He was taught violin by his father, Parur Sundaram Iyer (from Kerala), who was well versed in both Carnatic and Hindustani systems of Indian classical music. This recording was originally issued by HMV (EMI) in 1983.

| Pannalal Ghosh Chandramauli - Bilampat & Drut Flute His Master's Voice 1970 Amal Jyoti "Pannalal" Ghosh (1911-1960) was born in Barisal, Bengal (currently Bangladesh). His initial training was by his father on sitar, and later under Allauddin Khan.
His brother Nikhil Ghosh is a tabla player, but the tabla player on this record was not identified.

Based mostly in Delhi, he was a disciple of Amir Khan of the Indore gharana. While is Delhi, he was an All India Radio artist, and served as Guru at Sriram Bharatiya Kala Kendra. He died in 1996.
