Greetings!
Lizbot (host) 5:03:34 PM
Greetings, Number 6!
Number 6 5:05:45 PM
Did you see the new room upstairs? It's nicely fitted out.
Roffle 0x7EA 5:05:52 PM
HNY! Emphasis on new, all the way!
Zach 5:06:07 PM
This song is perfect, Lizbot
Lizbot (host) 5:06:44 PM
Hi Zach! I love this song so much, glad it's hitting right!
Lizbot (host) 5:06:57 PM
HNY, Roffle 0x7EA!
Lizbot (host) 5:07:31 PM
Here's the other New Year's classic I had to play!
Zach 5:07:56 PM
I love all the versions of it they recorded through the Jordan lake session pandemic albums
Lizbot (host) 5:08:08 PM
@Number 6 - Didn't see it yet! Looking forward to it. I'm in studio, just didn't peek up there yet
Lizbot (host) 5:09:00 PM
@Zach - Yes! I DJ'd my brother-in-law's wedding this past October and he and his wife are huge MG fans and requested a song from the Jordan Lake Sessions
Zach 5:09:56 PM
My sister read “riches and wonders” at my wedding ceremony, love the goats
Number 6 5:10:44 PM
@Lizbot- When Mike is there he usually has it unlocked and available for use.
Lizbot (host) 5:13:08 PM
@Zach - That's great! The only band my brother-in-law & sister-in-law love more then TMG, is The National, so they had a giant Geese of Beverly Road singalong at the end of the night!
Lizbot (host) 5:14:57 PM
@Zach - As far as Mountain Goats, they requested: Training Montage, Mark On You, Snow Owl, Cry for Judas and Tollund Man! Definitely ended up being the band with the most songs played during the reception
Lizbot (host) 5:15:39 PM
@Number 6 - He's usually gone by the time I'm here at 4. Sometimes I run into him, but usually not. I can't wait to see my rug in that space!
Zach 5:16:40 PM
That’s great! We had a surprise presentation of “Mack the Knife” from the next door neighbor at my wife’s family beach house where we had the reception. Biggest song of the night was uncontrollable urge by DEVO though
Lizbot (host) 5:19:20 PM
@Zach - I love Uncontrollable Urge! My favorite concert of Fall 2025 was seeing DEVO with B-52s in Holmdel, NJ! Mark Mothersbaugh is amazing. He was diving and sliding on his knees across stage over and over! I don't know how he does it!
Zach 5:19:52 PM
My brother in law was there!
Zach 5:21:44 PM
Still jealous honestly haha
Lizbot (host) 5:22:26 PM
@Zach - It's funny you mention Mack the Knife because I was reading about Marianne Faithfull's mom, Eva von Sacher-Masoch, (related to the Masoch who wrote "Venus In Furs"!,) who was a dancer in Max Reinhardt's company and danced in Kurt Weill / Bertolt Brecht productions, so she probably heard the original performances of Mack the Knife!
Lizbot (host) 5:23:40 PM
@Zach - Great show! Only issue was the PNC Bank Arts Center was really really slow to get the crowd into the venue. There was such a long line going way down the length of the parking lot to enter the venue, I missed opener Lene Lovich, who I love!
Lizbot (host) 5:25:56 PM
@Zach - I had seen DEVO at The Met not that long before that show, but I love them so much, I made a plan to get to both shows. Slept in Long Branch and spent the next day in Asbury Park! Made a whole weekend trip out of it! Was nice to see The B-52s too, though they weren't as on top of their game as other times I've seen them, but it was their farewell tour, so I had to see them one last time!
Zach 5:29:52 PM
He had said something similar about the crowd, and that he thought the B52s were playing first so they were a little late
Number 6 5:31:15 PM
Nutz, I wish I could have seen the B52s, etc., but I had a scheduling conflict. :(
Lizbot (host) 5:31:16 PM
@Zach - I think the reason The B-52s went second was due to the farewell tour element. But yeah, I don't think anyone expected it to take THAT long to get into that venue! It was crazy
Lizbot (host) 5:32:58 PM
@Number 6 - The whole "Cosmic De-volution" show was logistically tricky for me, but I made arrangements months in advance to make it a mini-trip! Had to get dog-sitting and babysitting and everything! But was worth it!
Roffle 0x7EA 5:45:44 PM
Did you hire porters and Sherpas??
