike Tropiano 6:26:48 PM
Randy, I saw that and read a bit of it in a local library.
Lizbot (host) 6:26:55 PM
@addie 🐍🐍🐍 plum - I remember seeing live Sinead's pope photo tearing protest on SNL and how powerful it was, and then for the rest of that season SNL referred to her as Uncle Fester. Ugh. But she was not wrong. She had her demons. She was so right about coverups in the church and she paid dearly for coming forward. Did you see that doc about her from a few years back?
Matt Sabbath 6:27:44 PM
Rites of Spring is metal. Big influence on Voivod.
Matt Sabbath 6:29:12 PM
ah the mighty EN
Lizbot (host) 6:29:41 PM
@Matt Sabbath - Absolutely. My husband's granddad used to get in debates with my husband at family gatherings and his granddad's go-to point was that no one was making music anymore as revolutionary as Stravinsky.
Arlene Machiavelli 6:31:03 PM
No way, just listened to Einstürzende Neubauten yesterday live streamed, so so so good!!!
Matt Sabbath 6:31:07 PM
Lizbot I hearya, Nietzsche had those debates in the late 1800s, asking basically Where is the metal? Where is the spirit of chaos?
Randy Marthins 6:31:26 PM
He never listened to Zappa or DEVO, I suppose?
Lizbot (host) 6:31:37 PM
@Randy Marthins - Oh I think I heard about that graphic novel. I should read the book first, probably, but if it's too bleak, maybe i'll just jump to the graphic novel!
Matt Sabbath 6:31:49 PM
(and then Buzzoven answered in the 1990s LOL)
Arlene Machiavelli 6:31:52 PM
this was the link I hope they archived it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=twXQvpUp5B8
Lizbot (host) 6:33:01 PM
@Randy Marthins - haha, he was not prone to conceding points! This debate went on for YEARS and my husband eventually realized it was fruitless, but fun to get his granddad worked up!
Randy Marthins 6:34:25 PM
Tweeting old people is cruel but (occasionally) fun
Lizbot (host) 6:34:33 PM
@Arlene Machiavelli - oh wow! I didn't know Einstürzende Neubauten was doing a live stream recently! That Stella Maris song popped into my head this morning for the first time in a while. It's a Neubauten kind of day!
Randy Marthins 6:34:43 PM
*tweeking
Arlene Machiavelli 6:36:01 PM
@lizbot yes! my german friend yesterday sent me the link and it was awesome
Lizbot (host) 6:36:36 PM
@Arlene Machiavelli - Thanks for the link! Will watch later. Funny- today I wound up playing two artists who've played in Nick Cave's band: Blixa Bargeld/Neubauten and Warren Ellis/Dirty Three. Maybe I should throw on some Nick Cave
Lizbot (host) 6:37:39 PM
@Randy Marthins - Oh that guy LIVED for a good debate! He always instigated them! I think he was trying to rile up my husband for his amusement! He started this tradition when my husband was a teenager
Richard of Rocky Hill 6:39:54 PM
What an intriguing cover of "Sunshine of Your Love"! I'd never heard it before, so I did a Google and discovered that Pete Brown co-wrote the original with Jack Bruce of Cream.
jimbooooo 6:40:45 PM
Minnie just SOARING in
Mike Tropiano 6:41:35 PM
Love this intro.
Rob from Maryland 🦀 6:41:41 PM
The Lamb Lies Down!!!
Lizbot (host) 6:41:43 PM
@jimbooooo - Minnie was a GODDESS.
Mike Tropiano 6:41:45 PM
ANd the rest too.
Lizbot (host) 6:42:01 PM
@Rob from Maryland 🦀 - and the lamb....lies down....
jimbooooo 6:42:20 PM
Throw in some Barry Adamson and Die Haut for good measure for the Cave crew!
Mike Tropiano 6:42:50 PM
Meredith Monk and Diamanda Galas would be good to listen to while reading McCarthy.
