@Lizbot and other bird types: there has been a Red Phalarope in the small pool to the west of the Capitol in DC. It's the 5th ever for DC, it's pretty rare away from the Atlantic Ocean in Maryland (and New Jersey), and it is so absurdly tame/not bothered by people that you can (as I did) get really really close to it: https://ebird.org/checklist/S275378037

It's a small sandpiper that swims even tho it doesn't have webbed feet (and as always, not my photo)

@Lizbot, it's a bird that hatched this year, so in juvenile/immature plumage. I don't think that males and females can be distinguished outside of the breeding season. In breeding plumage the female is stunning https://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Red_Phalarope/id

Took the regional rail out to Conshohocken and rode back on my Scooter with a full battery. Great sound track for the last half. The River trail is a boss. I usually start in Chestnut Hill West. Brillient Trails for me. :) Thabks Lizbot!
