tandy how do you usually record shows bc im doing it by like connecting my stereo to my PC and recording using OBS, should I do it a different way do you think

Okay first off that's a legendary method of recording the station LOL

haha i dont really know how to do it.. lol

But second I just recorded by capturing the stream on VLC. For my own purpose I set the record quality to ogg vorbis at 112 kbps, but mp3 is fine too. The stream outputs at around 96kbps but it's variable and has spikes up to like 105, I just set it to 112 for extra headroom without a huge impact on file size.

Recording PC playback with audacity is possible, but windows likes to turn on audio effects and some other crap at random which just destroys quality so I don't recommend that anymore unless you're using an ancient like windows 7 build lol

Honestly digitally recording FM must sound really cool, especially if it's the standard broadcast and not HD.

I'm still salty that an entire season of recordings a few years ago was ruined because of the windows sound settings defaults. Just scraped off any semblance of bass and made the volume suuuuper low.

yeah when I initially plugged it in it was like super muffled and compressed like I was hearing it through 20ft of water... I went to the windows settings and flicked one switch and then it was normal

they were like, "lets make windows 10 again but add a bunch of new spyware and make the AI integration impossible to remove.... yeah!!!"

they have swapped the right ctrl key for a copilot button

I love how even when I install joykey or whatever to change that, if I remap the copilot key it just straight up STOPS working. Had to sacrifice right alt on my work laptop to have right ctrl

and you have to do some weird obscure shit to rebind it properly

I'll switch to Mac OS before I ever go 11, but I'd probably just do either Linux or an illegitimate Server build.

Alright time to hit the road, I'm keeping it locked on FM!

Apple has its own frustrations but they're somehow marginally better for data privacy, even moreso if Google locks down Android like they're promising to.