Lizbot (host) 6:43:55 PM
@Rob from Maryland 🦀 - Since I couldn't see this show in its original form, I saw The Musical Box do a very near approximation of it at The Keswick in Glenside years ago. Peter Gabriel allowed them to use all his original costumes and slides. It was great! And I was a bit hesitant beforehand because cover-bands can be a real mixed bag, but The Musical Box is uncanny
Lizbot (host) 6:44:15 PM
@jimbooooo - haha, this is turning into a theme!
Lizbot (host) 6:45:23 PM
@Mike Tropiano - The intro gives me chills. Has since I was a kid. And hey, I'm a piano/keyboards-oriented prog child. Before I was a punk, I was listening to these albums and delighting in piano being foregrounded
Lizbot (host) 6:46:16 PM
haha, dammit, I always forget that ABRUPT mid-word cold ending on Lamb! argh!
Lizbot (host) 6:46:41 PM
"Don't push me. I was taught self-expression when I was a child." - Peter Hammill .
Mike Tropiano 6:46:46 PM
Liz, I had a similar PROGession to punk.
Rob from Maryland 🦀 6:47:27 PM
@Lizbot, how very very nice to see such a good approximation of The Lamb Lies Down!!

Lizbot (host) 6:48:37 PM
@Mike Tropiano - yeah! I resented when prog and punk were presented as having be diametrically-opposed genres! You can like both! you can be in more than one scene! I was taught piano and sight-reading and appreciated the music school art kids' bombastic arty prog AND the pure primal punk stuff!
Mike Tropiano 6:49:31 PM
Liz, I thought I was the only one who likes both. I don't understand why one can't.
Lizbot (host) 6:51:12 PM
@Mike Tropiano - Image didn't display
Rob from Maryland 🦀 6:51:26 PM
@Mike T and @Lizbot, I was into prog before punk came along. I listened to both for a while before a two-year period when punk buried everything else
Mike Tropiano 6:51:39 PM
Now, I kind of can''t imagine what prog-punk or punk-prog might sound like. Mellotrons and slam dancing?
Mike Tropiano 6:51:47 PM
I'll try again.
Lizbot (host) 6:52:16 PM
@Rob from Maryland 🦀 - The slides were in great shape! Kinda turned pink because it was that era of film that pinkified with age. But still great! The Musical Box does other Gabriel-era Genesis shows. I'd like to get to another one
Mike Tropiano 6:52:24 PM
https://simple.wikipedia.org/wiki/Van_de_Graaff_Generator
Lizbot (host) 6:54:09 PM
@Mike Tropiano - Ah! Yeah it's funny. The first time I listened to Van der Graaf Generator I was maybe 14 and Peter Hammill's voice for some reason irritated me, even though I loved a lot of similar prog. I gave it another shot in my 20s and instantly loved it and wondered what my 14 year-old self had been thinking!
Lizbot (host) 6:54:33 PM
@Mike Tropiano - I feel like Cardiacs is somewhat punk, somewhat prog
𓀠 ǝɹnɔsqꓳ ǝɥꓕ ǝʌɐꓷ 𓀡 6:55:05 PM
@ Mike T, Cardiacs are”pronk”
Lizbot (host) 6:55:34 PM
@Mike Tropiano - I mean, they often get shuffled into nebulous "art rock" / "post-punk" categories, but I feel they meld elements of both
Lizbot (host) 6:55:41 PM
Hi 𓀠 ǝɹnɔsqꓳ ǝɥꓕ ǝʌɐꓷ 𓀡!
Matt Sabbath 6:55:44 PM
Fudge Tunnel do Sunshine of Yer Love and it's pretty solid
Lizbot (host) 6:56:18 PM
@𓀠 ǝɹnɔsqꓳ ǝɥꓕ ǝʌɐꓷ 𓀡 - Pronk, the spork of genres
Matt Sabbath 6:56:58 PM
pronk!! first pronk band comes to mind is Triclops! on Alt Tentacles. Spazzy punk but long complex songs Lol
Mike Tropiano 6:57:16 PM
I think my teenage self was a bit frightened by the edge in Peter Hamill's voice and lyrics...I can remember nightmares that had songs in them with his voice/singing...I forgot about the Cardiacs.
