Lester Wiggs 3:03:00 PM
Surprise surprise surprise. Hey Jerry!
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 3:03:50 PM
Hi Lester. Thank you! I felt like a comedian who wanted to ask "Hey, is my mic on?"
Lester Wiggs 3:04:25 PM
just don't drop it, and all will be fine. 100% classic track
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 3:04:35 PM
You have been a good addition to the Cuckoo chat, I wanted to let you know. Others have said so also.
Lester Wiggs 3:05:31 PM
*blushes*
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 3:05:46 PM
This was 1969!
Russell Woessner 3:08:12 PM
Sock it to me!
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 3:08:34 PM
Hahaha. We are comfortable with that phrase.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 3:09:16 PM
Russ, We are now 3! You, me, and Lester!
Bob Borowsky 3:09:47 PM
Great piece Jerry!!! I bought this on used vinyl about 40 years ago and still have it!
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 3:10:21 PM
Hi Bob! Right on! I respect you for still having it!
Larry Tenders 3:11:25 PM
Everyone's rushing to Bob's house - after the program, of course.
Roffle 0x7EA 3:11:27 PM
So what's all this jazz?
Roffle 0x7EA 3:11:38 PM
HI
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 3:12:05 PM
What the Hell is goin' on? This ain't no Mosh Pit, this ain't no party!
Bob Borowsky 3:12:12 PM
Come on over! Just bring some beers :)
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 3:14:04 PM
Right on Bob. Larry, what kind of beer are you bringing? Roffle, what are you drinking today? Russ, who is here,, drinks Bourbon Barrel-aged dark beers!
Lester Wiggs 3:15:27 PM
Ha Bob... I wonder what ever became of my copy. Gone with the wind. As an aside- my record collection has been rifled by junkies at least twice. Lol Coxhill, Ear of the Beholder ended up in a shop over on Girard avenue. The theif admiddet it, I went to the shop and asked if he had seen a copy of that particular record recently. He affirmed, and I told him the story. No worries, easily found on u tube.
Roffle 0x7EA 3:16:27 PM
It's dry January, but I have some great Honey Green Tea going.
Patrick White 3:17:35 PM
Greetings to Gordski and his listeners. IM NOT RENA a great title for a country western song
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 3:19:07 PM
That Lol Coxhill album may still be on Girard Ave.
Lester Wiggs 3:19:18 PM
Dry January? It was raining like heck yesterday.
Bob Borowsky 3:19:54 PM
Lester, that sounds like a story right out of "On the Road"!
Lester Wiggs 3:20:51 PM
Actually, Jerry, I think I purchased it at I want to say Rooks and Becords, but no, it was the Book Trader at 4th and South. Had a label on it, 'this is a great record'. Took me 20 years to understand why.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 3:23:22 PM
One of my daughters is doing that. I can't participate, Russ turned me on to a beer sale at Attic Brewing and now I'm good into February.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 3:24:15 PM
Hi Patrick, that is a good one! Who would sing that one?
Patrick White 3:24:43 PM
I am observing Dry January. I vow not to spill a drop
Patrick White 3:25:45 PM
I would go with Tanya Tucker
Lester Wiggs 3:27:15 PM
[Johnny Cash – deep and growly] We got married in a fever, hotter than a pepper sprout We've been talkin' 'bout Princeton, ever since we signed out But when I call the station, sayin' "Baby, play my tune" They keep sayin' "Shock Wave's on," and it's only noon [June Carter – sassy and quick] I'm not Rena, no I'm not Rena I'm your June, honey, don't you forget-a You want metal on the airwaves, heavy and loud? But you're callin' for Rena when I'm right here proud!
Lester Wiggs 3:27:27 PM
srry AI.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 3:27:32 PM
Lester is more of a Charles Bukowski type. Russ is a William Burroughs type. Patrick is a T.S. Elliot meets Buddy Hackett
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 3:29:35 PM
Patrick, Lester, we got a bunch of intellectshools around here
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 3:30:36 PM
Bob, I'm sorry to ask but what the heck: was your father a publisher?
Patrick White 3:31:04 PM
What a great radio Sunday.Started off with a great Towe broadcast tribute to Bela Barton then a rebroadcast of the late David Johansens program. Now Towe hitting it out of the park
Lester Wiggs 3:31:17 PM
Jerry- this keeps coming back up. Hard Work- referencing Handy of course. Bukowski quote--"I’m not a great fucker. I don’t go around fucking women by the dozens... It’s kind of drab. It’s hard work."