Roffle 0x7EA 5:46:59 PM
That would be my next move
Lizbot (host) 5:47:24 PM
@Roffle 0x7EA - haha, no, just bugged my in-laws to take in my teen for the night! The trickier thing was getting dog-sitting and coordinating with my friends who joined george & I. They have two small kids, so it took a lot of planning to be on the same page, but we all crashed at a hotel in Long Branch that night and watched a Friday the 13th marathon in the hotel room since it was Halloweentimes
Roffle 0x7EA 5:48:41 PM
Pretty close though. :)
Lizbot (host) 5:49:00 PM
@Roffle 0x7EA - More or less the same!
sean burns 5:49:43 PM
Sagittarius! Thanks!
Lizbot (host) 5:50:04 PM
Hi Sean! Love this album!
Lizbot (host) 5:50:46 PM
@Sean Burns - I hope you're having a good, or at least warm!, New Year's Day!
sean burns 5:53:08 PM
Same back to you Lizbot!
Zach 5:53:16 PM
Thought this might be Haley Henderickx for a second
Zach 5:54:19 PM
Was very wrong haha. Some similar vocals happening
Lizbot (host) 5:56:50 PM
@Zach - Could see how you'd make that mistake, though!
Rob from Merryland 🦀 6:26:19 PM
Hi everyone
Lizbot (host) 6:26:40 PM
Hi Rob from Merryland 🦀! Happy 2026!
Lizbot (host) 6:27:38 PM
@Rob from Merryland 🦀 - How has your 2026 been so far?
Rob from Merryland 🦀 6:31:10 PM
@Lizbot, after our family thing was over, I zoomed out and saw the Snowy Owl that's been at National Airport since the 25th. An exciting way to start my birding year
Rob from Merryland 🦀 6:31:21 PM
How has your 2026 been?
Lizbot (host) 6:32:33 PM
@Rob from Merryland 🦀 - Oh wow! I've never seen a Snowy Owl outside of an aviary or zoo! Great sighting!
Lizbot (host) 6:33:35 PM
@Rob from Merryland 🦀 - On NYE, we had tickets to JOhn Oliver at The Met in Philly last night. It was an early show, and we made it home by 10 and watch the series finale of Stranger Things with our teen, who grew up on the show.
Lizbot (host) 6:35:10 PM
@Rob from Merryland 🦀 - Today I had to pack up before the show because I'm driving straight to NYC with George & Hattie directly after the show so that she's in NYC early for a [CHILLY] college tour tomorrow morning! Which means George & Hattie are wandering around Princeton with the dog right now! Thankfully they found some open businesses that allow dogs!
Rob from Merryland 🦀 6:40:50 PM
@Lizbot, NYE sound good. We stayed home and listened to WPRB until the 10 pm hour. Good luck with the college tour and staying warm with the dog!
Lizbot (host) 6:43:16 PM
@Rob from Merryland 🦀 - Thanks! I wish these colleges had more tours in the summertime! Most are during weekdays and don't go later than 2 pm, so they conflict with high school schedule. We have to take advantage of Winter Break to get in a tour, though we will be freezing walking around campus!
addie 🐍🐍🐍 plum 6:52:25 PM
…*summoned*…
Lizbot (host) 6:52:52 PM
haha! Hi addie 🐍🐍🐍 plum! Happy New Year to you and yr family!
Number 6 6:53:12 PM
I had this Jethro Tull album on an 8 track and loved it! Brings back memories.
Lizbot (host) 6:53:34 PM
@Number 6 - One cannot deny the power of TULL
Lizbot (host) 6:53:47 PM
@Number 6 - Or rock flute, for that matter
Number 6 6:54:08 PM
I'll say!
addie 🐍🐍🐍 plum 6:56:08 PM
@lizbot how was John Oliver??
Lizbot (host) 6:57:45 PM
I worked for a guy many years ago who was a man of very few words. We'd go days without talking, doing our own thing, he liked it that way, a real hermit, so I'll never forget the time Jethro Tull came on the radio, he paused from his work, looked really introspective, and then just said "Hrrrrmmmm, FLUTE!"
Lizbot (host) 6:59:39 PM
@addie 🐍🐍🐍 plum - Oh it was really good! Also enjoyed the Brooks Wheelan opening set, which I had no real expectations for, though I'd seen him in snippets online
Lizbot (host) 7:01:48 PM
@addie 🐍🐍🐍 plum - Oliver is very animated! He kicked over a metal stool! His set was really long, but worth it! He also didn't get thrown off at all when a few audience members tried to participate, and worked it into the set well. He also tried to imitate an eagle call for the Eagles fans in the audience to hilarious effect!