Lizbot (host) 6:57:25 PM
Getting all timpani-dramatic here
Mike Tropiano 6:57:26 PM
lol spork of genres!
Matt Sabbath 6:58:23 PM
timpani rules
Lizbot (host) 6:58:53 PM
@Matt Sabbath - haha, yeah! I feel like Punishment of Luxury was also a bit pronk!
Lizbot (host) 6:59:30 PM
@Mike Tropiano - I think I was intimidated by Hammill's bombast, and later I could not get enough of it!
Mike Tropiano 7:00:33 PM
Same here Liz...this sounds like the soundtrack of those dreams, only much faster, louder and intense.
Rob from Maryland 🦀 7:01:13 PM
I didn't realize that was a station ID, I thought it was a piece of 'music'
Matt Sabbath 7:01:44 PM
I'm gonna go ahead and apply pronk to cinema. (sips wine, puffs pipe) the cosmic horror film Mandy: a pronk film. Begins with King Crimson and is punk af. (sips wine)
Matt Sabbath 7:03:02 PM
oh chit someone just invented post-pronk
Arlene Machiavelli 7:03:05 PM
yes! my favorite Beak> song! saw a fun act called Litronix here in San Diego, he tours with Beak> in Europe, fun live act
Randy Marthins 7:03:06 PM
@lizbot - on Flea's new jazz album, Nick Cave sings "Wichita Lineman" it's pretty amazing
Mike Tropiano 7:04:02 PM
I think it should be pronounced Glen's Ide.
Matt Sabbath 7:05:45 PM
oh chit Stella Maris is a Cormac book! Serendipity.
Randy Marthins 7:06:12 PM
When someone would puke on the floor at the Keswick, you'd do the Glenside Slide
Matt Sabbath 7:06:40 PM
Randy haaaaaaaaa!!
Justin Szeliga 7:07:07 PM
I went to see the "and then there were three" Genesis in 1978 or 79 & Peter Gabriel came out & did The Lamb with them for an encore
Mike Tropiano 7:07:22 PM
And if you were a horror punk icon, you'd do the Glenside Glen's slide.
Matt Sabbath 7:07:24 PM
Justin nice!
Matt Sabbath 7:07:42 PM
Mike T Lol I wuz thinkin that
Mike Tropiano 7:07:48 PM
Jealous Justin!
Mike Tropiano 7:08:06 PM
Great minds Matt
Matt Sabbath 7:08:32 PM
Mike T all roads lead to Lodi, as they say
Lizbot (host) 7:09:20 PM
@Rob from Maryland 🦀 - haha, yeah that was one of those rare over-1-minute-long station IDs. That's George saying "WPRB, Princeton" at the end
Matt Sabbath 7:09:22 PM
(even though Nomeansno say All Roads Lead to Ausfahrt)
Mike Tropiano 7:09:24 PM
or Stella Maris, a church in my neighborhood
Justin Szeliga 7:09:42 PM
I was just getting into them & was familiar with the album but didn't realize it was Gabriel till the train ride home.
Mike Tropiano 7:09:48 PM
lol
Lizbot (host) 7:10:24 PM
@Matt Sabbath - ooooh, I am intrigued...[adds Mandy to ever-growing watchlist]
Mike Tropiano 7:10:55 PM
I'm taking notes tonight too.
Lizbot (host) 7:11:16 PM
@Matt Sabbath - Post-Pronk!
Lizbot (host) 7:12:00 PM
@Arlene Machiavelli - I love that song! I'll have to check out Litronix!
Randy Marthins 7:12:15 PM
@matt - "all roads lead to Lodi, as they say" Rt 138, especially
Matt Sabbath 7:12:35 PM
Randy haaaaaaaaa!! nice. We are 138.
Mike Tropiano 7:13:00 PM
Time I head home. I'll be listening in the car. Great show Liz and great chatterers (thinking of a cenobyte). Thanks everyone if I don't make it back to the chat tonight. This has been a lot of fun!
Lizbot (host) 7:13:11 PM
@Randy Marthins - haha, I know I have to listen to more of this new Flea album cuz I haven't heard the Wichita Lineman cover yet!
