From 1969. Looking Glass (not to be confused with the 70s soft-rock one-hit-wonders of “Brandy [You’re a Fine Girl]” fame.) But, as one might expect of a band this ahead of their time, the Looking Glass were soon to disappear down the rabbit hole.

With their precise, antiseptic vocals, throbbing bombastic bass, guitars akin to an alter-kilter duel between Eddie Cochran and Robert Fripp and cartographic lock-and-groove percussion, The Monorchid charged ahead with Who Put Out the Fire?, their first and, sadly, last release on Touch and Go Records. Weeks after the five members of The Monorchid finished tracking their Touch and Go debut, they decided to call it quits. The Monorchid originated when Chris Thomson and Chris Hamley of D.C.'s Circus Lupus joined forces with bassist Andy Coronado, guitarist Andy Cone and drummer Tom Allnutt. Their move to Touch and Go came after a short stint on D.C.'s Dischord which yielded their first full-length record in early 1997, Let Them Eat.

Taxi Girl were a French new wave band, adopting the New Romantic aesthetics of the time, such as clashing red and black clothing, synthesizer-led songs, and taking influence from mythology and literature. The group existed between 1978 and 1986, producing 5 mini-albums, and one full-length album, Seppuku.

Moderne was a pioneering French minimal synth-pop band active from 1979 to 1981, known for their electronic, Kraftwerk-influenced sound. Founded in Tours by Gérard Lévy and Thierry Teyssou, they released two LPs, including L'Espionne Aimait La Musique (1981).