Russell Woessner 3:31:32 PM
Whenever I hear East of the Sun, I picture John Gilmore singing it with the Sun Ra Arkestra.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 3:31:52 PM
Yeah Russ, classic memory.
Patrick White 3:32:17 PM
John Gilmore unheralded hero who kept the Arkestra humming after Ras passing
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 3:32:36 PM
Patrick... and a mensch.
Richard Mitnick 3:33:44 PM
Hey Jerome, guess who. Just happened into the digiteria and away from the TV and heard the theme song. Have a great show for these lucky people.
Patrick White 3:33:53 PM
Just found out despite their beautiful harmonizing together Brook Benton and Dinah Washington hated each other. Musical teammate hate is the best!!
Bob Borowsky 3:34:54 PM
LOL. Not at all. I'll be damned - I only have the CD version - can't find the vinyl. I know I had it at some point - maybe that dark period where I got rid of some vinyl thinking "now I have perfect CD sound forever..." NOT!!!
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 3:35:07 PM
Lester, thank you for your literary knowledge and contributions. Bukowski wasn't a braggart like Henry Miller, plus he was probably too drunk to have too many. He required a certain kind of derelict.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 3:36:20 PM
Thank you, Richard! That was so nice I appreciate it, I am bursting with digiteria!
Bob Borowsky 3:36:24 PM
hey now... OK, Henry Miller was a braggart, but what a BRILLIANT one he was! :)
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 3:37:10 PM
Bob, a hero of mine!
Patrick White 3:37:45 PM
Bukowski worked at Postal Service.my honorary soul brother along with John Prine,Sherman Hemsley.William Faulkner.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 3:37:52 PM
Patrick, I like that Dinah/Brook story!
Lester Wiggs 3:39:00 PM
There was a film out a few years ago called Barfly. Mickey Rourke- himself a lush- played across the great Faye Dunaway. In one bar scene Bukowski himself appears in a cameo, as the camera tracks up the bar.
Patrick White 3:39:14 PM
Dinah was tough hombre. She was married to Lions Legend Night Train Layne.
Bob Borowsky 3:39:59 PM
Glad to hear it Jerry! I've been seeing in the news lately: kids don't read anymore... VERY sad!
Lester Wiggs 3:40:07 PM
The reason I write letters rather than place phone calls, is that I do not wish for the postal system to become an anachronism in our time.
Patrick White 3:40:07 PM
I watched a double bill of Barfly and Ironweed and gave up drinking for 3 years
Patrick White 3:41:14 PM
When I worked midnight shift I would go to a bar at 8am in Center City. Firenze tavern. Very Bukowskiesque
Lester Wiggs 3:41:14 PM
I read a few of Miller's dirty books.
Russell Woessner 3:41:16 PM
Patrick, Another honorary postal soul brother is Greg Ross. And me for 89 days!
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 3:41:26 PM
30 years ago I met a bassist for for Johnny Hartman, a singer who I deeply admired for his tenderness and beautiful phrasing. Slobbering after I found out this bassist played with Hartman, I asked him "What was it like?" his reply? "He was a pr*&k"
Lester Wiggs 3:41:59 PM
UPS for three days. Can I get into the clubhouse?
Lester Wiggs 3:42:45 PM
well back to separating the art from the artist. I heard bad stories about Buddy Rich
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 3:44:08 PM
Barfly? You've got your "Gone With the Wind" and you've got your "Barfly". I'm talking alot but have to tell this story: I was in a small fancy restaurant in Atlantic City 30 years ago and someone came in and screamed "Barfly" at the top of his lungs and scared the hell out of everybody.
Lester Wiggs 3:44:16 PM
Firenz, was that under the tracks on 11th?
Lester Wiggs 3:45:19 PM
And then we retreated to Ventnor? Do tell Jerry.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 3:46:11 PM
Bob, glad we share an affinity for Miller, I still quote him weekly! Lester, you are the man, the man about town. They used to have articles by guys like you, no longer popular or fun.
Lester Wiggs 3:46:14 PM
Remember the story of the piano tuner they tried to run out of AC? Epic.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 3:47:04 PM
How about this double feature, Barfly and Atlantic City?
Patrick White 3:47:44 PM
I would pair King of Marvin Gardens with Atlantic City
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 3:47:59 PM
Excellente!
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 3:48:28 PM
Who needs an Eagles game?