Matt Sabbath 7:13:40 PM
Mike T take care, god luck and good speed (Weedeater)
Mike Tropiano 7:14:13 PM
Thanks Matt. Stay cool.
Lizbot (host) 7:14:46 PM
@Randy Marthins / @Randy Marthins - Thankfully I haven't had to perform the "glen slide" there, although maybe that term can also be applied to their bizarre wonky sliding chairs!
Lizbot (host) 7:15:17 PM
@Justin Szeliga - Ack! I would be VERY happy to see PG perform Lamb!
michael gudgeon 7:15:31 PM
i listened to some moon today lizbot was in a mouse mood!
Randy Marthins 7:16:28 PM
@lizbot - it's really good - I listened while working on my latest artwork & even included "@flea333 #honora" in the credits
Matt Sabbath 7:16:32 PM
Lizbot, 2 bands ye may dig: Virtual Limbs (houston, tx); Painist -- metal without guitar or bass. Both on the bandcamp.
Matt Sabbath 7:17:25 PM
https://virtuallimbs.bandcamp.com/album/big-time-crime
Lizbot (host) 7:17:33 PM
@michael gudgeon - listened to the actual moon, the moon AND antarctica, an actual mouse, and a modest one, at that
Lizbot (host) 7:18:11 PM
@Matt Sabbath - Oooh, will check them out! I keep a long bandcamp list!
Matt Sabbath 7:18:23 PM

Matt Sabbath 7:19:00 PM
both bands smart/dark, with unusual approaches to sound creation, hope ye like
Lizbot (host) 7:19:25 PM
@Mike Tropiano - THanks for hanging out and listening! I missed this comment earlier!
Amy Lee 7:20:03 PM
Just popping in to say hi Lizbot & chat.
0x7EA Roffle 7:20:51 PM
Hey Wanderbot! What Amy said! :)
Lizbot (host) 7:21:04 PM
@Randy Marthins - Rte 138 leads to all sorts of misadventures
Lizbot (host) 7:21:14 PM
Hi Amy Lee!
Lizbot (host) 7:21:18 PM
Hi 0x7EA Roffle!
michael gudgeon 7:21:28 PM
@lizbot you get it
Matt Sabbath 7:21:34 PM
Lizbot I heartily agree re rt 138
Lizbot (host) 7:22:43 PM
@0x7EA Roffle - I guess am I a Wanderbot, as I did wander for the past two weeks, but I don't recommend wandering by plane at the moment!
Matt Sabbath 7:23:18 PM
misadventure is the most instructive adventure
0x7EA Roffle 7:23:30 PM
Zero plans of it for sure.
Randy Marthins 7:24:02 PM
@lizbot - "I keep a long bandcamp list!" a friend of mine has a podcast called "do you even Bandcamp, bro?"
Lizbot (host) 7:24:47 PM
@Matt Sabbath - True!
Randy Marthins 7:25:00 PM
"When everything goes wrong, that's where Adventure begins" - Yvon Chouinard
Matt Sabbath 7:25:09 PM
Everytime I check Bandcamp there is a new Weedian compilation. It's like a golden goose.
Matt Sabbath 7:25:41 PM
https://weedian420.bandcamp.com/album/the-best-releases-of-february-2026 oh chit another egg!
Lizbot (host) 7:26:06 PM
@Randy Marthins - haha! "do you even Bandcamp, bro?" is a great name! I feel like that's me every time I talk to someone who constantly references their spotify playlists!
Ossy 7:27:30 PM
Mia Doi Todd, i recall her from her wahinia valley, 1st on wprb 2021
Matt Sabbath 7:27:49 PM
Love bandcamp, but the band Stuck Pig never sent me a shirt I ordered. Sincerely, Grumpy Ol' Punk
Randy Marthins 7:28:08 PM
@liz - theres a FB group that's always promoting startup bands down here; if they're not on Bandcamp, I'm asking "why not?"
Dale Hazelton 7:28:38 PM
have had my ears on. hey now lizbot and friends...
