From bandcamp descrip: Difficult as it may be to imagine, there was a time when Sun City Girls did not exist. Prior to the Bishop brothers teaming up with drummer/shaman Charlie Gocher to form SCG's classic trio lineup, there were various ad-hoc assemblages of local Phoenix-area freaks and weirdos – groups which existed only long enough to play a single gig, open mic or house party before disbanding without a trace. Hatched from this milieu was Paris 1942, a short-lived band formed by guitarist Jesse Srogoncik that included Alan Bishop, Richard Bishop and former Velvet Underground drummer Maureen Tucker.

The two early members who've contributed to every era of The Celibate Rifles are the guitar duo of Kent Steedman and Dave Morris. "The band's energy, humour and disrespect for fashion mark the early Rifles as a true garage band in a sea of carports."

Let me see if I got this straight. Spinitron says "Paris 1942" is from 2025, but Paris 1942 formed in 1982 and the record was released in 1997.
Esoterica (host) 5:26:19 PM
correct, David.
Esoterica (host) 5:26:41 PM
but superior viaduct just released this
Kerrofflestomp 5:27:43 PM
Are they dead now or something?
Esoterica (host) 5:27:53 PM
Superior Viaduct reissued the 2025 archival album by the band Paris 1942, a short-lived Arizona-based group featuring Maureen Tucker of The Velvet Underground and members of the Sun City Girls. The band recorded demos and rehearsed in 1982 but released no material at the time, with only a bootleg surfacing on the Majora label in the late '90s. The new Superior Viaduct release, available on vinyl and CD, compiles the band's full discography, including the earlier EP and more...
Esoterica (host) 5:28:10 PM
