I've only been to the Village Vanguard once. Long ago saw Larry C. with Stanley Cowell.

Listening from the other room, I was like wow what a great cover of Epistrophy, lol.

Whenever I hear the great American Jazz players in recordings from the 60's in various European countries, I presume it was funded by the CIA. Maybe, maybe not. And I'm not complaining. Different times.

Europe seemed to do much more to document the U.S. jazz scene than we did iurselves, unfortunately...

I guess I am thinking of the 'Jazz Ambassadors' program funded by the State department starting in 1956.

I did not know Dolphy was only 36 when he died! Sources say he had becomed disillusioned with the American reception of the direction his music was taking. Someone over there near Bakers Basin played some other recordings which precede 'Last Date' Pretty cool.

But anyway, Dolphy was NOT CIA. lol Glad to know that.

There is a book drop outside the library here in Phoenixville. The Book Van was here today, they were taking ut the returned books, I guess to take them somewhere to burn them.

Do they still hold the NY State fair in Syracuse? Actually the PA Farm show may be going on now.

I was last in Syracuse in 1966. Home of Elvis, and the Ancient Greeks.

So the NY State fair, there was this sort of game being played. IT was like a lot of orange ping pong balls rolling over cupcake trays. So I guess if the ping pong balls dropped into your cupcake tray, you won a Plush. I got sepatarted from the family and got picked up by the State Trooers. They offered me ice cream