Randy Marthins 7:29:04 PM
I found one that's pretty good, but they only put music on YouTube?
Lizbot (host) 7:29:31 PM
@Ossy - I love Mia Doi Todd! She's one of the first artists I played on ++good back in 2002! She was a coffee shop/folk show mainstay in and around NYC in the late 90s
Dale Hazelton 7:29:49 PM
found a world of skin cd at the salvay a while back...was super surprised.
Matt Sabbath 7:30:09 PM
Matt Sabbath, on deathbed at age 108: ya know (weakly)...Stuck Pig never sent me that shirt I ordered.(wheeze)
Lizbot (host) 7:30:15 PM
@Matt Sabbath - Time to re-stick the pig or demand a refund! Sending shirts late is punk, tho!
Lizbot (host) 7:30:27 PM
Hi Dale Hazelton!
Matt Sabbath 7:31:00 PM
I am totally giving Stuck Pig a hard time. Good band.
Lizbot (host) 7:31:02 PM
@Randy Marthins - Indeed! Also funny they're on Facebook only?
Matt Sabbath 7:32:03 PM
ah the mighty Swans, nice
Lizbot (host) 7:32:11 PM
@Dale Hazelton - Nice find! Yeah, wouldn't expect it in the Salvation Army, but i can picture that move-out scenario. Unearthed CDs at the bottom of a box tossed in a giveaway pile
Amy Lee 7:32:39 PM
@Matt Sabbath - I bet your shirt was intercepted by some grumpy young punks & they outfitted their dog with it. Keep an eye out
Randy Marthins 7:32:40 PM
There's a Bandcamp I found for a band named The Feat, out of Chicago - I discovered them on an Ultrarunning podcast; the singer is a runner, and "curates" a Taco Bell 50K
Lizbot (host) 7:33:12 PM
@Amy Lee - Oooh, I now am delighting in that image of punk doggo in my head!
Rob from Maryland 🦀 7:33:23 PM
ooh, 🦢🦢!
Matt Sabbath 7:33:40 PM
Amy Lee haaaaaaa! I actually gave a canine friend my bad brains ahirt when it shrunk, and he loved that thing
Matt Sabbath 7:33:50 PM
*shirt
Lizbot (host) 7:33:51 PM
@Randy Marthins - oh dear god. Taco Bell 5K would be a feat indeed. I think that might lead to MANY "glen-slides"
Lizbot (host) 7:34:10 PM
@Rob from Maryland 🦀 - so many swans and Leda too!
Matt Sabbath 7:34:19 PM
a dog in a bad brains shirt just, ya know, makes sense
Lizbot (host) 7:35:13 PM
@Matt Sabbath / @Amy Lee - I am picturing a brown pitty in a Bad Brains shirt now. Reminds me of the dog who used to hang out at Doobie's in Philly and lap spilled beer off the floor
Matt Sabbath 7:35:53 PM
Lizbot haaaaaaaa! Paulie the Beerdrinkin Dog - Agnostic Front
Lizbot (host) 7:38:48 PM
and now for some Phil era
Randy Marthins 7:39:26 PM
My mistake - Craig Woods does NOT do the Taco Bell 50K; he does The Samosa Stumble = "Eat a samosa and run a 1.1-mile loop every 20 minutes until you drop out."
Lizbot (host) 7:40:01 PM
@Matt Sabbath - Yeah, he was pretty much Paulie incarnate! Incaninite! The owner claimed this doggo loved beer
Matt Sabbath 7:40:11 PM
Haaaaaaaa! Fukn love samosas.
Lizbot (host) 7:40:47 PM
@Randy Marthins - oh god, that's cruel! Still...the samosa seems less sadistic than Taco Bell + running
Matt Sabbath 7:41:00 PM
has Solomon done the Samosa Stumble?!
Lizbot (host) 7:41:49 PM
@Randy Marthins - Love a good samosa, but heavy Indian fried triangle is not the breakfast of champions. I need a nap after Indian food!
