Hey Patrick! Whoo! Made it another week!

Hey hey hey. What a nice day to get lost in the woods, as one would get lost in the ever growing world of music.

Just as I say that I find a path leading to the paved trail. I think I'll stay a bit off the beaten path for now ;)

I wanted to get to part of Mercer lake where the Assunpink goes, but I lack the proper tick mitigation. Another time 😌

9 year old me would have ripped his Mongoose bike up these slippery lakeside trails without a second thought

Yeah, I was connected to my bike at most moments as a kid....

I wasn't allowed off our block when we lived in North Trenton as a kid, so I always took every beaten looking detour when Dad took me to the park. There's no better feeling than the freedom of movement.

I was in fairly rural Salem county, I was cut loose at five or six I guess, just get home before dinner....

Glad to see a Lee Morgan historical marker but I wish they placed it at his Alma mater Mastbaum High instead of defunct nightclub

The whole stranger danger and phobia of gangs being everywhere was quite prominent around here when I was a kid... Still is despite things being much more settled down since the 90s and 00s, ESPECIALLY since the 70s and 80s.

The vicious Kristen Huggins murder really shook public perceptions of Trenton Safety

Heard an academic interviewed about a recent book that tied violence in the U.S. to lead smelting plants, and the decline in violence tied to taking lead out of gasoline....

I've heard many points about that and I do believe it to be true.

I grew up right by a lead smelting plant in Deepwater. They used to give lead soldier smelting kits to kids. Only after I got out of town and compared notes with other kids did I realize how unusually violent my town was.

Actually I like Lester Bowie's Brass Fantasy's version of I Only Have Eyes for You. That's smooth.

Someone once ranked the flamingoes I only have eyes for you as spookiest song ever. I might have to go with Screaming Jay Hawkins I put a Spell on You . Or Nina Simone’s version

I was about to mention seeing Toots on Night Music with Sanborn, but I also saw Screamin' Jay there too. Great stuff, not well remembered or documented yet

Jay was a wild live act in the '80s! Saw him a couple times, believably unhinged...

Bongwater was on the show with Jay. They collaborated on a song. It's something.

I've always been a huge fan of Warren Oates. Saw him an an Outer Limits in 1964. Never missed that growing up.