Patrick White 3:49:10 PM
It’s snowing here in Northeast Jerry. What will be todays Niners excuse. The Cold, the Wind,The snow .the Locusts
Lester Wiggs 3:50:45 PM
I have a dog eared copy of Tropic of Cancer around here somewhere. I don't really want to find it, because there is a picture of my first love betwixt the pages. Then I would cry Rubies like a Stalwart Warrior. Seeking what? The best lay I have ever had. First principles. Imagine what you want to see manifested
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 3:53:05 PM
Perfect place for that picture. Sad to hear about her fine quality in the past tense. Bring her back!
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 3:58:00 PM
Patrick, they will claim that Eagles player who got fined the last two weeks gauged somebody's eyes.
Patrick White 4:00:01 PM
Still angry at San Francisco for stealing The Warriors!
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 4:02:21 PM
Absolutely! Patrick, then there was the time my mother jumped on an elevator with Wilt Chamberlain at the Jack Tar Hotel in SF to get me his autograph.
Patrick White 4:03:36 PM
Jack Tar Hotelsadly gone but The Cow Palace still standing
Lester Wiggs 4:04:34 PM
Wilt of the Overbrook HS. he made claims of prowess. You are Wilts son? So Alex Jones was right? lolool kidding Jerry.
Patrick White 4:04:46 PM
A Bob Perkins staple.Yes Indeedy!,
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 4:05:04 PM
Nice!
Lester Wiggs 4:05:23 PM
the cow palace. survived the 1987 earthquake.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 4:05:34 PM

Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 4:17:16 PM
Hi Adam, now we can really have some fun! Thank you for your salutations and Sunday wishes!
Lester Wiggs 4:18:59 PM
The advance is only temporary. It will regress to the mean. Too much money staked.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 4:19:22 PM
Everybody listen to these lyrics
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 4:19:35 PM

Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 4:29:25 PM
Good knowledge, Lester! And yes, this a classic
Lester Wiggs 4:35:47 PM
Jazz, for Miller, embodied celebration and defiance in a decaying world, aligning with his themes of embracing the present, chaos, and transcendence So Miller perceives a decaying world. Cool. I love the present.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 4:37:11 PM
Yes and fantastic. Brilliant. The essence of Miller. Bravo, Lester
Lester Wiggs 5:11:07 PM

Mark Twain went bankrupt investing in printing technology. It was a business he obviously had knowledge of. Finally the Linotype machine took over the print world.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 5:26:25 PM
Interesting! Sounds like some of my investments
Lester Wiggs 5:26:39 PM
I guess you reminded me with this blues session. Twain would have known.
Lester Wiggs 5:27:55 PM
Child, you cut me to the quick
Lester Wiggs 5:29:15 PM

Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 5:29:46 PM
Ears, sorry I missed you, sorry. Thank you for tuning in!
Lester Wiggs 5:36:46 PM
chess records, you used to love me.
Roffle 0x7EA 5:37:42 PM
It's a good time to hear some blues after a few hours into starting a sort and re-box project, that looked much faster and easier on paper. Work that overtime, buy that album.
Ears 5:40:26 PM
Hi all, I'm just hearing, cookin' and commenting. Yes. The nausea blows. I feel that daily.
Space Cowboy 5:40:48 PM
Man that's sad
Space Cowboy 5:41:56 PM
Been listening for hour and a half all killer stuff
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 5:42:43 PM
Roffle, you are an organized and industrious lad, despite having achieved cosmic conciousness 20 years ago
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 5:43:16 PM
Thank you, Space Cowboy. Love that! Thank you!
Roffle 0x7EA 5:45:39 PM
I think we all get our 15 seconds of cosmic consciousness.
Lester Wiggs 5:46:26 PM
Monk of Bismuth. I do love keeping my foot on you. You can make it if you try. If only you were closer to the low interest rates.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 5:48:33 PM
This track is cosmic consciousness-causing
Lester Wiggs 5:48:40 PM
I went to the Valley Forge casino about 6 months ago. I was blowing on the dice for good luck. Croupier told me to stop doing that.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 5:49:19 PM
That is really, really sick
Lester Wiggs 5:49:36 PM
Lady Luck. I wanted to play 6 lost about
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 5:50:11 PM
Did youo get an explanation?
Lester Wiggs 5:54:08 PM
Quite honestly is was je nais se qua. i don't know what. Most of the pit bossed were Asian, as were the croupiers. They were very polite, just asked me to not 'blow' on the dice Did not get a room upstairs.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 5:56:31 PM
That's Un-American! Baby needs new shoes!
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 5:58:40 PM
