@Mr. Mont - I loved my last car. I could plug old various audio devices into it, it still had a CD player for my mix CDs, and I trusted it far more! I held onto it until it was beyond repairs!

@Mr. Mont, I remember leaning over to roll down the passenger window. My last car that had cranky window was just a little to wide to safely roll down the passenger window while driving

Rob MD Lizbot, I'll be sure to blast Double Plus when the weather is nicer they're slightly above my 3rd floor and only about 30 yards away. We have binoculars too.

@Mr. Mont - Oh yeah, i do not miss the handcrank windows! Probably safer in emergencies where the car's electrical system goes down, though!

@John Coffey - Most of the woodpeckers in my area seem to prefer hanging in the Wissahickon. I hear them often when taking walks there. Haven't had one in my yard in a long time

Just so long as they don't jam on your metal gutters. We have a flicker in his second season of doing that. It's annoying as all get out and we open then slam shut doors and windows to persuade it to stop

Lizbot, I'm building up my biking endurance to bike from Clark Park to Devils Pool and eventually Chestnut Hill via Forbidden Drive. Envious on the homes above the park in Wissahickon.

@Rob from Maryland / @John Coffey - I have yet to see the pair of rock doves return who always nest in the bush directly next to my car and then flutter off in protest to the tree on the other side of the driveway every time I open the door!

@Danosaur🦖 - A bee hitched a ride to Jersey from Philly on my car this Monday. I thought it had flown off when I opened the driver's side, but it was hunkered down in the exact same spot 45 minutes later, i guess very far from its hive1

@Lizbot - When I was a kid in Michigan I used to ride my bike everywhere

Being a kid with a bike made me feel really free

I also used to just take my very energetic labrador on super-long walks where I'd pick a direction and then just keep walking for hours, sometimes having to pivot if i hit a highway. I managed to tired the lab pup out that way, but i got very lost more than once.

This has bounce!

@Danosaur🦖 - I loved my bike. Riding to the store to buy our own snacks made my best friend and I feel very grown up when we were in 5th grade.

@Danosaur🦖 - My daughter went to camp in Michigan for a couple of summers and got marooned in Traverse City for a couple extra days when her flight from that tiny airport back to Philly got canceled. She actually had SO much fun because her friend was stuck there too and they were two teens on the town in Traverse City for a couple days, hitting up the thrift stores and going to the lake. My in-laws were marooned there with her and let her just hang around and explore with her friend.

@Danosaur🦖 - She still brings up how beautiful she found Michigan!

@Lizbot - My best friend's aunt had a cabin on the lake in Petosky near Traverse City and we would go up there in the summer. So fun

@Danosaur🦖- Sound idyllic! I drove from Philly to Traverse City the first summer she attended that camp, dropped her off, then drove to the Mackinac Ferry and spent a fews days on Mackinac Island, dodging horse manure and fudge samples!

@Randy Marthins - I had never been to Michigan before that roadtrip, but my mother-in-law went to college there and talked up Mackinac. It was a bit too touristy on the main drag, but I liked walking up in the middle woodsy section of the island. Too many horses for this non-horse-girl, though1

I read it is easier to pick up Spanish later as an adult than to pick up French. Never took Italian, but one bonus of taking a lot of Spanish and then having to use it as an adult is that it made me understand some Italian

Drove into Texas Hill Country to visit a cave with the smallest bat species in the world and got bombarded by mosquitos just outside the cave because that bat population was dwindlings, so I have a deep appreciation for the bats!

To me, Donovan's double album A Gift from a Flower ~ with tracks like "Sun" is one of his best. Interestingly, that album was created after Donovan stopped using any drugs and encouraged his listeners to do likewise.

@Richard of Rocky Hill - I love that double-album! Darla Records back in the late 90s/early 2000s put out a tribute to Donovan featuring covers by the twee bands on their label and they cleverly titled it "A Gift from a Garden to a Flower"