Ossy 7:42:23 PM
liz - first lso listened to mia's valley on a nice autumn night drive home from 'friend's ' place. took me to another dimmension
JimmyCarter IsMy Hero 7:43:34 PM
taco bell 50 is Outrageous. just heard of it and read hte rules.
Matt Sabbath 7:43:46 PM
true, samosas are like Shepard's Pie compressed into a pyramoidal mass
Lizbot (host) 7:44:48 PM
@Ossy - Aah, perfect autumn night drive music, Mia Doi Todd!
Lizbot (host) 7:45:54 PM
@JimmyCarter IsMy Hero - ughhhhhhh. nooooooo! it's so wrong! The guy chomping taco on the official site looks pained!
John Coffey 7:46:32 PM
Nice Prog cut from Duke. I had gone different musical directions when this came out and later attribute it to Steve Hacket leaving the band.
JimmyCarter IsMy Hero 7:46:34 PM
In Philly is the Rocky 50K Fatass Run. A reenactment of the Rocky 2 musical montage. I did it once long ago, it starts at Rockys house, goes everywhere in the montage and finishes on the museum steps. A lot of people eat at a lot of delis along the path.
Matt Sabbath 7:47:11 PM
haaaaaaaaa love it
Matt Sabbath 7:47:22 PM
sounds like a jawn
John Coffey 7:47:37 PM
And hi Lizbot, streaming most of the show so now access to chat.
JimmyCarter IsMy Hero 7:48:04 PM
Taco bell, you have to eat at 9 of 10 taco bells on the way and have to eat some things I would not eat drunk and hungry at 2am.
Lizbot (host) 7:48:09 PM
Hi John Coffey!
Lizbot (host) 7:49:32 PM
@John Coffey - Glad to have you here!
Lizbot (host) 7:50:13 PM
@John Coffey - I LOVED Duke as a kid and I still adore that album. I like listening to it on planes from beginning to end.
John Coffey 7:50:44 PM
I need to be a speed reader to catch up on nears 3 hours of missed Lizbot chat.
Randy Marthins 7:50:48 PM
@jimmyc - "In Philly is the Rocky 50K Fatass Run." the route was mapped by the recently passed Dan McQuade
Lizbot (host) 7:51:09 PM
@JimmyCarter IsMy Hero - How have not heard of this? That Rocky training montage jumps ALL over the dang place!
Lizbot (host) 7:52:07 PM
@Randy Marthins - RIP Dan McQuade. I still didnt see that Simpsons Philly episode he's briefly in in cartoon form, but i intend to. haven't seen the last...15 years...of The Simpsons...

Matt Sabbath 7:55:21 PM
grazi DJ, that was a downright hoot
John Coffey 7:55:56 PM
@JimmyCarter IsMy Hero Please your Rocky comments, well researched article by the late Dan McQuaid and diss to the runners who participate.
Amy Lee 7:56:00 PM
@John Coffey - I'm with you. Joined late & hard to keep up w/all the stuff mentioned to check out
JimmyCarter IsMy Hero 7:56:32 PM
Yeah, it goes Everywhere, and the run goes there in order, everywhere except the railroad tracks, 3 giant laps around philly.
John Coffey 7:57:17 PM
@Amylee A lot of people hanging at the Lizbot water cooler!
Matt Sabbath 7:57:33 PM
wprb, the gem of Jersey a-shining in the tumult

have a good weekend, liz
Matt Sabbath 7:58:28 PM
see all yas on route 138, take care
Lizbot (host) 7:58:39 PM
@Randy Marthins - My oddball runner dad used to do ultra-distance runs where you basically ran until you dropped! It was the 70s and people were bored I guess
Lizbot (host) 7:58:51 PM
Thanks, Matt Sabbath!
Amy Lee 7:59:09 PM
Ty Lizbot & chat!
Lizbot (host) 7:59:29 PM

@JimmyCarter IsMy Hero - Railroad tracks or go home! As young punks we used to hang out on the train trestle in Grays Ferry. It was undeniably a bad idea!
Lizbot (host) 8:01:19 PM
Hi Bike R! THnaks for listening!
Lizbot (host) 8:01:33 PM