Number 6 7:13:00 PM
I just saw this: MTV isn't completely ending, but its dedicated global music channels (like MTV Music, MTV 80s, MTV 90s, Club MTV, MTV Live) went dark on December 31, 2025, marking the end of an era for music-focused broadcasting after 44 years, while the main, reality-focused MTV HD channel continues. This shift reflects declining traditional TV viewership, with Paramount Global retiring these music channels to focus on streaming and reality programming, though it's seen as a symbolic end to MT
Number 6 7:13:49 PM
MTV's original music-video dominance.
addie 🐍🐍🐍 plum 7:16:02 PM
Oh my word, that all sounds like a hoot, @Lizbot!
Lizbot (host) 7:17:50 PM
@Number 6 - Yeah, I heard about that. It's a bit sad. I hate reality TV, and I know MTV has been focusing mainly on that for a very long time now, so I admittedly haven't watched their music channels in many years, but "120 Minutes" meant a lot to me in the 90s, especially during the Matt Pinfield years, with less mainstream music, and for a stretch, in the late 90s, I'd watch "Amp", debuted techno videos, after 120 Minutes
Lizbot (host) 7:19:35 PM
@addie 🐍🐍🐍 plum - It was fun! I've never seen any of those Jon Stewart-era Daily Show correspondents live...Or at least I don't think so...I have to think about that for a moment! There were a LOT of them! I almost saw a free outdoor John Hodgman show in NYC during the pandemic, but other plans got in the way
Number 6 7:21:36 PM
I remember there was another channel where you could call in and they would play a requested video for $1.99 or something. Need to play Money For Nothing in remembrance.
Rob from Merryland 🦀 7:25:29 PM
From what I remember reading last night, those MTV channels went dark in Europe and I think Australia. North American ones will probably go dark at some point in the future
Lizbot (host) 7:25:47 PM
@Number 6 - My next door neighbor childhood friend and I watched a lot of MTV together at his house in the early MTV years because my parents didn't have cable yet. That was the no-commercials, music-only era, and we got very excited when our favorites popped up. We used to have Weird Al singalongs
Lizbot (host) 7:26:10 PM
@Rob from Merryland 🦀 - The non-music ones?
Rob from Merryland 🦀 7:26:44 PM
One of those MTV channels' last song was "Video Killed The Radio Star" which is of course the very first video MTV broadcast
Rob from Merryland 🦀 7:27:41 PM
@Lizbot, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MTV#Termination_of_music_programming
Lizbot (host) 7:27:46 PM
@Rob from Merryland 🦀 - oh man, that would make me nostalgic! Yeah, I always think of that song WRT MTV's beginnings
Rob from Merryland 🦀 7:27:47 PM
"Parent company Paramount announced on October 10, 2025, that its United Kingdom and Ireland channels MTV Music, MTV 80s, MTV 90s, Club MTV, and MTV Live will all stop broadcasting after December 31, 2025. The broadcaster's "flagship" channel, MTV HD, will remain on air, showing reality series such as Dating Naked UK, Teen Mom, and Geordie Shore.[137][138] North American channels will remain unaffected but will also be evaluated later.[139]"
Rob from Merryland 🦀 7:28:12 PM
"After going off the air in the UK and Ireland, the aforementioned MTV channels will be switched off in France, Germany, Austria, Poland, Hungary, Australia, and Brazil,[140][141] in what Euronews journalist David Mouriquand called "a sign of changing times". "
Rob from Merryland 🦀 7:28:40 PM
and "As of January 2026, MTV only carries music videos in five regions: United States (through a 1 hour weekly block on the main network and several side channels on cable and Pluto TV), Japan, Israel, Taiwan, and India. "
Lizbot (host) 7:29:54 PM
@Rob from Merryland 🦀 - Oh, their parent company is Paramount?! No WONDER they're getting slashed. Paramount has been slashing programming left and right.
Lizbot (host) 7:30:04 PM
"Geordie Shore"! Haha!
TAndy 7:31:17 PM
Love this song 💙

@Rob from Merryland 🦀 - I have a 1970ish British folk-rock album by Trees with an excellent song called "Geordie" and the album title is "On the Shore"! "Geordie Shore!

@TAndy - Were you up for NYE? I didn't even noticed when midnight passed, but I was up until around 2 am
TAndy 7:37:04 PM
I was up! The neighborhood was lit up for a good half hour before it started to settle down a bit
Lizbot (host) 7:37:43 PM
@TAndy - haha, I was in a rowdy crowd until about 9:30, but then I went home and just watched a show with the kid!
John Coffey 7:49:24 PM
