Lester Wiggs 5:08:32 PM
Adam Elk showed up in Jerry Gordons chat last Friday. OK, the voice is unmistakable.
Esoterica (host) 5:08:54 PM
oh sweet, Lester! wish I was in the chat:)
Hibernal Roffle 5:09:00 PM
Best of shows, are the best. Takes a bit of planing I would think.
Esoterica (host) 5:09:03 PM
and hi...
Lester Wiggs 5:09:42 PM
I was kind of stunned. I have the first CD of Mommyheads. Jerry did have Don Was on maybe 6 months ago.
Esoterica (host) 5:10:09 PM
what?! that is so cool
Esoterica (host) 5:10:23 PM
but to be expected with jerry - he knows so many people
Lester Wiggs 5:10:58 PM

Jerry is amazingly clear.
Esoterica (host) 5:13:17 PM

Hibernal Roffle 5:13:20 PM
He really leveled me up in jazz. Love that shit!
Esoterica (host) 5:13:37 PM
oh yeah! I used to go to his old store, too. 3rd street jazz
Lester Wiggs 5:13:45 PM

David Shortell 5:14:16 PM
Happy Bo Diddley's Birthday.
Lester Wiggs 5:15:30 PM
200 block Market street was so ghetto. Street Corner? Cheap shirts. I think Larry Robin even had a bookstore there. What is Steven Starr doing thses days?
Esoterica (host) 5:15:36 PM
howdy David, that is so cool, didn't know, I may have to play the stones and Bo Diddley back to back.
Esoterica (host) 5:16:12 PM
I was there 93-99
Lester Wiggs 5:17:20 PM
OK I had already move back into the basement apartment at Griffith observatory
Esoterica (host) 5:18:02 PM
but not in the actual observatory, right? lol
Lester Wiggs 5:18:14 PM
We were working with Manly hall at that point
Esoterica (host) 5:19:06 PM
oh, wild!
Esoterica (host) 5:19:26 PM
he died in '90
Hibernal Roffle 5:20:21 PM
I love Dylan, makes me wonder what I would do if I was Jesus for a day.
Lester Wiggs 5:20:40 PM
WTH was his name. Daniel. His wife outlived him. ok shout out to Esoterica!
G Jax 5:20:48 PM
Yeah, cool to come out to the car and this Dylan tune is playing. Song will always remind me of a certain place in time. But what I hate is when I hear something like this like Bob Dylan on a station. I normally wouldn't hear him. I have to do a quick Google to make sure he didn't die or something. Bob is alive and well, thank the Lord for that.
Esoterica (host) 5:22:20 PM
I know what you mean (the panic!), G Jax.
Esoterica (host) 5:22:24 PM
and hi!
Esoterica (host) 5:22:47 PM
one time I played a couple of Elton John songs and will though he died.
G Jax 5:23:08 PM
That's exactly how I learned of Jeff Beck's passing.
Esoterica (host) 5:24:09 PM
wow
Lester Wiggs 5:24:16 PM
Manly P. Hall died in 1990 at the age of 89. He succumbed to the hands of his greedy, thieving assistant, Daniel Fritz. While the evil conman did not abscond with..... My ex was there. She tells a different story. According to her, he saved his life, etc. who knows.
Carlos Ramone 5:24:27 PM
@DJ ..you mentioned 3rd street jazz. Any show at the Khyber required extra time so I could take a lap around 3rd street
Hibernal Roffle 5:24:39 PM
I really have had a bit much of the dirge of this guy is now dead tributes. Some years are brutal.
Esoterica (host) 5:26:03 PM
hey Carlos, ha, I get it
Esoterica (host) 5:26:28 PM
interesting story, lester
Carlos Ramone 5:27:17 PM
I remember buying Paul’s Boutique there…didn’t come off the turntable for about a month
Esoterica (host) 5:27:48 PM
wow I can see why - classic
Lester Wiggs 5:28:39 PM
Anthony Drexel had his original office on 3rd street. He was the senior partner of Drexel Morgan. The offices were demolished in the 70's There were protests. He was an art collector. Uncle of the first American born saint. I think. whatevs.
G Jax 5:28:54 PM
Cory Hansen, huh? Mmmmmbop??
Esoterica (host) 5:29:53 PM
haha nope
David Shortell 5:30:53 PM
I learned of Bo's demise during the Ergs' impromptu performance of "Say Man" that night at the Court Tavern.
Esoterica (host) 5:31:15 PM
oh wow, david
G Jax 5:32:26 PM
Come on one of those three have to be a Cory. Ha ha ha. That kind of reminds me of a funny story that I heard somewhere about Ryan Adams who already seems to be a temperamental baby and people would show up with his gigs and yo "play summer of 69". And he will get all pissed and storm off sometimes.
Lester Wiggs 5:34:01 PM
Adam Elk did record a song 'Cory' Same guy?

G Jax 5:43:27 PM

Esoterica (host) 5:43:39 PM

Hibernal Roffle 5:44:11 PM

Lester Wiggs 5:44:48 PM

G Jax 5:44:57 PM
Eh I know
David Shortell 5:45:01 PM
The latest expose of the Black Dahlia/Zodiac killer contradicts what Steve Hodel had written several years ago. What does James Ellroy think?
G Jax 5:45:21 PM
I know people still living that can't pass the mirror test
Esoterica (host) 5:45:25 PM
I never finished that Ellroy book

Esoterica (host) 5:47:46 PM

G Jax 5:48:54 PM
Can't fog it..
Lester Wiggs 5:49:53 PM
100% love Neil But he kind of lost his mind when some guy was smoking weed and talking to people on the same platform. No Judgement. Saw him in AC, pretty sure The Boss was in the audience.

