Xerox music is here at last! Don't Back the Front brings you DIY weird waves from the classic punk era through today. All with extra saxophone!

(Your DJ reserves the right to play indie pop)

Tonight's show is all 60s BAROQUE POP!

From WIkipedia:

Baroque pop (sometimes called baroque rock) is a fusion genre that combines rock music with particular elements of classical music. It emerged in the mid-1960s as artists pursued a majestic, orchestral sound and is identifiable for its appropriation of Baroque compositional styles (contrapuntal melodies and functional harmony patterns) and dramatic or melancholic gestures. Harpsichords figure prominently, while oboes, French horns, and string quartets are also common.

Very Beatrix Potter
Richard of Rocky Hill 8:23:24 PM
With an elaborate late-'60s over-production that (typically) almost buries the vocals. But super thanks for this set of sweet Sixties pop.
Ears 8:23:49 PM
Furries are so last night!
Dana K (host) 8:23:49 PM
You're welcome :)
Chris "Give Mohr to WPRB" 8:26:44 PM
Hi Dana K.! This evening's show is putting The Dukes of Stratosphear in context, if you ask me
Dana K (host) 8:27:10 PM
I worked backwards from the Dukes to all of this stuff!
Alan Parsec Paidup 8:30:00 PM
1960's psychedelic clothes.. https://rarehistoricalphotos.com/psychedelic-fashion-vintage-photos/
Richard of Rocky Hill 8:30:45 PM
Yep, definitely Sixties sweet berries & cream baroque pop! It makes me realize ... decades after thye fact! ... that even Donovan's psychedelic Sunshine Superman and Mellow Yellow period wasn't just influenced by sitar-infused Indian classical music but also baroque pop, with silvery harpsicord and insinuating chamber string sections ...
Dana K (host) 8:31:14 PM
You might be spoiling the rest of the show there, Richard!
Chris Barany 8:33:14 PM
Diggin thee baroque rock set!
Dana K (host) 8:33:37 PM
Hey Chris! Thank you!
Richard of Rocky Hill 8:37:56 PM
@ Dana K (host) OOPS! My precognition, I have no control ...
Richard of Rocky Hill 8:39:18 PM

TAndy: Monthly Doner🥙 8:54:27 PM
Just settling in at work and seeing the well behaved lad at the top of the playlist omg
Alan Parsec Paidup 8:54:31 PM
Dana: That episode "Assignment Earth" was supposed to start a spinoff of a new Star Trek series...
Alan Parsec Paidup 8:56:20 PM
...a 1960's psychedelic dress party would sure be fun, with Dana at the turntable...
Dana K (host) 8:57:50 PM
There used to be a 60s party at the Barbary called Bouffant Bangout and I miss it! I would love to DJ something like that, but I feel like a bit of a poser doing it from a laptop.
chris 8:58:45 PM
Whoa! I grew up in the late 60's. This awesome. Thanx Dana!
Dana K (host) 8:59:15 PM
You're welcome, Chris!
Richard of Rocky Hill 9:09:57 PM
@Alan Parsec Paidup Yes! re: the clean shaven look on the guys in those psychedelic Sixties pics. Maybe that's why (as I recall) the Beatles' Sgt. Pepper moustaches created a stir of surprise ...
Alan Parsec Paidup 9:11:00 PM
Richard: Yep it was a stir, and more to come later..
Ossy 9:18:54 PM

dan Cochrane 10:22:35 PM
Heinrich Schutz is enjoying this set immeasurably Dana K.
David Shortell 10:24:17 PM
Sorry I missed most of the show. I watched "May Morning" online. It's an Italian film, but set in Oxford and starring Jane Birkin.
Dana K (host) 10:24:39 PM
Ha, I hope he's listening, wherever he is!
Richard of Rocky Hill 10:24:57 PM
And speaking of being transported ... anyone who missed the Sixties when they happened ... just step into Shop The World, the little (very!) gift store tucked away at 4 Spring Street, Princeton. The scents of incense, sounds like these, and sights of glinting brass objects, turquoise & silver jewelry, and ~ of course! ~ psychedelic color swirls of the scarves, tees and blouses ... No easier time portal back! I have no $$$ interests here, just saying ... Happy tripping! :-D
dan Cochrane 10:25:13 PM
No de composing jokes here
David Shortell 10:25:44 PM
I learned this week that the Association put out a version of "Babe I'm Gonna Leave You" in 1965.
