Makes me feel a lil old (started listening to Muslimgauze in early 1990s), but also proud to see the lineage in this genre.

Yeah they are the OG. Did the cool records with sleeves made from arabic newspapers, including money in releases (an ayatollah dollar), just amazing graphic design that created this arabic-western aesthetic all its own

Apparently Muslimgauze was so hyper-productive his label got albums weekly from him. weekly. Albums. Dude was a powerhaus. The label is still sorting out M-gauze releases decades later.

I think some of his discography is hit or miss

But with that much volume that's bound to happen

Very true. He was self-indulgent as musician, some of those albums with the tropical bird sounds get annoying LOL. I really like Syrinjia, Tandoori Dog, and the OG Zealot album of 1996.

Roff I would agree with that, but also everything is a wave function at root, so to me it's just kind of a spectrum from the ascendant to the brown note.

DJ, I dont know if this is too far in the stoner direction, but Bongripper have a 1 hour 20 minute song called Great Barrier Reefer ye may enjoy. More dark ambient than anything, but made with traditional instruments. Also their Sex Tape/Snuff Film album is very dark ambient.

I am currently going to approach the Philadelphia City councel for their endorsement for Overlord of the Ministry of Filth. I will solve the trash problem!

I did like Werckmeister Harmonies (also a great band by the name of wrekmeister harmonies, if you've heard of them)

what's the 6 hour russian film? I recently made it through 3 out of 4 hours of Siberiade by Konchalovsky, great movie, great soundtrack by Artemyev (who also composed for Tarkovsky!)

I'm not sure that I liked the book better, and I kind of loved the dancing scene

Dau: Degeneration. Director Ilya Khrz. From the infamous russian Dau project, that toed a lotta lines. But Dau: Degeneration is extremely brutal, especially in its final hour. But it's also lovely in the russian snow, etc.

I thought that the esti scenes were much more powerful in the book