Spruce Street. It burned down for the better good, but I had the master apartment there. I think they are going to rebuild it into the multi-dollar realm.
Esoterica (host) 5:55:46 PM
Haha G Jax, yes I have heard that about Ryan Adams, too (just seeing your comment)
Hibernal Roffle 5:55:58 PM

Esoterica (host) 5:56:11 PM

Lester Wiggs 5:56:41 PM
The science fiction magazine editor who lived and worked on Larchwood Avenue (near 44th Street) was George H. Scithers. From 1977 to 1982, his home there served as the editorial headquarters for Isaac Asimov's Science Fiction Magazine (originally titled that way). He was the founding editor, a multiple Hugo Award winner (including for the magazine and his earlier fanzine work), and a major figure in SF fandom and publishing.

David Shortell 6:20:18 PM
Speaking of the Dictators, Andy Shernoff's current lineup of the group will play nearby at Randy Now's Man Cave on January 24. Exactly one week later, Dictator-in-exile Dick Manitoba will play there!

I just realized I saw the Mommyheads last year at Jack's because I confused them with Geza X & the Mommymen, which featured Paul Roessler of the Screamers. I don't know if Paul was in 45 Grave when I saw them at the Brighton Bar in 2010, but I definitely saw him in Fancy Space People at Asbury Lanes in 2011.
Esoterica (host) 6:26:09 PM

Esoterica (host) 6:59:29 PM

Randy Marthins 7:00:06 PM
@esoterica "that you promised or were promised?" During the part 1 glam show I said "oh! I gotta do that!!" And gave myself that deadline
G Jax 7:00:21 PM
They call me HR in the office actually. They say someone has to do it so they chose me. The office dog needs sensitivity training.
Hibernal Roffle 7:01:35 PM
I always wanted my own department.
Esoterica (host) 7:01:50 PM
ha
Randy Marthins 7:02:28 PM
They call you HR, play some DK
Esoterica (host) 7:03:00 PM
right
Hibernal Roffle 7:04:27 PM
If you put a collar on a dog you are disrespecting. What I want to know is, who let the dogs out? Who, Who, who, who?
Hibernal Roffle 7:05:16 PM
Legal is on speed dial.
Lea Nelson Gemmell 7:05:21 PM

Thanks for the shout out! Love ya!
David Shortell 7:21:25 PM
Speaking of “Get Crazy”, the soundtrack includes the Ramones’ “Chop Suey”, a song I can’t find on any Ramones record.
Inspector Callahan 7:21:28 PM
Poppin back and groovin
Esoterica (host) 7:21:37 PM
yo inspector!!
David Shortell 7:21:39 PM
Also, Lou Reed (as the Bob Dylan parody) sings “Little Sister” in the end credits. But it’s different than the same-titled song he and John Cale wrote for Nico’s first album!
Esoterica (host) 7:21:44 PM
how can I forget you?
Esoterica (host) 7:22:22 PM
so cool, David. must watch it then.
Inspector Callahan 7:23:00 PM
In light of the new year, it's been many wonderful years ❤️
Esoterica (host) 7:23:19 PM

Esoterica (host) 7:23:25 PM

Randy Marthins 7:23:48 PM

Randy Marthins 7:24:14 PM
I have notes LOL
Esoterica (host) 7:24:19 PM

Esoterica (host) 7:24:29 PM

Randy Marthins 7:28:27 PM
Jerome was a hack, and a chump, right off; first of all
Esoterica (host) 7:29:17 PM
I do not think I saw the film! I need to
Esoterica (host) 7:29:24 PM
I'll take notes!
Hibernal Roffle 7:30:27 PM
Cale
Esoterica (host) 7:30:44 PM
yup
David Shortell 7:31:08 PM
"Art School Confidential" wasn't really a story when it originated as a 4-page strip in Eightball #7 (1991); just a diatribe by Daniel Clowes against art schools (particularly his alma mater Pratt Institute).
Hibernal Roffle 7:31:10 PM
Nice piece
G Jax 7:31:19 PM
Just caught the end of that song with the pedal steel. I'm looking at the playlist who was that was that the Greg Freeman song anyway I totally dug the way that pedal steel dude was playing. He plays like Jerry Garcia played the pedal steel
Randy Marthins 7:32:21 PM
I'll withhold spoilers then; malkovich was pretty accurate as a teach but Professor Slughorn was too Robin Williams/Good Will Hunting for my taste
Esoterica (host) 7:32:40 PM
hey G Jax, he's from Burlington VT
Randy Marthins 7:32:52 PM
My aunt went to Pratt
Esoterica (host) 7:32:53 PM
I had to truncate the song - but he is amazing
Esoterica (host) 7:33:11 PM
ha randy okay I love malkovich
G Jax 7:33:46 PM
Was that the Gregg Freeman tune?
Randy Marthins 7:33:49 PM
He's the highlight, without a doubt
Esoterica (host) 7:34:33 PM
yes, G Jax
Esoterica (host) 7:34:42 PM
I think so
Randy Marthins 7:35:25 PM
I have to admit, my fav Malkovich is in RED/RED2 with Bruce Willis - I dunno why?
David Shortell 7:36:07 PM
I only read Warren Ellis' book.
Hibernal Roffle 7:36:56 PM
Damn Dave~Library
Esoterica (host) 7:37:15 PM
interesting randy, never saw it. I like him in a lot, but burn after reading (coens) is hilarious
Hibernal Roffle 7:38:18 PM
I love this reel to reel stuff.
Inspector Callahan 7:41:20 PM
Stepped out for a smoke, it's reel cold outside
Esoterica (host) 7:42:15 PM

Inspector Callahan 7:42:53 PM

I googled around, looking for info about Musette and/or Häpna records. As far as I can ascertain, both are from Sweden. It looks like neither Musette nor Häpna have survived past 2015 though. )-:
