Rob, my neighbor and I were chatting yesterday and sad about the relative lack of birdsong these days! could it be so much pesticides killing off their insect food sources?

Readie, possibly. But, it is autumn, breeding season has ended, birds have been molting and/or migrating, so there isn't too much bird song in October

We have had mockingbirds and Song Sparrows singing desultorily; the former set up winter territories while the latter don't afaik

I can say that the sounds of the songbirds has slowed only to be replaced by by the sounds of the owls. The colder, the louder! Quite afew of them talking at night lately! So beautiful is their voice!
